Wisconsin area. This ... moreis beautifully Rosemaled trunk from the very early period of Norwegian pioneering i mmigration to North America. Front and both sides are elaborated hand painted with floral motifs. T he lock is period to the time. As would be the nails and wooden pegs used. No key for the lock though. The trunk is solidly built with the hand forged metal plates reinforc ing sides and top. Inside is relatively clean- no major issues- wood work has stood test of times. A few scuff marks here and there. As would be normal for a trunk of this age. Also of interest is remnant of a label on one side that spells out'Milwaukee- Ontario Huron. R.R' believe the could be a railroad label from mid 1800s. Measurements are length 41" x width 18" x height 22" Please see pictures for more details. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. This is an antique leather jewelry salesman's steamer trunk with brass locks& fittings. There are 10 divided drawers lined in green velvet. Some of the drawers are missing part of the dividers. There are some tears in the exterior leather and a hole in the leather in the back. The case measures 13.5" wide. 21.75" tall and 8" deep. It weighs about 19 pounds. There is a bit of a musty smell. We have not checked to see if the combination lock is working as as we do not know the combination. The lock is"as is" Other then that it is in overall good condition. It does have some wear like scratches and tears. The inside of the trunk has it's original cloth liner and tag seen in picture 9. Up for this no reserve listing is an antique doll truck. Or ladies accessory. I'd guess this piece dating from mid to late 1800s. It measures 12" height, 14" wide, and 9"deep. It's covering is leather with a fish scale diamond pattern, and accented with tin or copper embossing on the front and lid. There is also a metal handle on each side and a lockable clasp(lock not included) on the front. All the hardware, including the hinges, is in excellent shape with great patina. The tin accents are peeling off in the corners. There are nicks to the corners and edges, and done wood damage around the clasp(see photos) The lining is in excellent shape! Beautiful Refinished 19th Century Stage Coach Trunk Solid Wood. Was covered on the outside w/ paper, but most of paper was gone paper was cleaned off. And trunk was sanded, and finished leather straps were added to the trunk. Original ones were gone I chose these straps. As the design on them was much like that of the original paper: The handle on the left side(when facing the front) is the original handle. Amazingly still very sturdy, the other is a replacement, matches very well The loop at the top above the lock is a replacement. Matches the handles The lock could presumably be made to work again. But doesn't at this time, I don't have the key either The lock is beautiful. It is a Jenny Lind style lock, very intricate and beautifully designed The inside is totally lined with leather. Antique 19th century trunk made by J.H. McNamara's Trunk Works Nos. 138. 140 and 142 Monroe St. Fort Dearborn Bld. Chicago. It measures 40 1/2" across, 24 1/2" high, 16" deep and weighs 55 lbs. The trunk is all original. The wood and leather has a lovely patina. The inside has two levels of cloth covered trays, and a box that slides from left to right. These trays all have leather straps. The label is on the inside cover, also the original paper tag written with the owners name W.E.H, 251 North Grove St. East Orange, N.J. There is a brass plaque on the top with the maker's name. Here is a real antique. Stagecoach, train luggage trunk. It is leather over wood and it's embellished with brass tacks and a monogram. Has the bottom part of the original lock. Has both handles. The inside is covered with blue and white striped ticking or cloth. That's in very good shape. It has a drop open door in the lid that was used to put either dirty clothes or unmentionables(as they called underwear in those days) Then the top was padded and you could sit on the trunk as a seat as you were waiting for the train or stagecoach. Antique 1860's Stage Coach Wagon rare trunk leather brass nails old chest
