This parlor stand features the typical shapely legs, carved frame, but what makes this table special is the carved basket of fruit in the middle of the bottom shelf. Sometimes you see these with a dog carved in them, but this is unique with the fruit basket. This table was really dry when we brought it in, it has been sanded down, over-stained it, and then re-lacquered it to bring out the gorgeous luster of the walnut from the Victorian era of the 1880s. I would say it has been finished in the last 20 years or so and has the beautiful patina on it. The marble is in outstanding condition being turtle shape and ogee bevel edge. The stand is rosewood and carved all over with raised burl panels that is simply stunning. The table is shown without castors, but we can probably find a set of old castors to raise it up another 1 inch if so desired. The overall size is 38.5 inches wide, 27 inches deep and 27 inches high. It is a fantastic table with cross stretchers are all good. It has finials on the side that would remind you of a candlestick holder they way they are designed.

Very elegant and well build construction feels solid and sturdy and will support a lot of weight. Due to the cabriole leg design the table can fit in small areas because the diameter of the top is larger than the bottom which allows you to put an armchair very close ... moreto this table without creating crowdedness. The table is covered with a piece of green onyx and is pretty heavy. Item is in original unrestored condition and in very good shape considering the age. However as any antique item it shown some imperfections. Which just add a vintage charm and character and will not affect the value. The original gilding has some reticulated cracks. The wood has a few splits, some pieces of the ornate foliate design are missing. I appreciate this look and would not recommend to destroy such time marks with"restoration" The table is about 29 1/2" high and 24" in diameter at the widest point. Shaped skirt and scroll carved legs with turned pedestal center. Shaped and beveled white marble top. Measures 29.5" long, 21.75" wide and 28.5" high. A Victorian house from this period was idealistically neatly divided in rooms, with public and private space carefully separated. The Parlor was the most important room in a home and was the showcase for the homeowners. This was where guests and many times, business associates were entertained. A bare room was considered to be in poor taste, so every surface was filled with objects that reflected the owner's interests and aspirations. for sale a great antique walnut center or parlor table att. thomas brooks. thick. Solid, and heavy construction as expected from brooks. it has the original insert marble top and the frame around it. some call these picture frame tables. the table has great form and beauty with buttons, medallions, carvings over the entire piece. the central pedestal pegs into the top support board with 4 pegs and then is bolted. the fours legs sit on their original brass casters. the marble is cut exactly to fit in the frame only one way, if you get it switched you will mess with it for hours and won't get the frame over the marble. the frame then pegs into the skirt and that only happens one way. i will mark the pieces for the new owner so they won't have trouble getting it together. i took it apart to clean it and messed with it for over 30 minutes ... moregetting it back together, so i did not take it apart to take any pictures. i should have done that before i put it back together. anyway, should anyone want additional photos, let me know and i can take it apart if need be. it is a fairly large table and nearly round. it is 36 inches wide, 27.5 inches deep. it sits 30 inches tall. it has great burl accents on the leg panels and skirt. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.

There are no marks identifying the maker however. In research we have found identical tables that are paint decorated and manufactured by Herter Bros. New York and we believe this to be an example by them as well. The marble is mottled gray and white and sits on a walnut base. It stands 30-1/2” high with the marble in place and the ¾” thick marble top measures 24” x 38” The inside of the drawer measures 20” x 17-1/4” and is 2” deep. Condition: Sometime during its life it has been refinished and has had some gluing repairs. The marble has a tight 4” stress hairline and with the cut of the marble shaped as it is there are typical fine nicks found along the edges. If you want a perfect oval top marble table?keep looking. If you'd like a decent looking MT table at an affordable price here it is. I used this upstairs in a bedroom. I am sure it was originally in a parlor as its still a pretty table you could use it in a parlor. It has an older repair to one legs in a couple of places with a re-glue and bracket screwed on both sides. Depending on how you place the table you'd never see it. The top is while marble and it has some scratches on it. These can be buffed out by a marble and tile guy and frankly if you have perfect base and need an oval top the price is worth it just for the top. This is real MT base as its open and always had a marble top Dimensions are 21x27 1/4 and its 29 inches high. No shipping on this but you can pick it up in Indy or you can have your blanket shipper pick it up

Spectacular Antique Victorian Marble Top Parlor Table. Exceptional details on this table set it apart from the rest. Intricate and unusual pierced carvings on the legs. Very little blank area anywhere on the table. Lots of carving, cutouts and curves. The white marble top is original to the table, nicely beveled ends and cut corners to follow the lines of the table. White wheels, also original to the table are a big plus. Very sturdy construction. For the sake of accuracy, there are a couple of insignificant marks on the marble, and a small 3 1/2" crack line on one end which does not show on the bottom of the marble so it is not all the way through. A lovely Victorian walnut white marble top parlor table. Hand carved and very ornate. Wonderful pierced carved legs. Exceptional detail all throughout the base. Beveled edge white marble top is original to the piece. Very heavy wood and well constructed. Overall in great condition for a 125 year old. The marble has two cracks running fairly central along the width. About 6" each in from the sides. Neither crack however shows up on the bottom of the marble, so it is not as bad as it sounds. This grand table features its original inserted marble top. Beautiful carved cartouche on all four sides of the conforming table apron, raised burl walnut accents and four fluted carved legs with the casters intact on the feet, a lovely turned stretcher that features a superb turned urn finial. This fine 19th century table has a beautiful presence and is in wonderful antique condition for its age. The old marble does show some discoloration as common in old marble and there are some chips to the inner area of the walnut frame that rests on the marble top(see last picture)nothing that takes away from the beauty of this table ... morebut wanted to mention them. Mass" We believe this table to have its rich original finish on the walnut wood and the beautiful beveled edge marble top to also be original.
