This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. Antique Art Metal Stacking Bookcase Machine Age Industrial 3 Section
Great stacking bookcase circa 1940 from the machine age start of the midcentury modern period. It has a sticker on the top front that reads ART METAL JAMESTOWN? NEW YORK USA- Bookcase is metal but original finish is made to look like mahogany. As you can see one window needs replaced and there is some wear to the finish and spotty rust spots but overall very presentable. No dents. Both top and bottom remove leaving 3 matching stackable sections. Doors work nicely. Overall size is 52" tall by 32 3/4' wide by 18" deep plus a little additional for the knobs. Broken down each section is about 15" tall plus another 3/8" indented section for the next stack to fit on. Actual working size-that is the amount of room you have for the books giving clearance for the door and door mechanisms are 17 1/4" deep. 30 1/8" ... morewide by 12" tall. 1900-1915 Globe Wernicke Quarter Sawn Oak Stacking Bookcase Section that has the banded sides and is all original with original sticker in the back Pattern 113 grade 299 Standard E 13 1/2 unit Globe Wernicke Co. It is approx 13 1/2" deep 34" wide and 15 1/2" tall. The original glass is good. The back is still very solid and has the original pull which is a little crooked due to the fact that the screw is bent that is attached to the pull. The scissor hardware for the door is all there. The two boards on the top are good and strong. It is a little dirty but will clean up nicely. Pictures will show you views of this item. Antique Globe wernicke Barrister stacking unit. 34 inches wide. 11 inches deep. The section has no breals, splits or repairs. I=The section has all the door hardware and scissor mechanism ans opens with ease. The door has the original brass knob. The section also has the original antique wavy glass and bands around the base of the section. The back is in excellent condition with no rippling or warping of the wood. When facing the bookcase, the left side of the base and the back leg was cracked and repaired(See photos) The sections fit tightly together. There is general scuffing to the finish. This piece would benefit from a professional cleaning and repair. The Original Gunn stencil is on the inside face panel of each stack. Antique 3 Section Stacking Lawyer's Barrister Bookcase
Lawyer's or Barrister's stacking sectional glass-front bookcase from the early part of the 1900's. Dark wood exterior. That I believe was refinished about 20 years ago. The interiors are natural(light) wood. The wood and finish are in very nice condition. All of the glass doors operate correctly, and serve to keep valuable books clean and dust-free. There are no water rings or other marks in the wood. Bookcase is comprised of 5 pieces; a base unit that stands approximately 9 inches from the floor. One tall bookcase section that is 14.25 inches tall, and two regular bookcase sections that are 10.50 inches tall. The fifth piece is a decorative top cap that finishes off the unit. The bookcase was made in the U.S. by F.E. Hale Manufacturing in Herkimer New York, sometime after 1907. Hale Manufacturing is still in business today making ... morebookcases, in Frankfort NY. The bookcase sections still retain the original manufacturer's label. The assembled bookcase stands 46.50 inches tall. 34 inches wide, and the bookcase sections are about 11 inches deep, while the base and top cap are about 12 inches deep. Vintage Steel Metal Stacking Barrister Book Case 2 Section & Base Mid-Century
Must pick up here. That means no shipping. Too much time.Trouble and money to pack them up properly. You get 2 sections with glass covered doors that swing up and then slide back into the case out of the way and the base they set on. Glass is good, doors work nicely. The one is missing a nob but a trip to the hardware store/home center and you can find something close to it. The top one is missing a locking tab that inserts into it. It does have one. These are removable and one you get weight in them just about unnecessary as they set down inside each other with the lip you see on top. Each section you see is 33" wide by 13" deep by 14 3/4" tall on the front and sides but 15" to the top of the lid. Assembled with the base and 2 sections it is 37 3/4" tall. Paint is not original. The interior white paint is still pretty ... morenice, outside green shows wear/loss. If you would like to pick up my zipcode is 17363. You are buying one-1-single cabinet from the 4 section bookcase that you see. It is one of the 4 large center sections. the base and top are listed in other sales. These never had doors and are slightly taller than the ones that you find with doors. Size is just over 33" wide by 13" deep by 17 1/8" tall to the very top. The section that shows when stacked is 16 7/8" tall. The very top of the cabinet is a little smaller so that the base of the next section can lock into it. The smaller section at the very top is 31 9/16" wide by 12 1/8" deep. I have 4 of these cabinets that make up the larger stack. You are buying one with the chance to buy additional if you are the first buyer. If you buy more than one you need to buy one-pay for it-then buy the next-pay-and so on. I cannot combine shipping and ebay will combine ... moreit by weight and their combined invoice will be wrong. As you see the total structure it stands 80" counting the top cap and bottom base. There is lots of wear and scratching/loss to the paint and they could use cleaned up better.Some have writing and old tape on them. One of the sections has 2 holes drilled in the right side that you can see in a picture. The one picture shows the top inside of the cabinet. The only piece that is signed is the top cap. There is rust on the base but not much rust on anything else. The cabinets weigh 32 lbs each before packing and will incur even more dimensional weight by the shippers due to their size.
