It measures 25 1/4" high. 21" long rocking legs, 14" long arms with a 12" square seat. The seat cover now is a green velour fabric. Originally there was a leather cover for the seat. Under the seat fabric is a newer piece of wood for its bottom. There is a crack in the back of the chair that is shown in the last photo which does not go all the way through to the front. The seat is heavy and obviously reupholstered in the native indian motif. This rocker is solid with no loose pieces whatsoever. It does have have some knicks and scratches from use, and will need a good cleaning with some murphys soap, but overall a super fine example. Please ask any and all questions before bidding. An early 1900's,4 slat rear mission style solid oak rocking chair. i am not sure if this is a gustav stickley or a piece from another similar manufacturer of the time. The seat is heavy and obviously reupholstered in the native indian motif. This rocker is solid with no loose pieces whatsoever. It does have have some knicks and scratches from use, and will need a good cleaning with some murphys soap, but overall a super fine example. Please ask any and all questions before bidding. Up for your bidding consideration is the wonderful signed. Gustav Stickley H Back Chair. I purchased this stunning piece from an estate sale in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a one owner chair, in the family for over 100 years! It is in good shape considering its over 100 years old. The red Gustav Stickley stamp can still be seen on the chair. The style of stamp tells me its 1904-1907. The chair is still tight for its age, but does have flaws. The center back piece has some cracks, may have been repaired. I don't know if it has been recovered, but I would assume it has. It has a stamp underneath on the pad and I can only read"bose co. The chair has some scratches ... moreand the lower legs have some discoloring. The chair legs also have a pet odor to them. I haven't tried to clean the chair, to see if the smell would go away. The dimensions of the three regular chairs are 37 1/2" Tall at the back. 18 1/2" tall in front at the sitting point, The front is 18 1/2" wide and the rear is 15 1/2" wide, the chair is 17" deep. The arm chair is 39" Tall in the rear, 18" Tall to the seat, 26 1/2 Tall to the arms, the front is 23" wide, the rear is 18" wide, the arms are 21" wide at the rear and 26 1/2" wide at the front. The arm chair is 18" deep. These chairs are really solid and are in great condition with a few marks from regular use from over the years. I’ve only owned this for the past 15 years. So I don’t know the exact age of this piece, but I assume it’s relatively modern. Be aware that this is a Pickup Only item. I don't have any interest in shipping this item whatsoever. Based on the time it would use up for me to pack and ship this. I would have to charge at least $100 over shipping costs and that might add up to $400 or so. So hopefully someone in the surrounding Milwaukee/Madison/Greater Chicagoland area will have enough interest to make the effort to drive over here and pick it up. Approximate sizing is 29 ½” tall. 26” wide, and 24” deep. Recently purchased a well-made rocking chair at an ... moreestate and since moving into a smaller condo. I have to get rid of whatever I replace because I don’t have enough storage space to keep extras of anything. So out goes my Stickley which for me was a sitting/waiting chair by the doorway. The finish is original and except for the usual signs of well maintained reasonable use. This chair is in great condition and has a super nice mature dark cherry finish on it. There are signs of wear from hands on the ends of the arms. The usual slight but still clearly visible scratches on the seat from men’s keys/pocket stuff(see pics, the worst one does penetrate through the finish and into the wood) and slight scuffs in various locations in various places on the chair’s surface. But unless you’re a perfectionist. There’s no way this thing needs or should ever get a refinish. No major nicks. Dings, or gouges whatsoever. There are two 6’s or 9’s stamped on the underside of the seat along with an inked 7086. Pretty much what you see with this one is what you get—but the wear and tear I described is still there whether or not it is visible in the photos. So rare I cannot find an ounce of info on the internet about these pieces. Only what I remember from having read Stickley catalogs at book shows and with speaking to the original owner. I have no idea what they are worth now. I just know the person who paid for them in 1954 paid under ten dollars for the set. photo of the actual receipt) and I purchased them in 2005 from an old woman for a considerable amount of money being that they were something I had never seen before with the