The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. It has 3 hidden compartments and lots of pigeon holes and small drawers. It comes with the keys for the upper hutch. The fold down desk and the small door inside but not the drawers below. It has the original glass, which is wavy and has bubbles in it, in both panels on the left side but not on the right side. One pane is missing on the right side but would be easy enough to replace. Lots of character on this gorgeous old piece. It measures 81 inches high, 47 inches wide and is 23-1/2 inches deep at the bottom. It comes apart in two pieces so the bottom part is 41-1/2 inches high, 47 wide and 23-1/2 deep and the top part is 39-1/2 inches high, 47 inches wide and 12 inches deep. New lowered reserve- This Secretary Desk was purchased in New York@ the end of the 19th Century and was passed down from my great great Grandmother finally to me. I couldn’t find any specific maker or label anywhere. But I just might not know where to look. It’s in pretty good overall condition considering its age. My Grandmother said it was from 1897( 115 years old) She died in 1982 and I have had it since. There is one portion near the top edge( 3rd from last pic) which must have come off when I moved last year, but it seems nominal and the repair should be straight forward. I was able to simply hide this in a right side corner configuration and it was not really noticeable looking at it from the left side or straight on, only unless you were looking from the right. This is a beautiful solid black walnut slant top writing desk. Circa 1810.The figured walnut top is very rich and beautiful with its grain patterns,rich walnut tones and beauty marks. I rescued this diamond in the rough. It had many many coats of white paint hiding this beautiful black walnut wood. I lovingly& meticulously hand restored this desk back to full glory. I restored the finish with many. Many coats of hand rubbed shellac, maintaining the antique warm glow, rubbed to a silky smooth yet allowing the beautiful grain textures to be felt.There was a trim around the back of the top which was missing, I custom made this new back rail trim using reclaimed 200 year old black walnut. The drawer pulls are from a 200 year old dresser and are solid walnut hand carved pulls. The harp shaped end is gorgeous as you can easily see with its ... morecone shaped finial on the end of the hand turned support which joins it to the drawer base.The slant top is fixed in position. There is no lid that lifts up, this was designed as a writing desk, dating back to the quill pen days. There is an age shrinkage split in the top which I chose not to restore. It gives great character to this lovely piece. The drawer locks are missing.I restored all the drawers, carefully taking them all apart and regluing them all and now they are rock solid and slide excellently. Full depth drawers with lots of storage.The desk is finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed anywhere in a room. The recessed flat panel sides are a great design. Adding to the beauty. I purposefully left some character marks remain in this desk such as tiny chip of wood,left top edge) pinholes etc, they give this desk awesome character, I was not trying to create a reproduction piece I try and respect the antique with all of its age, history and character. Exceptional Circa 1895 Victorian Ornate Oak Side By Side Secretary Desk Bookcase Offered for sale at auction to the highest bidder is this Exceptional Circa 1895 Victorian Ornate Oak Side By Side Secretary Desk Bookcase 6 ft. 8 1/4" tall Carved Solid Quartered Sawed Golden Oak Secretary Side by Side Desk Bookcase. The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. It has been completely refinished to restore its original Golden Oak finish and ready for your beautiful ... morehome. The following is a modified version of the appraisal. Modified only to read clearly to an audience: American golden oak cylinder front desk. Circa 1890. Also, it appears to be quarter sawn oak, also referred to as tiger oak. Those are the lines in the wood that run across the grain. This is usually an indicator of a quality piece and is a desirable feature. It is unusual that it has the tilt writing surface which is adjustable for drawing. Drafting, or perhaps other purposes. Also very unusual to have the hidden compartments on each side of it. There is another hidden compartment in this desk) The condition is as good as it appears in the photos, with no significant damage or repairs, and it has an old or original finish, this desk is valuable. Believe this is RIFT not QUARTER SAWN OAK. It is an"S" style desk, most likely mfg. between 1890 and 1900, notice the hand done dovetailing on the and the carved drawer handles. The locks on the tambour and center drawer are from Corbin Cabinet and Lock Company. It was disassembled in the late 60's and completely refinished. This desk has 2 Pull Out writing surfaces. And is 60"L 32"W 49"H and consists of 6 pieces; 2 Pedestals, Tambour section, desk top insert, and the lower back connecting section between the 2 Pedestals(many of the desks shown here don't have this) Desk is panel sided. There is no lock inside the key hole/lock compartment. It has recessed panels on both sides and back. The Roll Top slides up and down. Not a smooth slide. You have to hold both handles to open and close. It tends to stick when sliding. The flat surface of the desk appears to have been refinished at one time and it has a brownish stain on the desk. The top portion of the desk sets on the base. It does not bolt into the base. There are signs of wear in the form of scratches. Chips to the wood and repairs that I tried to show in the many photos. Very unusual carved desk with drawers and storage. The wood appears to be dark stained Walnut. The desk is 25 inches wide. 11 1/2 inches deep and 12 1/2 inches tall. The piece was made in the late 1800's and would be ideal for a computer table or as an office cabinet to store important data. There are three 7 inch wide drawers on the left side with a full 22 inch wide top drawer. On the right side is a 7 x 7 door to a storage area. Under this is another 7 inch wide drawer. The center opening is partitioned to take stationary and accessories. Really nice, usable old piece. It is obvious the desk has been used a lot through the years. The top shows quite a bit of staining from ink. Etc. Structurally the piece is strong and secure. On the door panel on right side there is a chipping around the knob. I am not sure what type of metal the filigree is on the top part of the three holders, but as seen in the photos, it is truly exquisite in detail. I have never seen a roll top desk quite like this one. It might have been custom made for use in a office. It is all original, in obvious need of refinishing, unless you prefer the original condition, albeit stains, scratches, etc. typical of piece of this age. There is a large roll up door on left with compartments and one drawer, the board pulls out allowing leg room to work at desk, it seems a big short, but if you measure to top of pull out board it measures 25" high, appears to be ample room for your legs. SORRY FOR THE PICTURES FOR SOME REASON THEY DIDN`T COME OUT GREAT. This is a very nice mahogany partners desk made in England circa 1870. Its in very good condition. The only thing I can see is that there has been a repair to the top right of the desk but looks fine, there are a few marks in the leather again nothing really bad. To either side of the desk there are pull out slides with leather insert. The quality is very good the drawer linings are solid oak with dove tail joints. This comes in 3 parts two pedestals and the top. It has brass handles and also brass key plates. There is one key plate that is missing. Measurements are 60 wide. 45 deep, 32 high.

