Crafted of solid cherry wood throughout all primary surfaces. The case is crafted entirely using dovetail joinery, noting the sides which lock to the top with a half-blind dovetail, covered with a fine molded rim; the bottom mirrors the top construction, and the drawer divider bars dovetail into the face of the chest. These are of only partial depth, not full dustboards, typical of New England designs as it lessened the overall weight of the chest. The facade is four graduated drawers with bold batwing brasses, each replaced using nearly the same holes, the brasses of the same age as the chest. The drawer construction shows exquisite attention to detail, note the channeling along the top of the drawer framing, a design characteristic of Massachusetts(though also seen throughout other New England states) The sides of the chests wear fine brass carrying handles, each of magnificent proportions with original hand forged screws locking them to the chest. They are likely added to the chest, though since the chest would not have had brasses on the sides of the chest to start with this is difficult to prove. The chest rests on scroll cut bracket feet, mostly original with mostly original blocking, the right side of the feet replaced in exact replication of the rest of the chest. This is a gorgeous piece. A visual delight and crafted with utmost attention to detail. The cherry boards have a wonderful jagged flamed grain with just a tinge of the soft red hue associated with a natural cherry. With a clean overall appeal and a deep patina glowing through the high polish finish, this is a piece that will enhance your living spaces. Measures 38" high x 41" wide x 18" deep. The backboard adds another 6" to the height. Drawer interiors are pine with early dovetail joints and chamfered drawer bottoms. Very hard to describe and categorize but we have attempted. A very beautiful chest of drawers with a six paned window top plus mirror and is a true antique! Chest of Drawers Bottom: Burled Cherry Veneer Drawer Fronts Handcut dovetailed drawers with chamfered panel poplar bottoms and interior woods. Step back center section. 3 burled cherry veneer drawer fronts with hand cut dovetailed drawers with chamfered panel poplar bottoms. 4 Cherry turned legs at the base– replaced. Half turn columns on the front. Cherry Knobs– replaced. Some minor restoration to the veneer front. All Cherry Sides. Case 41 inches wide. Top 43 inches wide and 21 ½ inches deep and 46 inches tall. Top: 2 Mortise and ... moretenon doors. 6 individual paned windows with original glass, cherry sides, center swivel mirror(older replaced mirror) with cherry crown moulding with burled cherry venner over it on the top. Cubby holes on the interior; total of four small hand cut dovetailed drawers. The top is not flush with the back wall. Steps out 2 ½ inches from the wall. Centered on the center section. Mortise and tenon jointed through the top and does not come off. 8 inches deep case width. 36 inches, crown moulding with 41 inches wide by 10 ½ deep and height is 32 inches. Overall Dimensions: 41 inches wide at its crown by 21 ½ inches at its deepest. Overall Height 78 ½ inches. It has been totally restored and everything is in good working order. This beautiful Empire style chest of drawers came to me from the estate of a collector. We believe it to be constructed of solid cherry and is dates to the 1870s. It features one deep drawer on the top and three standard drawers below. The front of this piece is carved with turned pieces on either side. The cut glass knobs are original and in very nice shape(no major cracks or other issues) We will remove these knobs and wrap them separately prior to shipping. Excellent condition with only some very minor condition issues(light surface scratches and a minor split to one of the drawer fronts) All drawers are dovetail construction– the bottom drawer is a bit sticky– we will take care of that prior to shipping. Antique solid cherry hand crafted chest of drawers chest on chest circa 1850
Up for auction is a beautiful solid cherry chest on chest circa 1850. This beautiful chest is very structurally sound with no defects in the structure. All of the drawers Ron good. It has locks in every drawer with a key as well. There are obvious signs of use especially on the top there are some rings nicks and scratches. But it is in great shape considering it is approximately 165 years old. This measures approximately 53 inches tall by approximately 41 inches wide by approximately 20 inches deep. This great estate find came from Ohio. The gentleman I purchased it from said that it belonged to his grandmother. There is no information before she owned it. This is a great style and a great antique piece. It is located in Myrtle beach South Carolina for local pickup only, however I would be willing to meet with in a 50 mile radius for delivery.

Superb Antique Pennsylvania Cherry Early Sheraton Chest Of Drawers Circa 1810's Western to Central Southern PA circa 1810-1820 Once you look at this chest of drawers. You will notice the excellent craftsmanship! this chest is built like a brick loo-house! it is finely finished, and well executed. the ring turned quarter columns and feet. Are typical of south central/western PA(Franklin County area and west to Bedford) and Northern Maryland. This is undoubtedly the nicest Sheraton Chest we have ever handled! The entire case is dovetailed constructed. Of solid cherry, the 2 board sides are solid, same with the top, which is applied, over a white cedar/pine 4 board slat frame which is dovetailed into the case. the bottom board is dovetailed into the base, which is two boards of white cedar/pine. The drawers are cherry with white cedar/pine ... moresecondary woods. And unusually nice tongue and groove board bottom, which are hand chamfered into the base of the drawer case. the drawer bottoms and back are nailed on with square cut nails. the drawers are all cockbeaded around the edges in cherry. And have diamond inlaid escutcheons. the ring turned feet are mortised up into the bottom of the case. And then nailed into the sides. the prolific use of white cedar/and pine as a secondary wood in this chest is quite unusual. Some have suggested that this chest is of New England Origin. However, upon examining the construction details, it is deduced this chest is indeed of Pennsylvania or Nothern Maryland origin. We had a walnut chippendale desk a few years ago. That came out of the Gettysburg, PA area with the nearly identical usage of white cedar/pine and same ring turned quarter columns. we believe the glass knobs are replacements of much earlier brass knobs. they are however. Very nice, and undamaged by the years. the finish is 100% original and untouched. And has mellowed over time to a nice warm red colour. there are absolutely no repairs and or restorations to speak of. the back has a few new round head nails to help hold

Now about the age, I'm guessing, and I know just enough to be totally wrong. The size makes me think it was made in the days when there were no closets. The heft makes me think of Empire or Gothic furniture, and the look and the knobs seem American to me. So my guess would be mid 1800s, maybe 1840-1870-but what do I know? You decide for yourself, and ignore my misleading guesses. All the drawer pulls match and there is a key for the biggest drawer. Condition: You will see normal wear and tear-light scratches and stains-and there is a small crack on the top. I see nothing major or unexpected for a piece this size and age. You'll love it! Nice size chest. Small and great proportions: 32 1/2" height 32" width 20" depth Very good restored condition. The restoration looks that it has been carried out over the last 100 years. The handles are not original but are probably 75 years old. Nice clean soft finish. Overall this is a very pleasing piece of furniture.
