Small Antique Trunk, Chest, Storage, Project, Yard Decor, Planter
I acquired this flat top antique trunk at an auction. I have not tried to clean it as I do not want to ruin the integrity of the trunk. It is made of wood and covered with canvas with metal straps. The left leather handle is broken and the right one is intact. However they are extremely fragile so I would suggest that they not be used to pick up the trunk. There are pieces on the front with the buckle. There is a small hole in the top of the trunk. Please look closely at the pictures as they are part of the description. This an exceptional small square steamer trunk measuring 24"sq. This has it's original Eagle Lock co. brass locking hasp. The original"Marshall Fields" brass tag, and all the original hardware, strapping and leather handles. This is a ideal size for a lamp or occasional table. The entire trunk is covered in the original canvas oil cloth, leather edging, and metal supports all riveted through the wooden body. I bought this chest in an antique store in Connecticut according to the seller that piece is from England but it could be an early New England piece and it's over 100 years old. Condition: one hinge is broken. One hinge is loose and the molding is starting to separate from one corner of the lid(see pictures) The cover(lid) has some scratches on it. There are some splits in the wood on the inside bottom of the chest and a few on the lid(see pictures) It is 19” deep x 42” long x 21”high. It has hand cut molding around the bottom and molding around 3 sides of the cover. The hinges are the original hand wrought iron. Inside there is a till box. It has handmade dovetail joineries indicating that it is an early piece. The original handmade lock with key is still in it. Antique Hump Back Trunk Insert/Tray
This is an old tray/insert from a hump back style trunk. The paper is stained.Cracked and torn in areas. I didn't clean it for fear of messing up the paper surface. One end has a crack near the handle that appears to have been glued at some point. One corner has some wear as seen in the pics. This tray is solid and not loose. These old. Original trunk parts include 4 metal casters, 6 metal corners, metal strapping that circled an old trunk horizontally with original hinges and lock top attached(this strapping measures about 16" x 26.25" more than 50 original"square cut" nails(most were bent when removed from the original trunk) used to attach the metal strapping, etc. 4 matching embossed metal covers(not sure what these were used for) 4 matching metal covers for handle straps with original attaching nails in place, metal"retainer" slide that would hold the trunk lid open at a certain angle(don't the other half of this piece) and two matching metal pairs of leather strap covers and metal strap loops for strapping a trunk lid closed. All are offered for sale in"as is" condition as commonly used in an auction setting.

Although we don't have a key for the lock, it"opens" by pushing down on the brass colored"button" Found immediately above the key hole. A key is not included. The 2nd trunk. Or chest, handle(see top-most item in center of picture provided) measures about 3.5" from left to right and 2.75" from top to bottom. The 4th item offered for auction. That helps hold a chest lid ... moreopen at an appropriate angle, measures about 6.5" long and about.5" wide. It is not magnetic, so is likely made of brass or other non-ferrous metal. Beautiful old trunk with an organizer/insert. I believe this trunk is wood with tin or another metal that has a decorative pattern. On the inside lid is a beautiful image of a woman riding a horse. It measures about 26'x15'x14' As you can see from the pictures the handles are broken/no longer there. Also one hinge has came apart. But you are still able to open and close this. VINTAGE STEAMER TRUNK You are bidding on a vintage steamer trunk. This nice trunk is metal with wood trim. It had leather straps and handles. But they have broken off, with only remnants remaining. The chest is rusty on the surface. But seems to be solid. It is lined on the inside with paper. The lock on the outside has the word Yale on it. The trunk measures 20" tall and 19" x 36" length and width. It is 16" deep with the lid open. It is in good vintage condition. With surface rust and the leather straps broken off. Chinoiserie hand painted silver leaf adorns one side of this screen while the back remains unembellished silver leaf. 7'8" tall, each panel measures 16" wide. Double hinged to fold any direction, this piece is substantial and heavy. Peeling silver leaf, scratched and dented wood, water damage and gouges, particularly to the back of screen.