Selling this rarely found stagecoach travel trunk from circa 1860 that has been refinished. The leather of the top of the trunk had shrunk to the point where it could not be reattached to the sides so I covered it with a black buffalo hide that is thick and comfortable to sit on. I think the results are pretty good.There is a minimal color difference between the old and original leather. Every brass nail is original to this trunk. Because the original leather could not be reattached to the top. I built a wooden seat, added some padding and covered it with the new hide. It functions perfectly as a seat. The interior of the trunk has a small door. It is through this small door that users would store their laundry. There is some available space to store some small items. The leather on the bottom. The sides on the top and bottom, are original. ... moreThe dust covers on the sides are original, but the cover on the front is new, as is the lid lifter. There is a lock behind the lid lifter, but there is no key. The interior is lined with come cloth that is dirty in a couple of places. I added two stays to support the lid. Handels are original, not sure how much weight they can support. Over all the trunk's dimensions are 24 x 13 x 14 1/2. I attached a picture of what the trunk looked like before refinished it. Antique 1800's Large Sole Leather Trunk Made By Haskell Brothers Chicago IL
Awesome 1800's Antique Sole Leather Trunk made by Haskell Bro's. Chicago IL. Perhaps one of a kind since I've never seen one exactly like it before and due to the fact, the original owner was a multi-millionaire(please read the history below) during that time period. This is definitely museum worthy! It is very structurally sound and in overall good condition! The primary leather has minor cracking which is to be expected for a trunk of this age. The leather is still very tight and secure. All stitching is tight as well. Which is quite remarkable! Haskell Bro's Makers Chicago is stamped into the leather on the top of the lid and is also visible on the brass locking latches. As you can see in the photos, the handles and a loop are worn off, but worthwhile to restore since all the studs are still there. The stud tacks appear ... moreto be hand hammered and all parts appear to be original. Extremely well made! The inside is lined with material with very few tears overall. Again. Quite remarkable for a Trunk that is well over 100 yrs old! There are no compartments inside. The wood slats are all in real good condition& the wood trim is as well. I'm unsure if it's oak, but I assume so. The bottom is in good condition, although as shown in the photo, there is a probable water stain. Included are leather travel straps. A leather handle, a buckle and two keys. I was told they are the original keys, however, one clearly says Hartmann. I have not tested these keys and am scared to out of fear they may get stuck when turning. I did however check to see if they went into the keyholes and both do easily. Measures 24" high. 20" wide and is 36" long. Please note. The top of the trunk appears in the pictures to be a bit"washed out, due to the excessive natural light. It is not washed out. This trunk is very nice for its age. It has sticker on side that it was made by Taylor Fibre CO. I took lots of pictures please look close and send questions if need. The hey has is missing. The lock does work. Below is information on Taylor fibre company and there trunks. Vulcanized fibre Vulcanized fibre is a laminated plastic composed of only cellulose. The material is a tough. Resilient, hornlike material that is lighter than aluminium, tougher than leather, and stiffer than most thermoplastics. The newer wood-laminating grade of vulcanized fibre is used to strengthen wood laminations used in skis, skateboards, support beams and as a sub-laminate under thin wood veneers. Up for bid is a rare original SMALLER antique trunk/chest. It has leather over wood with metal strapping and sitting on four metal roller/wheels. This chest has the original lock.but…no key. It also has the original paper lining with a Victorian style picture on the interior lid. There is also one area where it looks like someone wrote their initials in pencil. The exterior leather is intricately decorated with artwork depicting geometrical designs. The leather is fastened with numerous studs or tacks. Measurements are 25” x 14” x 13” The Bad: This trunk/chest is completely original so shows evidence of its age. Many“bumps and bruises” through the years as you can see in the many pictures I took. Antique Steamer Trunk Camelback ORIGINAL 1830. Nautical, Leather/Pine.
