Vintage Antique Viking Silver Plate Cream and Sugar Set with Tray
I'm selling my antique 3 piece Viking Silver Plate Cream and Sugar Set. This set was part of my Grandmother's estate and is in very nice condition. I don't know anything about silver plate so please ask me questions and I'll do my best to answer them. All items are stamped Viking Plate 42. Tray is 10.5 long and 5.75 wide. NORWAY STERLING SILVER VIKING SHIP SALT CELLAR - MIB
Welcome to Antiques& Moore! This listing is for a lovely Sterling Silver figural Viking Ship open salt cellar with glass liner and spoon. Measures 1 3/4" high. 3 3/4" long and 1 1/2" wide. The silver weighs 24 grams(without the glass liner) Made by Theodore Olsens Eftf in Bergen. Norway, c. 1960's. Both the salt and the spoon are marked"Sterling" The salt has a beautiful gilt interior with a protective glass liner. The outer sides of the ship are decorated with five shields each having a spoke pattern. Each end is decorated with an upright dragons head. The salt celler and spoon appear to have never been used and are still with the original fitted box. Two complimentary Sterling Silver Pieces from internationally renowned Norwegian Silversmiths. Theodor Olsens Eftf. based in Bergen since 1868. Both Open Salt Cellar and Horn Shaped Pepper Shaker are in the style of the Norwegian Dragestil movement of the early Twentieth Century. The Dragon Ship Salt Cellar measures around 9cm long by 5cm tall. Is Hallmarked with Maker's Mark and with 925S. Sterling and Norway. The interior of the Ship is Gilded. The Dragon Pepper Horn Shaker is around 6cm tall and bears the same Maker's Mark. Again it is Hallmarked Sterling and Norway(on the reverse of the support/stand) The pull-off top is in good condition and remains a good fit. Note. It has a salt spoon with a sailing ship at the top and a shell carved design on the bottom. The spoons are marked 800 silver. The Viking boat measure 3-1/4 inches long from tip of head to back of tail. Height 1-1/2 inches. Widest width 1-1/4 inches. The spoon measures 3 inches long. It has the original glass liner. Very chuck and heavy viking silver torc/bracelet. Belive that the vikings had to wear this on the overarm. Its very heavy 222 gram and 10 cm in diameter. The form and design indicate that this is made between 900AD and 1000AD. This torc/bracelet was found in UK but simulare has been found in Holland and Finland. All silver with dots and triangel decorations at both ends.

Each is marked on the base'925S' with the makers mark for Aksel Holmsen of Norway(founded in 1932) The makers mark is repeated on the inside of the base(where the items come apart to be filled with salt and pepper) together with the word. sterling' The detailing on these items is very fine and they are rare items that I would imagine date from the 1930's. THIS UNIQUE WORK WAS CREATED IN SYRIA BY KRIKOR KOSHGERIAN. This fun piece of art is beautifully detailed as shown in the photos. There is a little viking that sits in the back of the ship. It has been encased and is in perfect condition. One could take it out of the case if desired. It is marked"90" and tests out to sterling silver. It has been engraved on the sail which could easily be taken off or redone if desired. Each of the six oars work. There are two stones for eyes on the animal head on the mast of the ship. Total weight is 114 grams. The pins that hold the boat in place are also sterling. The overall dimensions are: 5.25" x 4.25" X 1" The one inch is the widest part of the boat but the oars extend out. Vintage Viking Silver Mellophone w/ 3 Terminal Crooks
Here is a nice Viking silver plated mellophone. It is set up to work with terminal crooks like an old fashioned hand horn. There's not a lot of infor mation out there about Viking instruments but I've seen quite a few. They are usually stencils from other brands. My best g uess on this one is that it's a Cavalier sten cil. Cavalier was one of Conn's brands and Conn made mellophones on this pa ttern early in the 20th century. The terminal crooks put this mellophone into 3 different keys depending on the crook chosen and the choices are Eb. D and C. There probably would have been a short. Straight one for F originally. The valve slides are long enough that you can pull them to match the various keys. The E b crook is not plated. Th e silver plating is very nice and there are only a couple of small wear sp ots. It has a nice ... morelarge engraving pattern that reads simply Viking. The valves are smooth and fast and all the slides pull easily. There is some discoloration in the pla ting on the pistons. There are quite a few small dings but no major dents. The leadpipe has been repaired with a patch along the inside radius and the p lating is missing there. It has been resoldered to the body. I thin k the case was originally for a differ ent horn b ecause is doesn't have holders for the crooks. One of the body suppo rts for the horn is b roken and the case is pretty worn but basically s olid otherwise. A cool old horn!

What a great vintage flowing square bowl this is that the Viking Glass Co. in their"Epic" pattern which they established in 1956! They then had it embellished with a sterling silver overlay that was performed by the Silver City Co. in their"Flanders" pattern featuring very pretty poppies! The square rim design has a flowing edge that curves inward past each corner and measures 6" across the top and diagonally from corner to corner it measures 7-1/2" wide. The bowl tapers gracefully downward into the center and sits sweetly at 3" tall on a 2-1/4" base that is quite substantial. With an Art Deco flare. The rim was overlaid with sterling silver as well as the poppy floral Flanders pattern. The sterling silver has some aged patina here and there, although most of the silver overlay shows brightly! Hello. I'm offering this beautiful Viking Epic green glass covered candy dish with a sterling silver base. This is a very unusual piece the base is screwed onto the candy dish and can be removed. It measures approx 8 1/2 inches tall with the lid on and approx 4 1/4 inches in diameter. It is in excellent vintage condition The candy dish is perfect without any chip or cracks. The lid has one flea bite on the outer edge and 1 flake chip under the edge. Both are unnoticeable with the lid on. The sterling silver base is in very good condition with 2 very small pinhead dimples in the silver. Nothing noticeable. Please refer to the pictures as they best describe this item.
