ANTIQUE OAK CANE BACK HIGH CHAIR/CHILDS ROCKER--CIRCA 1900'S
Beautiful oak folding high chair or rocking chair. This high chair is in wonderful original condition. And has the clever design that it has been built with that will permit the chair to be adjusted up and down making the chair into a rocker when in the lowest position and the high chair in the upright position. The rattan/wicker seat/backing is in great condition, no broken pieces. Approx. measurements: When the chair is fully extended it is 40" tall, folded it is 27" This piece dates to 1900 and there are no markings on it. The tray is also missing but it still makes a great little chair. I'm sure the spindles could use a bit of tightening up.

From an es tate we have a very very nice small childs or toy red oak and rush or can e se at chair. I am saying Mottvill e style because it i s not marked at all and came from an area of central New York very near Mottville where these famous cha irs were made. It looks like it may have been painted re d at some point in it's li fe or at the very least has a serious red stain on the oak. The j oints are redder th an the rest. The cane or rush seat is in EXCELLENT condition leading me to believe it has been redone perhaps at some point in it's life. It is a very well put together chair and i s very sturdy. There are seven decorative turned spindles on the back. Four on each side of arms, and two on the front legs. The side and back spindle joining the legs are not turned. The overall measurements are approx. 39 1/2" high x 24" wide x 27 7/8” deep incl. runners. The seat to floor is approx.1 5 1/2" The seat front to back is ap prox. 18 1/2" The original finish has a nice warm patina that highlights the nice oak grain on the rocking chair. If it's proper to call a rocker a"sweetheart" this one is surely it. Note the carved design across the crest. The turned spindles and the graceful lines not to mention the cane seat that is in perfect condition. Antique Vintage Golden Oak Rocking Chair Curved Back Cane Seat Rocker P/Up
This is a beautifully detailed tall-backed oak rocking chair. I believe the wood is called quarter sawn as it has a pronounced grain to it. The chair is from the early 1900s- late 1800s. The back slats are slightly curved to fit your back. Each of the twelve side dowels are carved with a bit of detail. The woven seat was newly replaced when I bought this chair from an antique dealer in 1991. The arm rests are curved and wide and have bentwood feature where they connect to the back of the chair. It is very comfortable and extremely graceful and classic looking. I just don't have room for it in my little apartment. I am listing it as pickup only, but send me an email if you'd be interested in having it and would want to pay for freight.

Set of 4 oak chairs each measuring approximately 43.5" tall. 17" wide, and 15.5" deep. Seat height from the floor is 17.5" Chairs are in solid condition for their age. Photo 3 shows a representation of the condition of all cane seats. The 4th photo shows a repair that was made to one chair. At some point in time, this set was refinished. Wood appears to be oak or possibly some ash could be mixed in.

When sitting still on the floor the top of the Rocker measures 26 inches from the floor. The back of the armrest measure 10 1/2 inches and the front of the armrest measure 12 1/2 inches. Rare Unusual Spindle-Back Antique Drafting Chair- Oak& Cast Iron- Cane Seat Antique Drafting Chair This auction is for an antique spindle-back drafting chair with a cast iron suport structure. And a cane seat. The cane seat has just been re-woven and the wood surfaces have been refinished. I'd describe the condition as very good, but not perfect. I'm guessing that this chair is close to 100 years old. It's a very veray early drafting chair. This is an extremely unique piece. I've bought and sold a number of these.many of them later Toledo models from the 40's and 50's. However. I have never seen one quite like this with the cane seat and spindle-back. The chair has no maker's markings other than an"S" on the cast iron support piece. The mechanics are reasonably sound. The chair is still solidly constructed, ... moreand it is in good vintage condition. There is a locking ring that must be raised to allow the chair to freely swivel. If, in the down position, it keeps the chair from rotating. The chair in it's pictured position is near the lowest position at 47" tall(to the top of the chair back) with a seat height of 28-1/2" It can be raised by about 3-4" The legs are on approximately 12" centers; the wood foot ring is 15" in diameter; and the seat is 17" macross and 15-1/2" deep. They are in good shape with 1 chair that has cracked at the top where the 2 pieces are screwed together. Minor dry cracks on 2. But easy repair with wood glue.