With something this old you'll have to read the pictures to gather your own information. It's structurally sound inside and out. No rotting! The paper and artwork inside are still fully intact. It has a few dings here and there but would be an absolute simple restoration. All parts are original. There is a barely visible engraving on some of the latches that read" PAT. DEC.23.7" The leather handle strap on the left side is missing and the main latch is bent a little bit. But other than that its fully useable. Untitled Document Purchased at a recent estate sale in NC full of fine antiques. This beautiful ornate trunk was a nice rare find. It has many exquisite and elaborate details. Please see images. It measures 23" tall. 30" wide and 17.5" deep. A collector's item! Looks great for its age though it does have some wear. The only parts I notice missing on the exterior are one of the leather handles and it did not come with a key. There is a name written on the right side. See photos to judge condition. It has its caster wheels. Overall it is very nice and I believe everything is original. The inside seems to be original and in very good shape for the age. For sale is a very rare antique steamer trunk. The trunk is very large and completely covered in brown leather. The leather has some cracks but for 150 years old. The leather is considered in good shape. There are rolling wheels on the bottom and wood slats on the top. The top also had the words"warranted sole leather" imprinted in the leather. This trunk also has possible ties to historic NY(brooklyn) politician JB Wass, who was a consultant to president Ulysses S Grant. If you search the web you can find reports sanctioned by Grant where JB Wass made recommendations on locations of illegal liquor distilleries in Brooklyn) The side of the trunk has personalized label complete with name and address. The leather is super thick and the trunk is reinforced at every corner and edge. Big brass studs and buckles accent the piece. Even the bottom of the case is studded in brass. I would think it's possibly English. But the there are no identifying marks to be found. Measurements are 40" x 23" x 14" high. The condition is excellent. Patina is excellent. There are some scuffs, wear and subtle cracking to be sure, but I doubt you'll find any of it objectionable. The worst of the wear is on the bottom corners where it has rubbed against the floor. Auction includes two black leather straps 9 1/2" long by 1 1/4" wide and about 1/4" thick pre-slotted to receive the prongs on the retainers. Four gold painted pronged metal retainers approx. 3 1/2" by 1 1/4" Sixteen split tacks for nailing the retainers(Eight 1" split tacks for the inside and eight 3/4" split tacks for the outside) Once the retainers are nailed in place you have your movable handle. This design will allow for the handle to flatten out when not in use. Drill the sides of the trunk about 1/4" where the prong is to be located. Two black leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" by 3/16" thick eight inches long. Four brass plated metal strap ends painted black one side. Split head brass tacks-eight 1" long to nail the leather to the trunk. Tacks are to be placed two per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a verticle position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Split head tacks 3/4" are to fasten the strap ends. The handles measure approx 10 1/2" metal end to metal end but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit. free postage

19th C leather covered brass studded camphor wood trunk. Hand painted. Floral design border.Measurements(inches)35.5" wide18.5" deep16.5" tallThis beautiful blanket chest in its original condition. There is wear to the leather and the paint as shown in the pictures. Most noticeable is the lid on the trunk. The leather is worn around the edges of the trunk as well. The leather has been recently conditioned with 100% Neatsfoot Oil leather softener preserver. One of the original rolling ball type footing hardware is missing, the other three are still in good working condition. Missing original latching hardware. 