The lid and supports have all the hardware intact. The lid opens to reveal a multi-cubby hole interior. It has four modern solid wood shelves that I don’t believe are original. The molding on the double door top is unusual chain style going around both doors. It is a heavy duty solid wood desk. There is a crack in the lid as shown in the photos. The glass on the top on the left-hand door has a space in the top. It is very usable. It is in a dark oak stain finish.

I assume ... morethey did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of a quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Top of desk 36 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep and the desk top is 29 1/2" above the floor. Will ship via Greyhound Bus to a station of your choice for you to pick up. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. When I saved old ink wells and antique books it was set up as a victorian desk and bookcase complete with inkwell and quill pen. When I wanted to use it(as it is shown) to display my green depression glass, the glass shelves displayed that beautifully. It is a solid oak piece with all the original hardware and original beveled mirror. We did add the glass shelves. They were missing when we purchased this piece many years ago. It has a drop leave desk that hides all the little cubbies and small drawer. There is a storage closet and a larger drawer under the drop leave desk. We have the original key and it still works. It works fine on the glass door that encloses the glass shelves and it also works fine on the drawer under the desk top. The mechanism is missing to lock the large door under the desk top. The piece is numbered with"172" carved into the wood inside the large storage area under the desk top. Purchased in the 1980's at a nearby Antique and Collectible show. The Larkin Desk has seen only light use as its tall attractive form stood decorating a wall over the past many years. Larkin Desks were made from around 1890 until 1915. They came in many different styles from most basic to ornate. This one offers many fine features. Has a beveled mirror top center and two small corner pedestal candle shelves either side. Embossed scrollwork adorns rounded top. Scrollwork embellishment on slant-top fold-up front of desk. Opens up flat supported by hinges either ... moreside. Desk organizing compartments inside includes small pull out drawer. Bookcase below offering two shelves for a home library. Glass doors open and close smoothly keeping books dust-free. A small lock on bottom shelf secures one of the doors. The other closes with little effort. As can be expected with most antiques. There are always a few issues from time and use. Items to note with this Larkin: there is gray spotting on the beveled mirror. Also, the pull knob on front of desk is loose and interior lock is missing. Left side hinge is replacement, not original, and two small dividers missing from inside compartments. Also has a very minor cosmetic corner repair located right side mid-section, see pics. Desk is of a nice weight. Made of oak, stained a toasty warm medium brown. Stands just over 60" tall by 30" wide by 11" deep. The Slant-top measures about 15 3/4" when opened. A true heirloom piece with a great history, fine Americana for your home. Up for sale is an antique Secretarial Desk/Bookcase. I don't know that much about antiques but I was told this was in my late wife's family for well over 100 years. I had a person come over and said it was worth about $1600 in the current market. He's been buying and selling antiques for years so I do trust him. I'm not looking for that much. The side by side measures approx. 72" tall by 40 1/2" wide by 13" depth- oak wood? has keys- oval beveled mirror- cabinet doors and drawer work properly- has original label on back(as shown) Please look at pictures as they are a large part of my description or ask questions and I will answer to the best of my ability. This has the original ... morefinish over top of quartersawn oak it is rare to find one of these with the lattice work china cabinet upper right hand cabinet. This is all routered carved. In the very top center it has a router carved lion style or dolphin head. This has wonderful claw and ball feet at the floor area. This is 77" tall. At top center, in other words a taller cabinet than most other ones found. This is 40" wide, 14" front to back. The lattice china cabinet china door is 17 3/4" wide, 13" tall. The beveled glass mirror is 15 1/2" wide, 17 3/4" tall. The shelf above the china cabinet for setting items of choice is 21" wide, 9 1/2" front to back. The routered carved drop front secretary lid is 17 3/4" wide, and 15" front to back. When you find these secretary the interior cubby hole drawers are usually missing or just have one. THIS ONE HAS 2! They are 8" wide, 16 1/2" front to back and 2" deep. This has 3 bowed out drawers with the original brass pulls.
