The pins are intact. Supporting three adjustable shelves. Wavy glass. Paper label and ink-stamped production number are on the back. There is a push button knob on the right door. And a clever roller latch/ throw bolt system at the top/bottom of both doors. When the right door is opened, the left is simultaneously released. When the right door is shut it forces the throw bolts on the left door to extend into the wood frame at the top and bottom, securing both doors shut. Size: 31.5" wide. 11.25" deep, 47.5" tall on casters. Model 340. Most examples of this form I've seen are 34" wide, this one is 31.5" Great size for fitting in many spots within the home. Very minor wear to the dark fumed finish. Of course there are some minor issues.there is a seam separation on the top. And a slight offset seam at the top of the right slab side panel. Looking at it from the back, the plywood panel is rough along the right edge w/ some chipping and missing veneer(touched up) Some glue blocks under the base were missing and have been replaced. Mission Oak Stacking Bookcase, Vintage Stickley Era
This is a beautiful Raised Outline Navajo Weaving T his is a Mission Oak 2-Stack Bookcase. Made by the"F.E. Hale Manufacturing Co. Herkimer. New York) around 1910. The bookcase is made of solid quarter-sawn white oak, and features metal alignment bands on each section. The top section is 12" tall(9 1/2" usable inside) and the bottom sectionis 14" tall(11 1/2" inside) Overall the bookcase is 34" wide, 12" deep, and 40 1/2" tall. The bookcase is in excellent condition. And has been refinished with a warm, dark brown finish. The glass has been replaced, however the hardware is all original. Wonderful Mission Arts& Crafts Style Bookcase! Quarter sawn white oak with a warm patina finish. This Bookcase has through tenons and pegging. Pegging on the four corners of the door and on the bookcase itself. Hammered copper pull. This pull is patterned from the original designs of Gustav and Leopold Stickley. This is the same cast copper hardware that has been re-issued by the Stickley Company. Pull duplicate the hand-hammered texture of the originals and are finished to a warm, glowing patina. Screws are new old stock all flat blade and no zinc coating. Three fixed shelves and the bottom are each 1" thick. Dimensions are: 24" wide, 13" deep and 56" high. Up for Sale A sturdy. Vintage Globe-Wernicke Co. Mission style Barrister Bookcase from the early 1900's that has been in my family for years. It has three glass doored sections for books(the top section is 8 1/2" high. The middle section is 10 1/4" high. And the bottom section is 12 1/4" high according to the original labels.please see photos provided) The outside dimension of the bookcase is 51"s high. 11 1/4"s deep, and 34"s wide. The glass and the metal mechanism that opens the windowed bookcase sections is all original and in working order. The base has feet. Old Arts&Crafts Mission Oak Small Bookcase, thru slab with pegs
Up for auction today is this old Arts&Crafts Mission Oak bookcase. It measures 33 1/2" in height by 27" in total width. It measures 13 1/4" at the foot by 9" at the rounded top. The shelves go through the sides and are pegged with tapered half round pegs. There are no makers marks that I have found. This has an old varnish finish but I don't know about being original. I think not.The siderails are a full 1 1/8" thick. The top shelf is 8 15/16" deep, center is 9 3/4" deep and the bottom is11 1/8" deep with a small bumper board on the back edge. There are the normal nicks and dings and scratches from use and there are 2 splintered off areas on the siderails, see picture6&9. There is also some splintering at the feet see picture 8. There is a slight darkening at the feet as you would get from ... moremopping the floor around it. The white that you see in picture 4 is from the varnish being scraped. This is disassembled as you see in picture 10 and will be shipped that way.This is not mint but old. If you have any questions please ask. Antique Globe wernicke Barrister stacking unit. 34 inches wide. 11 inches deep. The section has no breals, splits or repairs. I=The section has all the door hardware and scissor mechanism ans opens with ease. The door has the original brass knob. The section also has the original antique wavy glass and bands around the base of the section. The back is in excellent condition with no rippling or warping of the wood. It fits with all globe D sizes and macey sections. Reaal nice dark quartersawn oak finish. No surprises. I would prefer local pick up but would look into shipping. Famous Maker 3 SECTIONS SOLID OAK Offered is a nice Mission Oak bookcase with lift-up and slide-in glass doors which are all in working condition. Each section is marked with the Macey trade mark. It is solid and sturdy. It stands evenly on the floor. The windows have antique wavy glass and there are NO breaks. The sections are graduated in size(9" 11" 13" this is a nice feature for storing different size books. Sections are interchangeable allowing for larger books on top or on the bottom. The buyer can take this bookcase home& use it. I can't say how long we have had these bookcases but can say they are a quality set and will have a major effect on a room when it comes to decorating. The brighter photos were taken with a flash. The bookcase is all original& retains all original parts, glass, knobs, sections. The condition is above average to better. It does need a polishing but that is minor. There are minor surface rub marks& use marks. There are no structural problems, the top lid's surface is solid wood& not the usual veneer, the wood is quartered oak(what ever that is) and shows a lot of grain through-out the cabinet& doors. Antique mission oak barrister 2 stack bookcase refinished outside painted inside
This 2 section barrister bookcase has been refinished on the outside maybe 20 years ago and painted on the inside and on the back in a blue/grey sort of color. Probably done at the same time as the finish. The spots that might have revealed the maker name have paint on them so I am selling it as maker unknown. In addition to the 2 sections, it comes with the original top or crown, and a base with drawer. It also features metal side straps between each section and the scissor mechanism for the doors. No problems with the 2 glass doors. In fact, I see no problems at all. With the square straight legs it is very mission looking and being from about 100 years ago, I think we can safely call it authentic mission furniture in every way except the finish, although a lot of mission furniture WAS this color when it was new. The joints are all tight ... moreand all sections lock together easily and correctly. While only a 2 stack, it is a big 2 stack with each section able to take books as much as 13 1/2 inches tall. The over all measurement are 34 inches wide as most of these are, and with base and crown a total of 45 inches tall. It is a full 14 inches deep from knobs to back. This Macey tiger quartered oak doublewide(barrister) 5-stack bookcase with wooden panes(panels) is a fantastic piece. In great working order; all door mechanics functioning. Ca 1900-1920. Stamped Macey(Fred Macey Mfg Co) Very good to excellent overall condition nicely aged patina inside and out early dark finish and door glass looks to be all original. The close up photos provide extent of wear. But the four photos from 3 to 6 feet of the entire piece and both sides give an idea of the overall appeal. Two small bottom door knobs not original. Top has scratches/scuffs. The bottom legs have dings and normal wear to the finish.