20" STAGECOACH TRUNK· 1877· antique sole leather w/ torn Wells Fargo Label find more unique items at" buy it now or best offer" prices in DESCRIPTION: This small antique stagecoach trunk is made of wood covered in leather. It measures 20" wide. 12" deep and 11" high with wood skids on the bottom. The leather is hand decorated with simple graphics, and the top is stamped"Sole Leather- Steel Springs. It has leather straps with buckles and the center latch is marked"Pat'd. April, 1877. Attached to one of the metal loops that hold the heavy leather handle is a narrow strap with a buckle and metal tag to hold the owner's name and address. The trunk has a drab cloth lining contrasted by a brilliant blue cardboard door with brightly colored trim that opens to reveal a separate storage compartment ... morein the lid. When you open the compartment you can see two metal strap springs(the same brilliant blue color) which keep the top from collapsing under the weight of other trunks that may be piled on top of it in transit. On the bottom of the trunk is the remnant of a shipping label that reads, Wel. and the rest is torn off. It most likely said"Wells Fargo. I have gently taped a piece of a polyester film over the label to keep it from disintegrating further. CONDITION: The good news is. This trunk has the potential for a beautiful new life with the proper restoration, but that's not something I have the necessary credentials to do. The bad news is, it has many cosmetic issues, which I will separate into categories. Here's the 411. LEATHER- Dry in some places. But no significant loss, just a tiny piece at one corner. Many dark stains, likely caused by exposure to the elements, i.e. extreme heat, cold, rain and mud, not to mention gun oil and horse sweat and all the dirty hands it would have passed through on its way! This is an outstanding antique from 1835- dated newspaper as lining. This leather covered wood trunk or chest measures 25" by 12" by 10" high. As mentioned it is lined in very old newspaper- all dated around 1835. The overall condition is good for its age: the two iron handles are still in tact. Most of the brass studs are present, the front latch is non functional, the hinges with square nails are fine. It is a very special piece of 19th century history. Antique 19TH C Pre Civil War Small Leather Brass Studded Trunk John Baker Boston
THIS IS A 5 DAY ONLY AUCTION We are pleased to offer this wonderful pre Civil War era small trunk. This piece was made by John B. Baker(est in 1826) of Boston. MA as evidenced by the original paper label. It measures 11 1/2" long, 5 1/2" tall, and 8" deep. It is beautifully covered with brass studs and leather. The brass lock is marked"G.H. The condition is very nice for its age. It stays open with its original leather straps and closes quite nicely. The makers label is in great condition as is the gorgeous green paper lining. Antique Trunk Smaller Size A Majestic Restoration Leather Latches
For sale today is a beautifully restored smaller size humpback stagecoach trunk with smooth tin. I did not find any patent dates on this trunk and based on 40 plus years restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1860's to 1880's which makes this neat old humpback as much as 135 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the wood bottom is solid. Has multiple coats of paint, three original slats, four new metal whee and the trunk rolls easily. The three original hinges are HD, fancy, tight and the lid closes well. There are 20 polished pieces of original hardware. The center lock is polished, brass keyhole,there is no key and the lock maker is the Improved Trunk Lock Co. The latches are new black leather and work well. The original tray is long gone and has a new custom built ... moretray and the interior has been removed. The metal/tin is in VGC. The metal lid stay is original to the trunk. There are 9 solid oak slats in a golden oak color. New black leather handles were installed with the original end caps. This lovely old humpback is 30 1/2W. 20 1/2D, 26 3/4H and weighs 45 lbs. When packed and ready to ship this trunk will be 35W, 24D, 31H and weigh 58 lbs. Antique Rare M M Secor Original Leather Steamer Trunk Chest
Antique Rare M M Secor Original Leather Trunk. This is a beautiful old rare original MM Secor of Racine. WI leather trunk for stagecoach, train, steamship traveling. It is leather over wood with four roller wheels. It is circa 1866-1900. The exterior leather has a beautiful soft patina with beautiful hand hammered copper rivets. This trunk has some scratches and stains and discoloration but overall it is just beautiful. MM Secor was established in 1861 and was the first trunk maker in the US. Please have a close look at all of the photos. Two of the of the leather handles are missing and I will leave it to the new owner to replace with the correct leather handles. Two of the four roller wheel brackets on the sides have screws in them instead of the original copper rivets, these can easily be changed back. Inside it is mostly complete with ... morethe exception of some missing straps and small hardware, another easy fix. The trunk has all original hardware in good condition but the key is missing. The bottom of the trunk has three labels, Texas Express Company, Dallas, TX, Texas Express Company, Austin, TX and Moore's Hack Baggage and 10 Cent Parcel Delivery, San Diego, CA. This travel trunk measures 29 1/2" long x 17" wide x 19" tall and weighs 54 pounds. There is a patent date on some of the hardware, Jan 16'66. This trunk is solid and straight.
