This little trunk measures 15inches long by 8 inches deep and 8 inches high. ... moreThere was no tray with this trunk when found but one was built for it out of oak and poplar. The trunk itself is made from pine and is metal bound. All the metal has been hand burnished but enough of the patina has been left to preserve the antique character of the piece. The lock is an Eagle lock and the latches function but are no longer spring loaded. The trunk has been refinished in a golden oak stain with multiple coats of sealer both inside and out. The original covering has been left on the underside to give a sense of the original look. The trunk is in overall good shape but because it is over 100 yrs old there are dings. Dents splits and cracks but these are minor and add to the overall antique feel. It is a very well made solid little trunk that will last a lifetime if cared for. These well made doll trunks are becoming quite rare and usually don't last long when listed. Shipping is FREE.

Antique Scottish Folk Art miniature chest of drawers box circa 1860
A box. Made to look like a Scottish full sized chest of drawers, with columns down the front. The kind of chest of drawers that used to be called a"Scotch chest" The drawers don't open. The top lifts up to reveal a plain box. Very much a one off. Made perhaps as a present and very much in the Folk Art tradition. Each part is homemade- you can see the whittle marks on the feet and even the handles have been made for this piece. Brass hinges and lock plate were bought. The rest is all individual. Approximately 27cm x 21.6cm across the top. Height- 24cm. A pleasing size. Condtion- It has at some point had a bad bash to the base. Which has knocked one of the feet off and it has been glued on again. It is old, old glue and could be done again much better with modern glues and not show. At the same time, you can see in the photo, ... morea crack appeared in the base at the back. The sides have been decorated with a shaped overlay. On one side three pieces are missing, on the other two. I would say this could easily be fixed without too much trouble and also could be ignored quite easily! The hinge works well and closes and opens and the front, the decorative part has all its knobs and drawers etc. The starting price reflects the damage and it is still a really fun thing. Antique refinished trunk one of a kind high end Victorian chest circa 1895
For your consideration is an antique refinished Victorian trunk with fancy hardware and double locks. A feature not often seen. This was definitely a high end trunk in its time, one that would have turned heads at the train station. All the extra hardware, the double locks and the fact it has three protective slat boards on all sides makes this trunk truly unique. A three stave(slat boards) trunk is one that is quite rare. It's only the second one that I've come across to refinish. This trunk measures 34" long by 21" wide by 24" high and has both of its original trays. The trays original cardboard bottoms have been replaced with wood bottoms and finished to match the interior of the trunk. The interior of the trunk has been cleaned down to bare wood, sanded, stained and sealed. Three coats of a water based sealer was ... moreused on the interior and trays to keep any odor to a minimum. The outside of the trunk was professionally refinished with a furniture grade finish. All the metal on this trunk was hand burnished with enough of the patina left to provide a natural antique character to the piece. This is an antique so there will be cracks dents and dings but these just add character. This particular trunk only has one stress crack which is quite unusual(it can be seen in the pic of the top) New high grade leather handles were installed to provide many years of safe lifting. This is a'true' flattop trunk, that is there is no slight built in arch to the top which makes it an ideal candidate to be used as a coffee table or end table or other decorative use. Try as I might I have been unable to find keys for the two locks but I have the ebay'key' guy hot on the trail and hopefully we'll come up with a key before the listing ends. I do each of my trunks to the best of my ability which means I don't rush the work because I want each one just right. I don't paint the hardware and don't repaper the interior. Antique Pine Blanket Chest with Butternut Trim, circa 1800
Circa 1800 Wide Pine Plank Blanket Chest. Missing glove box, but enhanced with a Butternut moulding trim on the lid and skirting. The old milk blue paint makes this a very attractive large dovetailed original chest. The hinges,although correct from that period, are not the original set. The measurements are 18" tall, 20" in width and 46" in length. We are in Central NY, so unless you are willing to pay for crating, the only way to get this chest will be a mutual meeting. Up for auction is a remarkable refinished antique steamer trunk circa 1890-1895 in fabulous condition. The trunk comes with its original tray which has been fitted with a new wood bottom. The interior of the trunk has been completely cleaned of its old coverings. The wood sanded, stained and sealed with 3 coats of sealer. The old musty smell is gone replaced with a new finish scent that will disappear over time. The sealer was water based so not nearly the odor is left inside. All