This is a nice antique Roycroft Little Journeys bookstand from the early 1900s- Mission and Arts& Crafts period The piece is made of quarter sawn oak with original Roycroft metal tag. The stand has excellent form. Overhanging top, four keyed through tenons on the sides, and shoe feet. It is held together with the tenons and four screws that anchor the table top to the legs. Very simple design. The table was photographed with the tenons just resting in place for easy breakdown and shipping, they need to be tapped in to secure tightly. When assembled it is snug and sturdy. The color is rich with no warping of pieces. There is a possibility that it was refinished at some time due to the evenness of color but I have had the shelf myself for over 20 years and I did not do anything to it. Vintage 1950s 1960s Tomado metal book shelf shelving unused 2 sets bookcase Two sets of Tomado vintage book shelves from the 1950s or 1960s. In excellent unused condition and still in their original packaging. Both the shelves and brackets are made of metal. There are also six bookends to hold the books in place. The shelves are in shades of red. Green and cream. The brackets and bookends are black. The depth of the shelves is 12 cms and the length is 48 cms(5 ins x 19 ins) The brackets are 54 cms tall(just over 21 ins) Very simple assembly. The shelves just slide into slots on the brackets. The original screws in their packets are also present to attach the shelves to the wall. The boxes show signs of age but the contents are in excellent order. The only fault I could find is a small mark to one of the cream shelves. Although this will be ... morehidden when it is slotted into the bracket. The only peeling or bowing of wood I see is the thinner pieces on the back of the piece(up against the wall on display) one at the very top on the back edge- lip that goes up. The top/ cap piece is included but there are no legs. There is one piece for the open& closure that is not attached to the screw. It lines up& the screw is in place(photographed) but needs to be re-attached. I am far from a professional with antiques- just loved to collect them- so the next owner may choose to re-attach or not. The doors glide smoothly while opening& closing. If you put very heavy things on the top it does put some pressure on the hinge part that makes the doors open& close which makes it harder to open& close. This auction is for a beautiful bookcase in the Arts and Crafts style. This particular unit stands 45-1/4" tall by 15" wide by 10-7/8" deep at top and tapering to 13-1/8" deep at the bottom with five shelves. The 3 top are 7-1/4" tall and the 2 bottom are 8-1/2" tall. The bookcase weigh 27 lbs 4 oz. and was manufactured from beautiful quarterswan oak joined with wood pegs. There are a few nicks and chips from normal use on a piece that maybe over a century old. This exceptionally rare piece is sure to be a grand addition to ones home or office.
