It measures 45 inches wide. 20 inches deep and 32 inches tall to the marble top, 90 inches to the top of the mirror. It is solid walnut with burled walnut inlays and black ebonized detailing. It has beautiful carvings, a tilt mirror, glove boxes and dovetailed drawers. There are three main drawers with handles and a secret drawer on the bottom. Antique Swivel Dresser Mirror 1800's Beveled
Measuring 38.5 across the bottom and 36" high. I believe the wood to be maple- it measures about 28.5 inches across the area where it pivots(back photo illustrates the pivot hardware) Beveling is about an inch wide and the mirror has speckling of the silver consistent with its age. Reflection is clear without hazing. A very finely made antique. Circa 1800, French Empire mahogany veneers and solid mahogany dressing mirror in classical architectural form. Two pillars with ormolu mounts to the plinths and capitols support the pediment with lily of the valley wreath ornament. The ogee frame with holds the swivel original glass mirror with original back silvering. The mirror frame with glass is removable for shipment. case has a dovetailed drawer with ormolu wreath and knob. The drawer interior is quartersawn oak. The case secondary wood is maple. Measures 37-1/2" tall by 27-3/4" wide by 14-1/4" deep. Excellent condition: original finish without wear, boards without cracks or chips. 5-1/2" horizontal tight crack to veneer on top of case, and faint cracks to veneer on front very right top corner. Tiny veneer chips to back bottom edge right ... moreside. Ormolu finish bright without dulling or spots. Mirror without damage. Antique mahogany inlaid travel dresser case, chest 1700's? 1800's
Here we have today is a lovely antique mahogany travel dresser case. Chest from sometime between the 1700's-1800's. Not sure of the true age of the piece or where it was made, it just came with a note which read Georgian mahogany dressing case c 1780. Case has nice wood inlaid, it is 13 1/2" long, 10 1/2" wide and 7" tall. Piece has a main compartment with removal mirror, eight in laid boxes, two glass jars and lots of storage space. There is one main tray that can be removed. There is a bottom drawer which opens up and has a top lid. I could not get the drawer to go all the way back in and there is a crack to the wood bottom of the drawer. The lining of the case is cracked, all of the boxes are in good aged condition, no cracks to the removable boxes, the glass bottles have no cracks, there are some small chips to ... morethe edges, the mirror is in really good condition for it's age, and the pin cushion and other fabric covered pieces have wear, rips and spotting to the fabric. Box shows average wear for it's age, There is some inlaid missing from the top, there is a crack along the top, scuffs and scratches, but everything is tight and nothing is coming apart. The brass handles are tight and box once had a lock to it, but the key is long gone. There is a chip to the bottom front edge of the box, and fading to the wood at the ends of the box. This case is still a really nice antique piece which would be a great addition to anyone's collection.
