Vintage Turkish Tiles Tree of Life, Animals in Mural Wood Bound 20" x 20"
Here is a beautiful tile mural from the mideast with beautiful colors and images. I believe they are older tiles. Maybe from the middle of the last century or so. The reason I say that is because there are signs of wear on the edges. I would personally rather see that as I love old tiles, but we are all different. I have pictured one nick on the top front that could easily be covered over, but for the sake of honesty, I am leaving it that way for the moment. You could fill it in with a touch of caulk and be done with it. The colors are vibrant, oranges, blues, yellows, greens, browns, cream. You can almost feel the designs are the glazes are thick and raised up slightly. There are four colorful animals under the tree. The brown one has white on it- maybe part of the design, maybe some glaze missing. There are nine 6" x 6" tiles ... morein this mosaic and it is framed in dark wood. The measurement of the entire piece framed is 20" x 20. It has a wire for hanging. It is quite heavy and shipping will be high as the weight and the fact it will need an oversized box add up. Please ask if you have any questions about this mural. It's a beautiful vintage piece, not all slick like the new ones- it does show signs of use. I like it that way, maybe you will, too.

Vintage United States Encaustic Tile Co.
I have for sale a complete set of"The United States Encaustic Tile Co" of Indianapolas Indiana fireplace surround circa 1880. Each tile is 6"x 6" and there is 17 total. There are nesting birds on each side and across the top. There are 2 figures in each corner. One of a man and one of a woman. The bottom tile on the left is missing a corner. I also have floor tile included. Most of the mortar is of the back but there is still some on a few pcs. Due to the weight of the tiles they will be sent in 3 flat rate boxes at 14.95 each for safety in shipping.

Antique Vintage Mosaic Tile Company Blue Ceramic Wall Heater 1920's
This electric wall heater was removed from a home that was built in the 1920's. I'm not sure if it was working when removed. Since the power was already cut to the house. It appears that th e small filaments are broken that run through the ceramic. So I'm thinking that it would need to be repaired to actually be used a s a hea ter again. However. I have seen folks take out the heat ing element and make a recessed magazine holder out of them. There is a metal grate that fits into the openings o f these units. And it is missing on this one. The cover is made of 2 large tiles that fit tog ether. And they are in great shape with no cracks and just a few tiny chips near one of the mounting holes. There is just some discoloration from where the wire grate sat. And there is also some color variation in the glaze. These'MTC' pieces ... moreof that time had a bit of variation in the color which makes for a hand-glazed look. The f inish is matte. The chrome around the control knob is rusty. But the knob itself is in great shape with no chips or cracks. Dimensions are: co mplete cover size is 18"L X 15 1/4" W-housin g front is 17"L X 14 1/4"W-housing depth is 3" Thanks for looking. The scene on this tin glazed tile depicts Pontius Pilate washing his hands in the matter of the deposition of Jesus Christ. Jesus is depicted on the right with a symbolic halo aura and is being escorted away by an armed soldier after the crowd selected to free Barabbas. Instead. Condition is good with the tile having crazing, a scrape to the bottom right hand facia and the edges being marked commensurate with being use and age(nearly 300 years! This and others were removed from a wall. 5” square tile. See Photographs This scene is a rendering of events taken from the Gospel according to St. Matthew. Particularly Chapter 27, Passage 24 where Pontius Pilate"took water and ... morewashed his hands" as a symbolic gesture to show that he"was innocent of the blood of this just person" Chaffer01 is pleased to offer this nearly 300 year old rendering which would have been hand painted by a Delft decorator of a very important event in the history of Christianity. The four outer corner motifs are early delicate variants of the oxhead motif and help date this tile to the 1690 to 1750 period. SIGNED IN IMAGE ON FAR LEFT MOYR SMITH. THOUGH THE FRAME IS MUCH LATER THE PRIOR OWNER CHOSE A GOOD STRONG TIGER MAPLE WOOD. THEY USED SOME KIND OF ADHESIVE TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. THOUGH IT IS SLIGHTLY LOOSE ON ONE EDGE I DIDNT WANT TO TRY TO PRY IT OUT IN ANY WAY AS NOT TO DAMAGE OR CRACK THE TILE THOUGH WITH SOME CAREFUL EFFORT IM SURE IT CAN BE REMOVED. THERE IS A SLIGHT BIT OF SPACE AROUND THE TILE AND I USED A FLASHLIGHT TO CHECK THE EDGES FOR DAMAGE AND SAW NONE. SOME IN MAKING FACTORY GLAZED OVER CHIPS ON SIDE EDGES ARE CLEARLY FROM ITS MAKING. AND SOME VERY TINY UNOBTRUSIVE NICS AND I AM VERY PICKY. A BIT OF EXCESS GLAZE ON SURFACE ON LOWER EDGE WITH ... moreMINOR FLAT CHIP NEXT TO IT THAT WAS ALSO PROBABLY FROM MAKING. THIS WAS NEVER WALL INSTALLED AND USUALLY THESE TILES WERE USED IN METAL OR WIRE TRIVITS POPULAR DURING THE PERIOD. SURFACE HAS GOOD GLOSS AND WAS NEVER ABRASIVELY SCRUBBED OR CLEANED. GOOD DETAIL BETTER THAN PHOTOS. THIS BEING A BIT MORE UNUSUAL AS IT HAS A BLUE BACKGROUND AND THIS SERIES WAS USUALLY JUST THE BROWN TRANSFER. ENTIRE FRAME IS 8 3/4 SQUARE. TILE IS 6 SQUARE AND ABOUT 1/2 INCH THICK. IT WEIGHS 1 3/4 POUNDS. BUYER TO PAY WITHIN 3 DAYS THANKS.

Rare Henry Richards Tubelined "Bug" tile Art Nouveau, c1907, Great condition!
This is a superb tubelined tile from the Henry Richards Tile Co with a most unusual and beautiful"bug" design. The tile has had an easy life and is in excellent condition with just a small(5mm) chip towards the bottom righthand corner(see image) There are no cracks. No stains, no rubbed highlights, and only a little age-related crazing without which this would look like a modern copy! It is however the real thing as will be evident from the back- this shows that the tile had been mounted on card using an animal based glue, typical of installation in a washstand or other piece of furniture, hence its superb condition. ART NOUVEAU PEACOCK TILE BY GEORGE MARSDEN, c.1900
Unusual and beautiful transfer printed 6" Art Nouveau tile by George Marsden. C.1900, with a design of a peacock between two poppies. In shades of purple and gold. Very good condition, with just a small shallow edge chip at the top LH corner, and a tiny nibble at the bottom right.

ART NOUVEAU TILE, PILKINGTONS OR CORN BROTHERS
Stunning Art Nouveau 6" tile. Either by Pilkingtons or Corn Brothers. Schiffer's'Art Nouveau Tiles 1890-1914' says it is Pilkingtons, but the back looks more like Corn Bros to me. Either way, it is an extremely stylish tile. In very good condition. But the two top corners have been bevelled off, presumably to fit into the back of a washstand.
