Antique Mahogany Newel Post and 12' Railing - SOLID WOOD - Architectural Salvage
Available here is an antique newel post and railing. These are made of solid mahogany. No veneer here. You can't get anything like this anymore! The newel post stands almost 5' high. It is approximately 57" from floor to top of finial. It is in three pieces, a square base with a rounded stand, the rounded post and the top finial. The largest part of the square base is approximately 17.75"x17.75" There are threaded rods on the inside that connect the base and post together, the finial sits on top. There are specks of white paint around the newel post. I will let the buyer decide how to remove it. This newel post is meant to be at the bottom of a staircase. The railing is 12' long and approximately 5.5" wide. It is also made of solid mahogany. The bottom of the railing mounts flush onto the newel post. The top ... moreof the railing has a hump back that turns into a corner and mounts to the wall. There are a few places where the edges on the bottom have partially broken off. Antique Wood Carved Column table/stand plant Shabby , Architectural salvage
Hi for sale I have a rare Antique solid wood carved Column. I believe the wood is either oak or mahogany. It is painted white and has a chippy patina. This piece could be used as an accent piece. Table, or plant stand. Only a few others online for sale. This piece measures: 49 1/8" tall x top diameter: 11 1/4" x bottom diameter: 11 1/8" square. The piece was handmade. This column is heavy and large. I put it on the bathroom scale and it had a weight of around 50 to 60 pounds. The column has a knotch at one of the top middle sections( see photo# 6) I believe this was put there so it would fit at a staircase. The wood has some slight cracks and as stated the paint is shabby and chippy. This item is smoke and odor free. Please e-mail me with any questions. Balcony Railing from an Old Church in NE Missouri - Architectural Antique
I have several views of this balcony railing that came from a church in Edina Mo. I have lots of it and can measure each section. Notice that one section has a curve to it and the post on one end raises up. must have been connect to a step. Some of the posts were attach to the wall and unfinished on one side and have an egg and dart carving. The railing is painted an old mustard color. really is darker than the pictures show. I have had this stored for years. I remember that one spindle was broken but I still have all of it and it would not be a problem to put it back on. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian home. It is made of walnut and is painted. The top has carved starbursts on 3 sides with decorative moldings above and below. The shaft is fluted with reel and bead molding at the corners. It is notched for the step but freestanding. The base is 7.5 inches square and the shaft is 6 inches. It is 46.75 inches tall. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. 60"H Antique Cherry Stair Landing Pilaster Staircase Newel Post Baluster Column
Penn Antique Restoration. 60"H Antique Victorian Cherry Pilaster. Charming. Antique, pilaster(half post) salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The piece is made of solid cherry, and has an unusual design consisting of 2 chamfered edges and 3 concave sides. The edges and sides taper at the top and all come together at a central point. There is a spectacular, carved floral motif on all 3, concave sides, at the top. On the opposite end, there is a smaller, more compact floral motif. This pilaster was installed against a wall. At the top of a landing. There was a matching newel post installed at the top of the stair case, which connected to this pilaster by a straight handrail. We are offering the post in another auction. There is a chance that we may have the original handrail, or at least one that could be used-email ... moreus for more info. The upper motif on the front side. Was cut short(about 2" slightly at the bottom. It was trimmed in order to cut a mortise(hole) for the handrail. If you like, we could patch/plug the mortise-email us for a quote. Refinish/Repaint: The pilaster is finished with a very dark stain. And painted white on the bottom. We could refinish, repaint, or partially/completely strip the post to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. Pair of circa 1890-1900 turned porch column posts. Unique turning- have not had this style in a# of years. The posts are 90& 87" long. The longer one. Shown in the first photo on the left has a bit of rot on the bottom- it could be cut down to 84" you'd have a good solid post devoid of any rot. They both are 7.75" square on the ends. Description This is a nice antique newel post that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted brown. The cap and the corners of the shaft are trimed in reel and bead molding. The top has bullseyes on 3 sides and Eastlake beveling at the corners. The shaft has fluting. It is not notched for the step. It measures 47.5 inches tall. 9 square at the largest part just below the cap, and is 7 inches square at the base. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are a few nail holes. Please see the pictures carefully. Ref: 71202 Shipping. Antique Vintage Solid Wood Columns Exterior Weathered Pair 90"

Here is a pair of big old solid wood columns(not hollow) They are w eathered but in decent conditi on overall. The bases show some rot. As these were stored outdoors for some time. I am leaving the bases attached for the listing. Since some folks may be i nclined to reb uild them; it app ears that these are all one piece. So the base is the same piece of wood as the co lumn. In order to remove them they wou ld need to be cut off. These columns are big and heavy. Probably about 200 pounds each. There are c racks and checks on them. But no major damage. Some of the tips of t he radius details have broke off. It looks like these were small pieces that were added to complete the curve(see pics) ... morethat have since fallen off. There is a little bit of paint on them but not much. I'm not sure what type of wood these are made of. These would make a great starting poi nt for a substantial pergola or archway. Or with a bit of repair these could be used on a porch. Whatever their original purpose. They are high quality and intricately decorated brass fittings, we think done in an Indian style. Possibly intended as fittings for stairwell columns, display pillers, bed posts, or even tusk decorations for an elephant statue, these 2 5/8 inch high items have wide bases that are 2 3/4 inches in diameter and tops that are 2 1/8 inches in diameter, for a slight cone shape. One of these nearly identical pieces has holes for nails, while the other doesn't. Together, they weigh 9.5 ounces. Both these fittings are in good overall condition. Some of the enamel dots are missing. But this is nothing that ruins the appearance of the items. One fitting appears to have been slid off its mounting on several occasions, and shows some internal wear(see photos) but this is nothing that would prevent its use. French Louis XVI Neoclassical Painted Twin Column Antique Marble Pedestal France. C. 1900-20 Note: the bronze pictured is NOT included in the sale; it is shown for display only. But may still be available in our inventory. Item# 120012IRQ07 This is a fine antique marble pedestal crafted in the French Louis XVI style. Of strong Neoclassical influence, probably designed in the first quarter of the 20th Century. With clean and precise lines, the two painted fluted columns span the entire length to lift a marble surface surrounded by a pierced brass gallery. It rests over a mottled red marble base sitting over a wooden apron. Perfectly crafted to hold the square base of a bronze sculpture, this is a highly unique and architecturally interesting marble pedestal for anyone with a collection of fine sculptures. Selling as a LOT- this group of crica 1870 exterior fence post newels with LARGE finials. There are some broken tops- there is also wear on the bottoms of the posts. Overall there are six good posts with finials- these can be reused for a fence project inside or out. Great old form& and nice old dry white paint. Posts measure 41" high. The finial tops are 16" in height. The square dimension of the posts at greatest point measure 7" are 4.75" square on the main shaft.
