A very finely made antique. Circa 1800, French Empire mahogany veneers and solid mahogany dressing mirror in classical architectural form. Two pillars with ormolu mounts to the plinths and capitols support the pediment with lily of the valley wreath ornament. The ogee frame with holds the swivel original glass mirror with original back silvering. The mirror frame with glass is removable for shipment. case has a dovetailed drawer with ormolu wreath and knob. The drawer interior is quartersawn oak. The case secondary wood is maple. Measures 37-1/2" tall by 27-3/4" wide by 14-1/4" deep. Excellent condition: original finish without wear, boards without cracks or chips. 5-1/2" horizontal tight crack to veneer on top of case, and faint cracks to veneer on front very right top corner. Empire Dresser, mahogany, mirror veneer, ca. 1830, Antique, good condition
An Empire Bureau. Or chest of drawers made of mahogany in the early half of the 19th century. This is a grand piece of furniture that would look great in any large space-hallway, large master bedroom, dining room. We had it in our hallway in a 1803 house in upstate New York. There are four large drawers and three small drawers at the top. The largest drawer is directly below the three small top drawers, consistent with the style. Drawer fronts are a mirror veneer, rest of the wood is solid. The drawer pulls are brass. This is a solid, well-built dresser. It is heavy. It stands about 52 inches high, is about 47 inches wide and about 21 inches deep. The drawers are about 16 inches deep. The finish is in relatively good condition; there are scrapes, scuffs, nicks and scratches but it would not necessarily need any work. There is a crack in the ... morewood on one of the sides(visible in photo) The drawer slides could use some repair work, but the drawers function. I believe that the dresser is from the early half of the 19th century because the nails used on the back boards are type I cut(photographed) The back boards are soft wood with a rich brown patina on the back, the part exposed to air. Store Categories This is a charming antique child size set of drawers crafted in the 1850s/1860s. Composed of chestnut and cherry woods. This set of drawers is designed in the American Empire style. Scattered checks with three to the top. The top drawer of the lower set rests slightly off kilter as the wooden bar has come loose from its position on the track.