Stickley label. They're both a stunning green with a beautiful gold guilded patina from the famous Stickley Brothers. These pieces were original created in the 1920's post Mission and Arts and Crafts style. But by the 1950s, the Colonial Revival taste was climbing again. Great Roycroft built dining chair from the Asheville. NC Grove Park Inn. Only 400 of these chairs were built for the dining room of the hotel, and that would have been in 1912-13. Then in 1920, the hotel had the arms added to 350 of the chairs, this being one of them. This chair is in great shape. I've had it for 10 years or so. And it's just time for it to be appreciated by someone else. I don't know that much about furniture, but I'm sure it's been refinished, and looks like the back slat was replaced some time long ago. This is another great family piece. This was my grandfather's when he was a young child(born 1907) My late mother kept this chair forever. It has all the original mechanism brackets and bar. I think the cushions are not original. But are very old. They appear to have had buttons on them at one time. Cushions are not perfect, but are still very attractive on the chair. This is a nice one family owner piece with a great look and patina on the original finish. This has been carefully cared for throughout the years. Shows some minor wear being 100 years old and all, but far less than most still original examples that I have seen. The oldest sibling of my father's family in 1914 or so was the 1st user of this chair. We don't have room for it any more. It measures 25 1/4" high. 21" long rocking legs, 14" long arms with a 12" square seat. The seat cover now is a green velour fabric. Originally there was a leather cover for the seat. Under the seat fabric is a newer piece of wood for its bottom. There is a crack in the back of the chair that is shown in the last photo which does not go all the way through to the front. STICKLEY BROS GRAND RAPIDS Mission Oak Barley Twist Arm Chair in Great Condition
Hard to find Stickley Bros upholstered chair with barley twist leg and back wing structure. Very sturdy and useable. Original finish on the wood. Somewhat faded and/or worn on the arms from use. Original cushion and back padding are professionally recovered in high quality, fun looking, heavy weight animal print tapestry which could easily be re-upholstered in buyer's choice of fabric, though it is in fine shape. I tried to get a good photo of the maker's mark, hence there are several to see. Dimensions are 37" high at the back and 25" wide at the front across the arms. A great, stately chair for den, living room, or even a bedroom. This has been in my personal collection since the late 1980's and though I hate to see it go. I must downsize. Rare Stickley Bro Quaint Furniture Antique Mission Style 4 Slat Back Arm Chair
This rare Stickley chair was made when the Stickley brothers worked together in Grand Rapids Michigan. It was made with a quarter saw method of oak wood. This chair is rare not only because of it's label. But also because of it's four slats and one of those slats is wider than the others.This is a very simple design without any slats on the arms. I have had this in my possession for about 20 years and do not have the original cushion but it is easy to place a piece of wood inside and add any pillow or cushion of your choice. At some point someone put a black stain over the original finish. It is coming off and can be refinished. I have loved this chair but want it to be loved in another home now. Set of five dark brown hardwood dining chairs. Measures: 17.5" long x 34" high x 17" deep Purchased as a set from a farm estate in Blairstown. The piece is made of superb quarter sawn oak with an original finish with thinness at the arms from normal use. The piece has superb. Bulky form with paddle arms that are 1" thick and 7" wide. The arms have pinned through tenons at the front and back and are also corbeled ... moreat the front and back. The front seat rail has a distinctive bevel and there are arched supports under the arms. The back has its original brace and the piece is double pinned at the bottom. The posts feature quadrilinear construction as pictured. The upholster is high quality leather over the original spring seat. I purchased two Stickley Bros. chairs that came from the same estate. Unfortunately. The stamp is missing on this one but not the other and the manufacturing details are identical. I cannot prove this is Stickley Bros. but I am certain it is. The two chairs were from the same time. The other, the one with the stamp is the one described as"Quaint Manor" in the following excerpt. This chair has Japanese influences.That was followed in 1914 by“Quaint Manor, featuring slenderized Austrian designs with cane panels and cut-out decorations.
