I have spent endless hours locating a source for these knobs. This auction is for 2(two) AGED/BURNISHED) base knobs. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. If you want the knobs polished it is an additional please see the other ad. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. It measures 39-1/2” ... morehigh, 34” wide and 11” deep. The shelves measure 10” and 12” high inside. According to the labels, they are “35-10” & “35-12”, “finish 15”. Great vintage condition. There is a stain and slight water damage on the top, but doesn’t detract from it much. The back layer of plywood on the back of the top section is wavy, but it’s not seen from the front. Famous Maker 3 SECTIONS SOLID OAK Offered is a nice Mission Oak bookcase with lift-up and slide-in glass doors which are all in working condition. Each section is marked with the Macey trade mark. It is solid and sturdy. It stands evenly on the floor. The windows have antique wavy glass and there are NO breaks. The sections are graduated in size(9" 11" 13" this is a nice feature for storing different size books. Sections are interchangeable allowing for larger books on top or on the bottom. The buyer can take this bookcase home& use it. I can't say how long we have had these bookcases but can say they are a quality set and will have a major effect on a room when it comes to decorating. The bookcase has a removable top lid or crown, 3 stackable sections with glass doors, and a base. The first pictures were taken in natural room light and show the bookcase in as close to original color as possible, if the photos seem a little blurry it's because we used the night setting on the camera. The brighter photos were taken with a flash. The bookcase is all original& retains all original parts, glass, knobs, sections. The condition is above average to better. It does need a polishing but that is minor. There are minor surface rub marks& use marks. There are no structural problems, the top lid's surface is solid wood& not the usual veneer, the wood is quartered oak(what ever that is) and shows a lot of grain through-out the cabinet& doors. There are no repairs. Buyers are welcome to see the bookcase before purchase, we are 75 miles north of NYC& located between Albany-Binghamtom-NYC. This Macey tiger quartered oak doublewide(barrister) 5-stack bookcase with wooden panes(panels) is a fantastic piece. In great working order; all door mechanics functioning. Ca 1900-1920. Stamped Macey(Fred Macey Mfg Co) Very good to excellent overall condition nicely aged patina inside and out early dark finish and door glass looks to be all original. The close up photos provide extent of wear. But the four photos from 3 to 6 feet of the entire piece and both sides give an idea of the overall appeal. Two small bottom door knobs not original. Top has scratches/scuffs. The bottom legs have dings and normal wear to the finish. There are a few small wood niches on front surface(does not detract from the piece) Insides are very good with minimal wear; backs are very good with one of five stacks having significant rippling(can not see it from ... morethe front or when flush to the wall) Will work with you to arrange pick up at your expense(no shipping) our location is a convenient spot in lower Manhattan NYC; elevator building(no steps) Breaks down into 5 pieces for easy transport. 69” tall. 48” wide and 12.5” deep. Has the step back board, compatible with"E" or"D" size stacks. Quarter sawn oak. Uses a hinge/slide system nearly identical to the early Globe system. NO door knob or glass. With a few bottom parts this would drop right onto a Globe or Macey base. As you can see in the last picture a Globe top(or section) fits nicely on top. The Globe top in the picture is NOT included. The bottom board has been broken then nailed back on backwards, it looks bad like it is but simply needs to be flipped and glued. Massive 7 Part Antique Quartersawn Oak Sectional Bookcase Globe Wernicke Macey Massive 7 Part Antique Quartersawn Oak Sectional Bookcase. It has 5 main section- 4 are the normal style with top sliding glass door and 1 is a 2 door cabinet style plus the matching original top and base sections. I found some numbers and markings. I am fairly certain it is Globe Wernicke, possible Library Bureau or another famous maker from the 1910 era. The unique thing about this set is the size- by far the largest size sectional bookcase we have ever seen. The sections all measures 33" long which is about the normal length but they are all 17" wide and 13" high- much larger than most for those dimensions. It will need some attention and hopefully minor fixing- some of the internal hardware pieces are missing and the scissors and slides will ... moreneed some adjusting. The sections are all in good, solid condition with no cracks or major damage, a few spots of edge chipping to the quartersawn oak veneer but over not bad. All the original knobs are present. The top is fine and solid with a couple ring marks where some previous owner probably had placed a potted plant but I really think these would polish up fine. The base is intact and solid but the finish is very worn, the best thing we can say for the base is it does the job. My 17 photos should show you a fine example of what is being offered. Guaranteed a genuine classic 1910 era sectional elastic barrister bookcase in the desirable quartersawn oak. We are asking for local pickup as this would be very difficult and expensive to ship; I can take it to a local shipping store who offers UPS Ground professional packing and shipping but please be aware it would be very costly with 6 huge boxes. Old Time Macey Oak Law Office Bookcase
This unit came out of a legal office in Annapolis. Maryland. It has four book sections and is approximately 62" high, by 34" wide, and 12" deep, including a separate base and top section. It is a"tiger stripe" oak finish. Each section, including the top and bottom, is removable, It is a little dusty but in very good shape for it's age and will clean up nicely. To the best of my knowledge, it is the original glass and has never been refinished. This is a really great quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyer's bookcase or a stacker. We have refinished this piece and it has a smooth, even, and authentic finish. An unusual bookcase-note the following: ball and claw feet, drop front desk with fitted interior(waterfall style) 3 storage drawers(1 in the base and two below the desk) a graduated unit with the bottom clear(original) glass being 13.5 high and the leaded glass(original) top unit being 9.5 inches high. Note all the original Macey signatures remain. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 14 deep, and 60 high.