the metal on the trunk has undergone a three part process to bring back luster but still retain the antique character of the piece. The newly exposed wood exterior of the trunk has been sanded, stained and sealed with multiple coats(i lost count) of a high grade oil based sealer which resulted in a furniture like finish which will stand up,with care, for many years. ... moreNew premium grade leather handles were installed and end caps re-installed just as the original were with with nails turned back into the wood. The bottom of the trunk was cleaned, a rust inhibitor applied to the metal, then primed and everything sealed. The lock on this trunk is original. It is an Excelsior lock made in Newark NJ and the key locks it with a nice click. This trunk was originally sold by the Charles William Stores which was a mail order house located in New York City. This company was in operation before being bought out from 1860 to sometime in the 1920's. The original metal tag identifying the store remains on the trunk. On the tag is a registration number identifying the owner and states if the trunk is separated from the owner, contact(write in those days) the store and the name of the owner will be known. Quite unique for the day. This just a great antique trunk and can be displayed proudly in any home. It measures 32 inches long by 20 inches wide by 23 inches high. The lid has a slight arch. The out side of the trunk is was painted years ago a couple times. The paint is worn now. There are dings/scratches and scuffs becacuse of the of the Age and it was being used in the village. There is a front"lock" but there is NO locking mechanism or key. I"believe" not certain the inside is Pine. There is a secret compartment that pulls up to reveal a drawer. There is a spot for a second drawer which is not there. The higes and hardware appear to be hand forged. There are feet added for decoration. Hand forged nails also. It sits on large bracket feet and is very solid. All the drawers run fine. I think at some time the handles may have been changed but look fine. It has the original patina its never been refinished. For sale we have a Pennsylvania Painted/Decorated Blanket Chest of dovetailed construction. With three drawers and flat bracket feet. The arched tombstone panels on both the top surface and the front panel are dappled in a dark blue/green hue with a sunburst design in each arch. The tombstone panels are surrounded by an eye catching sawtooth design. The drawer fronts are painted in the same blue/green color and have brass pulls. The overall background color of the chest is an earthy orange. The inside of the chest reveals the original till, hinges and jaw lock. Based on comparisons in Fabian's"The Pennsylvania German Decorated Chest" this piece appears to date from 1800 from Dauphin County which is now Lebanon County. This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. Antique primitive hand painted and decorated chest. It comes from Bergen County. New Jersey. It was in the Vander Plaat House which was once known as the Vanderbeck House. The chest is from the 1800's. It was decorated at a later date. It has green paint, metal panels, flowers, leaves, studs and mirrors. It is 35" long, 19 1/2" wide, and 20 1/2" high. Up for auction is a beautiful hand crafted cherry chest on chest circa 1850. This beautiful estate find originally came from Kentucky. The family I purchased it from has had this in their family since it was made. I was told that this was made for a family member in approximately 1850 in Northern Kentucky. This measures approximately 50 inches tall 40 inches wide and 21 inches the. There is some beautiful burly inlay beside the top drawer as shown in picture. This chest is in excellent condition considering it's age. There are a few minor defects. Two of the finials on the gallery are missing. Also the right front leg underneath has been damaged and they tried to repair it with a metal bracket. This Can be easily repaired. Circa 1820's Federal Cherry Chest Of Drawers W/Flame Mahogany Front - Two Tone
Circa 1820's Federal Two Tone Chest Of Drawers From a local estate this piece made in the 1820's out of mainly Cherry wood with Flame Mahogany veneered fronts. The piece is solid and of heavy construction with the front drawers being anywhere from 1 to 1 1/2" thick. Each drawer is of tongue and groove construction with the key holes having either Maple or Ivory inserts. The drawers do open and close smoothly. Second drawer has beaded edge work all around front face. The only problem with this piece is the numerous veneers chips on the sides and edges of some of the drawers and front fascia. Most of them have been there forever and really aren't that noticeable but you look at the photo's and decide for yourself. We'd like to believe it adds charm and character. CIRCA 1875 SOLID WALNUT FIVE DRAWER VICTORIAN CHEST WELL BUILT WITH KEY
This is a handsome solid walnut chest from about the 1870s. It has the first manufactured machine joinery on the drawers-the round dowel- as pictured. The chest is thick. Solid walnut and has three locking drawers over two large drawers. The gold leafing was added later and is not original to the piece. The pulls(handles) are original and lovely. There are cast iron casters on the bottom. It measures 48" wide, 22 1/2" deep, and 32" high.
