Vintage Porch Railing, Banister, Balusters, Architectural
I recently salvaged this railing from my boyhood home just before it was demolished. The house was built in 1923. And my Dad kept the railings(and everything else) in good repair. It was painted several times over the years, and is reasonably sound for being outdoors for 90 years. It was quite sturdy when I removed it from the porch. It's 101 inches long and 25 inches high. The top rail is 3 3/8 Inches wide by 2 3/4 Inches deep. There are 22 balusters, each 18 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 inches square at the ends. For anyone doing a restoration or faithful reproduction, this is a priceless treasure with a rich heritage. Notice that it's listed for pickup only because of the weight and size. This sale includes 7 wooden(painted white with much paint loss and lots of chipping) Victorian spindles. Balusters, railing pieces. They measure 18" x 2 3/4" square. They are in vintage condition with some nail holes from where they had been affixed to the rest of the porch. One of them has major chipping or chunks missing(see last one in all of my pictures) Although the pictures might appear to be duplicates, I believe I took pictures of all 4 sides so you could get a handle on their overall condition. Antique Victorian Complete Curved Staircase- Circa 1870 Oak with Fir Risers. This is a great looking Curved Victorian style complete staircase with all pieces shown and is ready for re-installation(the third floor landing square balustrade is not included- see pictures) The curved section features bowed treads and risers. As well as a flared outside stringer making this a very ornate and special staircase! The entire staircase is oak and the risers, skirt boards and balusters are fir and the balusters have been grain painted oak. The entire staircase has the original shellac(varnish) finish that has an absolutely beautiful patina. The dimensions are 187 1/2" in length x 55 1/2" width at landing tread x 43" width at top step. The finished floor to finished floor height is 110" The newel post is 4 1/2" x 40" tall. ... moreThe railing is 2 1/2" x 2" and is 36 1/4" tall, and the balusters are 1 1/2" round. The treads have a run of 10 1/2" and a rise of 7" This is an original staircase that was removed from a late 19th century Victorian commercial building in historic downtown Hannibal. Missouri. The building housed a saloon and grocer on the first floor, office space with reception hall on the second floor, and this staircase led to the third floor"hall" or open ballroom complete with gold leaf columns and very ornate tin ceiling. In later years, the third floor was primarily used for storage, therefore the staircase has had very little use. Modern Gothic American Aesthetic Frank Furness cast iron building rail fragment
Here is a wonderful and rarely found cast iron balustrade panel from a Victorian building in Eastern Pennsylvania. The geometry and precision of the design recalls the work of Philadelphia architect Frank Furness. Unfortunately. I don't know where exactly this fragment came from as it came from a local auction. H: 26, W: 12" the panel is solid cast iron and weighs over 20 lbs. Old cream paint remains with age rust showing through. Great silhouette to this fragment, suitable for hanging inside or outside on a wall. Very bold and dramatic Modern Gothic design. I will be happy to make a private listing for more if desired and can provide more photos. The pieces are all the same height. The approx size of each is: 20.25" tall x 2" The paint is a chippy white. They could be used as a shabby decorative architectural piece as is or could be stripped and refinished.

Fabulous solid redwood balusters from old southern architecture. These are big. Robust and beautiful. Taller one is roughly 30" high, 28" around at the top, and 21" around the roundest part of the spindle. Slightly smaller but still large baluster is 22" high, 22" around the top, and 17" around the spindle. These measurements are approximate. Notice there is a slight slope on the tops. We cut one of them in half and you can see the gorgeous red coloration of the redwood underneath the paint and weathering. There are approximately 100 of each size. 2 Antique 1892 Handrail Bannisters From Old NC New Hanover County Courthouse
Up for bid here. Two antique handrails. I got the two rails from a contactor that helped remodel the New Hanover County Courthouse, here in Wilmigton NC. back in the mid 80s. The original courthouse was built in 1892, and that is where I am told these are from. I have no idea what kind of wood these are made out of, but they are heavy. The big one is about 6'3" small about 3'9"long. Both are about 39" high. Thought about replacing the half pole on the big one, with the full one from the small one and making a really nice headboard. Maple Banister Newel Spindles vintage architectural project reclaimed staircase
Reclaimed from a central Pennsylvania home. 1 45"H newel, 62 spindles, of which 15 are 28 1/2"L and 47 are 32"L, 4 lengths of banister 138" for the landing, another 80" section for the landing, 148" for the stairs, and 40 3/4" again for the stairs. All are maple. Some have been sanded in a few spots. Some are chipped. 2 carved pieces need to be glued(as shown in the pictures) Well made, well preserved, well priced.

