This one is simply marked'England' but the second of the pair has the stamped greyhound motif of'Boote' The green glaze is thicker in the lower areas due to pooling and there is also surface iridescence that adds to the decorative appeal. Lot of 9 Vintage Glass Prism Tiles. Very Good Condition. Pale Yellow Color 4"x4" Sale is for a lot containing 9 Vintage Glass Prism Tiles. These were removed from the basement alley windows of an old General Store built around 1900. Originally they came in a copper and lead frame and were removed so the copper could be recycled( not by me) They are in great condition with some bubbles. And a slightly wavy texture front and back. The prisms are nice and sharp but may have the odd very small chip in them. They also have a bevel all the way around were they fit into the old 1/4" frame and this makes the edges a little rough on some of them. Measurements are +- 4-1/4" x 4-3/16" x 1/4" to top of prisms. Prisms themselves are about 1/6" high. The color is a pale yellow which is I guess indicative of the type of ... moreglass they were made from. I've tried to take picture to give a sense of the color but of course your light might be slightly different then mine and taking a decent picture of glass was harder then I thought. Interesting Antique Victorian Aesthetic Movement Brown & White Floral Print Tile
Up for auction is an attractive Victorian Aesthetic Movement floral printed brown& white tile. This tile is interesting in that it is an identified Mintons design. However it bears the maker's mark for Lea& Boulton. It is possible that both firm's produced the same design or that Mintons have used blank Lea& Boulton tiles to print their design on. This tile is printed with a lovely design in dark brown depicting a central diamond decorated with an urn filled with swirling flowers and foliage. Shabby Architectural GLASS TILE ~ Birds On A Wall ~ Wall Art
This piece is made of a heavy. Ceramic-plaster mix. It's now painted crisp white, heavily distressed for the aged and worn, shabby look, and then tiled. I used glass tiles on the"wall" and pebbles at the bottom. The nest is made of straw and the eggs of paper. The tiles have been grouted and then sealed for protection. Although it looks like it may have been a fountain of some kind. I don't believe it was as there are no holes in it for the water to run through. it measures 9 3/4" side to side. 3 3/8" front to back at the base and 14 3/4" high including the birds. There's a metal hook at the top for easy hanging or it can sit on a table top. Weight before packing is 8 lbs. The tile has a bold floral pattern across the whole tile surface in a reddish brown colour on a dark background which has a purple colouration but in sections looks almost black. This darker glaze is inconsistent across the tile appearing more purple in nature towards the tile edges. There is a lustrous quality to the glaze when it catches the light. Up for auction is an Art Nouveau tile which was made by Corn Brothers. The tile surface has been divided into quarters. Two of the squares are decorated in a plain glaze in a rich green colour. The other two squares have a cream background and are decorated with a yellow flower and buds with green foliage. The tile has a rich& glossy majolica glaze to the surface. No cracks, no restorations this tile has been used and therefore has very slight damages on the sides. Typically with a painted design covering only one(rather small) blue and white tile, were ubiquitous in Holland and widely exported over Northern Europe from the 16th century on, replacing many local industries.
