The surface of the lamps has a wonderful slightly raised texture where the paints were applied. The photos do not do proper justice to these fabulous lamps! They are large. Measuring 16 1/2" to the top of the vase and 9" wide. The mounts are antique brass and the bases are footed chinese wood stands in dark brown. I have just replaced sockets in both lamps and they function beautifully. The shades shown are not included in this auction but if you want them, I will include them in a separate box for an additional $100.00 plus shipping. In my opinion, these lamps really should have large custom made tall drum shades. This pair was purchased from a wealthy estate in South Beach about 10 years ago and are VERY FINE. to start a new paragraph use- Recently imported from England is this very rare and exquisite English Regency Period Mahogany& Ebonized Gentleman's Wig Dresser-Circa 1810. The top quality construction and design is unsurpassed pointing to the best English cabinet maker. Gillows. This firm was prolific producers for the very wealthy. The interior is virtually perfect, original and operational! The wood is the best mahogany available and has a beautiful patina. The castors are original functional. One leg has a minor loss of trim yet not obvious and there are minor age and usage marks. Antique Empire Dresser, mahogany, mirror veneer, 19th century, good condition
An Empire Bureau. Or chest of drawers made of mahogany in the early half of the 19th century. This is a grand piece of furniture that would look great in any large space-hallway, large master bedroom, dining room. We had it in our hallway in a 1803 house in upstate New York. There are four large drawers and three small drawers at the top. The largest drawer is directly below the three small top drawers, consistent with the style. Drawer fronts are a mirror veneer, rest of the wood is solid. The drawer pulls are brass. This is a solid, well-built dresser. It is heavy. It stands about 52 inches high, is about 47 inches wide and about 21 inches deep. The drawers are about 16 inches deep. The finish is in relatively good condition; there are scrapes, scuffs, nicks and scratches but it would not necessarily need to be refinished. It stands 49" high, 42" across, 17" deep. The two small drawers on top are 3 1/2" high. They have round cookie corners. I believe this is from the late 1800s. It looks a little ruff but it is sturdy. This is a very nice dresser and would look even better if restored. There are a few glass knobs but are missing most of them. It has a sticker on the back that says west michigan furniture. The drawers have dovetails. The top drawer looks like it is warped. It looks like there is a new top of the dresser over the old. It does have some scratches and niks in the wood.It measures 47 1/4" tall. 27" wide, and a little over 18 1/2" in depth. This is a beautiful antique English dresser from 1810-30. It is made of walnut with a Yew Wood veneer on the front. Yew wood was usually only used in smaller veneered pieces or as accents to other veneers. The piece has two smaller drawers over three large drawers. It has a Biedermeier look to it. But the owner brought it in from England some years ago.you decide. The brass hardware is very old, but probably not original to the piece. The insides of the drawers are painted with silver radiator paint to protect against worms. It is in excellent condition. Antique Victorian Drop Center Marble Top Dresser w/ Pivot Mirror
A very cute little dresser brought up from Georgia to the Asheville NC area 20 years ago. Judging from the style and the candle shelves on either side. Late 19th Century. Features the original marble. Clean and unbroken, the original antique mirror, all of the original drawer pulls of figured brass, and the original casters. Original finish- has not been stripped. Stands about 80 inches high and 16 inches deep- it is a smallish piece and stands nice and shallow out from the wall- perfect for a small guest room or an accent to a large room. I'm not certain. But the wood is probably walnut. The five drawers all work just fine and have unusual'round peg dovetailing' construction(shown above in a detail shot) The hardware is ALL original EXCEPT that the bolts that originally held the pivoting mirror have been replaced by heavy screws. ... moreWhich doesn't affect the look of it too much(and they could be fairly inexpensively restored with something vintage) The mirror section is removable to facilitate moving. A very handsome piece. With minimal scratches and wear. The hand-carved details are a bit on the rustic side and not terribly fussy or'polished' workmanship. Almost folk arty. It is a solid piece and nice and usable still, with a decidedly'country' feel to it. The piece is actually quite light once the drawers are pulled out for transport and is not too heavy to lift at all. I love the carved details and personality of the thing! I do not want to ship it if I can help it- would prefer local sale. We live in Mars Hill. North Carolina, just 20 minutes from Asheville and easy directions to find us. I can help move it as well. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful. A hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely. As are the carved backboard and skirt. Antique Federal Inlaid Dressing/Shaving Stand With Mirror & Three Drawers
Antique Federal dressing/shaving mirror. It stands 30" tall. 22" across, and 10" wide. The shield shaped mirror alone is 23" x 14 1/2" It has line inlay, three feathers on each corner, and a conch shell in the center. There are three drawers. Two faux ivory discs, one on each side of the mirror. There is an old repair to a piece of inlay by the keyhole. The left side with the three feathers inlay has some damage. See pictures. With six spacious drawers, all constructed with hand cut dovetails, this dresser boasts an impressive amount of storage space. The drawer configuration is a two over three graduated drawer configuration with a secret drawer just above the two small drawers at the top of the chest. The drawers are adorned with Victorian style glass knobs ... morethat contrast very nicely with the mahogany of the drawer fronts. There are two beautiful barley twist columns going up the sides of the chest giving that true Scottish look to the piece. There are locks with beautiful brass escutcheons, but no key. Perhaps one of the more distinguishing features of this antique Scottish dresser is the fact that it is bow fronted. Finding a bow front Scottish chest with such beautiful barley twist columns is very unusual! This Scottish chest has an abundance of storage space and is an impressive size. Antique Three Drawer Dresser: Languedoc Marble Top w/ Grape Leaf Drawer Pulls.
This is an amazing three drawer dresser. Complete with marble top, grape leaf drawer pulls, and rolling casters for feet. The marble top is a languedoc stone that is found in France. It measures 48" x 22" x 1" The top is currently not mounted. This is how I discovered the piece and instead of re-mounting the marble. I would rather leave that option to the next owner. The body is made out of what I believe to be walnut. It measures 33 1/2" tall x 37 1/4" wide x 16 1/4" deep. The drawers are outlined in molding and have working locks(no key avail) Each drawer is garnished with two wooden grape/grape leaf drawer pulls. There are no obvious maker marks on the dresser.