Remnants of a recent remodel- likely from when the house was built in 1925. Overall good shape. But have faced the wrath of at least one do-it-yourselfer. One base is missing, and the beveled tops are kind of beat up and/or split. Little white paint spots that should rub right off. Around 30-11/16" in length. Lot Of 13 Vintage Wooden Tapered Balusters Spindles Salvage 26 1/2" x 1 5/8"
Up for auction these 13 Vintage Wooden Balusters/Spindles. The pictures should give you all the info. you need. They're in nice vintage condition and the wood appears to be sound. There are 10 that have angle cuts on the ends(approx. 26 ½” long point to long point) and 3 that are cut square on the ends(approx. 25 ½” long) One of the pictures shows the length. They are approx. 1 9/16” to 1 5/8” square. The one with square cuts ends and most of the paint missing was probably outside as it’s fairly rough with raised grain. The one with angle cut ends and missing/chipping paint has smooth wood and doesn’t look to have been outside like the one mentioned prior. Please consider the pictures part of the description. Stylized Lion Weathered Pilaster Element Carved Wood "As Found"
Wind. Rain and sun have weathered this pilaster because it was used as a design element in a garden. We gave it a coat of wax to enliven its details. I believe it still has years of decorative use awaiting it. It is 11" x 4" x 2" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. These carved oak balusters are in excellent condition: no major cracks. Repairs or issues. They have been used and show a few chips. Bumps, rubs and indications of age and experience. These are both flat on one side and were mounted against a flat surface: they are not completely round. I have lightly washed these but have not sanded or extensively worked on them in any way. They have a small fraction of their original finish. Giving them a muted, shabby but chic color tone. Being oak, and in very nice shape, they would strip and refinish with a stain to tones from golden oak to as dark as you like. 19th Century Virginia Turned Walnut Newel Post Architectural Antique
Nice walnut turned newel post from a Virginia antebellum house. I purchased this post for a project but ended up not using it. It is 6" diameter at the base and 39.25" tall(not counting the 1" diameter piece in top center. The dark spots are from me using a wet rag to highlight the wood so that the photos show the walnut. The post has been painted a few times and needs to be stripped and finished. The post is also split. As some do, because they are turned from central part of the log. The split starts about 16" from the top, and gets deeper towards the bottom. At its deepest point, the split is 1.5" deep and.25" wide. It is a stable and old split and could be left alone. Good luck

This is a great looking complete staircase with all pieces pictured and is ready for re-installation. This staircase has the three stair sections. Two landings, built-in bench, second floor overlook and all trim. There is a built in bench on the face of the first landing, raised panel wainscot under the second tier of stairs and a very large and ornate skirt board face trim on the entire face(including second floor overlook) The entire staircase and all trim is quartersawn oak making this a very rare and one of a kind piece! The entire staircase has the original shellac(varnish) finish that has an absolutely beautiful patina. The staircase dimensions are 149 1/8" in length(including bench) x 103 3/4" width x 78 1/2" at ... moretop step and upper landing overlook. The finished floor to finished floor height is 130 3/4" I have detailed drawings and dimensions of the staircase before removal as well as the after removal frame dimensions for reference. Also. I have each individual piece marked for location, so re-installation should be very simple. This piece was removed from an 1898 Victorian in Quincy. IL that was converted into professional office office space in the 1960's and has been used until recently.