Partners' Desk- Antique English Mahogany -London- circa 1850
This over-sized partner's desk was made in England circa 1850. I found it in an antique store in 1974 and restored it. It served as my desk in my 40 years practicing law. And it never failed to draw compliments. It is the ingenious"pedestal" style, meaning that it consists of three pieces: 2 side pedestals(on concealed rollers) which contain locking drawers on one side and cabinets on the other, and the top which is inlaid leather. The top is grooved so as to fit perfectly atop the pedestals for a solid connection,yet easy moving. The tops of these desks were made of one solid piece of mahogany. As such, they are prone to crack along one line across the desktop. This was the case when I bought it. We repaired it and recovered the top using an ENTIRE cowhide. This is a solid oak hand carved work of art that anyone would have proud to adorn their home. A cylinder desk that purportedly was once owned by the tobacconist Philip Morris. His name is stamped in the upper right hand drawer of the desk. This unit is a handcarved and handcrafted work of art and was built between 1875 and 1890. There is one lock missing from one of the drawers and it cannot be replaced with an original as we were not able to locate one. In addition. The top of the desks surface has had an insert set in as the desk once had some mechanical device mounted in the top two drawers of the main part of the desk and apparantly rose through the top and was later replaced with matching oak boards, however, this was done before the turn of the century. The details on this desk are understated and elegant. The C-roll top is graced with fluted moulding on the sides and opens to reveal the interior compartment. The interior compartment consists of seven storage slots and two small fluted drawers along with two ebonized pen/pencil holders and a green felt writing surface. Antique Circa 1840 Rosewood Lap Desk W/Silver Ink Bottles, Pen & Key Brass Inlay
This is a beautiful antique piece made of rosewood from circa 1840. Brass inlay on the top. Front and sides makes this piece very stunning and a great conversation piece.It comes with the original ink bottles, pen, and key. There are some small chips on the lips of the bottles but still in great condition for its age. They are approx. 1 1/4" tall with 1 5/8" x 1 5/8" diameter.The pen is approx. 6 1/2" long.The box is approx. 13 3/4" x 9 1/8" x 4 5/8" It has a crack on the top center(see pictures)See pictures for more details and let me know if you have any further questions.

This is a lovely cherry piece with the satinwood inlaid medallions. Highly decorative interior with dividers and drawers. Sits on a bold bracket dovetailed base. Old inventory numbers indicate that the piece was exhibited in a museum at some point. The crown shows old repair as does the molding on the desk lid. The pulls are old replacements. The finials are probably replacements. Some rose head nails are still evident on back boards. Really a fine investment piece. Please ask questions before bidding. Shipping is not free. The DESK is in good overall used condition and is ready to place in the setting of your choice, The desk has a sloping green leather writing surface in the centre. This is hinged and opens to reveal a sunken storage compartment with with small drawers and pigeon holes, alongside are 2 green leather inset panels and 2 drawers. Ea ch pedestal has 4 drawers which graduate in height and have ornate brass handles. The centre drawer above the kneehole is fixed and has a dummy front, The desk stands on a sturdy plinth base. IT SEPARATES IN 3 PARTS FOR EASE WHEN TRANSPORTING. Condition The Desk is sound. Sturdy& 100% free from woodworm, it has a small chip to the veneer on the writing slope at ... morethe top L H corner above the leather, it also has rubbing to the plinth on both pedestals at the front edge and the moulding on the L H side is missing, The desk has all its lock missing on each drawer but these are never seen. The rest of the desk is perfectly acceptable and the condition is best described as used.
