Oscar Wilde A c.1890 Chinese Marble Topped& Gilded Hardwood Occasional Table Period: Late Nineteenth Century Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1880-1900 Height: 24 inches Diameter: 17.25 inches The hardwood occasional table having a gadroooned inset marble top and pierced carved frieze of lotus blossom flowers. The legs with dragon masks and joined by stretchers standing on ball and claw feet, the whole later gilded, survives from late nineteenth century China. The condition of the table cosmetically tired but structurally sound. The gilding is later though it is not recent. And as such it has natural chipping, cracking and wear whilst the veined pink rouge marble top is original though has some surface scratched ... moreto it. Structurally she is sound aside from one section of frieze that is ever so slightly loose. The carcass itself underneath the gilding is most likely of rosewood or padouk. Furniture produced in China from the 16th to the 19th centuries reflects a wealthy society that was full of formally while appreciating quality and style. This table falls into the category of the Guangzhou type of furniture(广式家具) Which incorporated western influence and was formed in the 19th century. This style was characterised by the adoption of decorative mounts of marble as we see here, and the adornments of shells or shellfish, as two examples. Beautifully proportioned. This lovely antique Victorian Eastlake foyer/ hall/ side table features a walnut base with intrique detailing. Original dark finish, original white marble top with gray veining and casters on feet(while old and in place for quite some time based on signs of aged metal, the casters are likely not original because they are not wood casters, so it makes sense that they were replaced at some point) I believe the table is late 1800s, but it could be as late as 1900-1920(I can't find the original paperwork) There are no chips or cracks in the wood base, and the marble top is great condition, with no damage. There is one small light brown-ish spot on marble from where price tag was when I bought the table(see photo) but since it is on the surface(versus in the marble) and you can feel it with your finger, I am sure it is the remnants of the ... moresticky side of the price tag that could be buffed out(I never bothered to try) All four legs have casters, but one of the casters has a few very small chips to the wheel part. Tan Marble Slab Top for Side / Occasional Table, Embedded Seashells, 25x20x3/4"
I'm pleased to offer this old marble slab with rounded corners for a small table. Medium washstand, etc. Fashioned from tan and tan/white fossiliferous marble with embedded clamshells. Difficult to date. Although it has marks that might have meaning to an expert. Marked 7813 with black grease pencil. A red mark highlights a chip that was filled in with a tan putty that is now rock-hard. This coloring was used often in French furniture. Although it could easily have been imported for an American piece. My best guess is 50 to 150 years old. The slab has a rectangular shape measuring 25 by 20 inches. With a thickness of 3/4" the corners are rounded, with a radius of about an inch. Condition is awesome. With very smooth surface and no edge chips, except as already noted. A lovely Victorian walnut white marble top parlor table. Hand carved and very ornate. Wonderful pierced carved legs. Exceptional detail all throughout the base. Beveled edge white marble top is original to the piece. Very heavy wood and well constructed. Overall in great condition for a 125 year old. The marble has two cracks running fairly central along the width. About 6" each in from the sides. Neither crack however shows up on the bottom of the marble, so it is not as bad as it sounds. One leg has a small piece missing, hardly noticeable. Please see all the photos as they are part of the description. The dimensions are 28" W X 20" D X 27 1/2 H. Antique French Marquetry Inlaid Occasional Center Writing Desk Library Table
I wish I could take pictures that do a little bit better job of showing the color and minute detail in the inlay work performed on this piece. So. Try to use your imagination. The table is nicer then the pictures reflect. To be sure as to rather or not this piece is from France or American made I cant be positive. However, I have been told it is French and over 100 years old. For sure this is the best inlay work I can remember seeing including the mother of pearl laid in place throughout the piece. Dimensions for this table are 38 inches length, 26 inches width, 29.5 inches height. It will add to any home or office decor.

The working drawer, which features the original brass studded round ring handle and escutcheon, is cock-beaded and closes flush to the frame. The drawer linings are constructed of pine, which is typical of a table of this type and period. Below the drawer, four very pretty tapered legs support the table. The table boasts a superb colour and is in excellent original condition. This item features a superb rich golden cherry wood colour. As it boasts the original polish. Dining room table Round w/extention leaf & 6 chairs occasional table claw paw
This table is I know for fact at least 20 years of age. I bought it 18 years ago at an estate auction. I was told then at the auction that it was an antique table. Now if it truly is or not over"100" years of age I'm not sure. I do know that it is in very good condition with a few minor scratches here and there. I tried to show as much as detail in the pictures as possible. The chairs have one real issue. One of the support rungs are broken, I did get that to show in a picture. I will only sell this table locally.
