It has three mounting holes. There is an old age crack in the wood. It measures 24" in width by 7 1/2" in height by 6 3/4" in depth. The designs are not glued pieces, they are carved into the frame. The frame has 7sections. The top, two side frame pieces, and the bottom frame piece. There are also two side attachements with a bottom cross piece. Additionally, there are 4 arched feet. The frame featues exceptionally ornate and intricately carved wood. The top of the frame has very detailed leave and acorn carved design. This"headpiece" has an ornate arched lower section which is incised in a diamond design. Inside the diamonds are notches which make up 4 petaled flowers. A faux twist rope pattern is carved on the border. This topper is one piece of wood and attaches to the side frames at the upper ... morecorners(see photo12) The side frames are also incised/carved with overlapping leaves as well as the diamond cross hatched pattern. They are connected to side columns with dowls(there are no nail or screw holes present) The side columns feature turned wood with a gorgeous. Flower accent. The side columns continue to the ornate feet of the screen. The feet extend the same in the front and the back. They feature carved wood leaves with a bottom, carved flower. The feet are connected with a cross frame piece that is carved in an egg and dart design. The frame is exquisite. It is all carved with only 4 overlay pieces. These pieces are located at each corner. They are carved shells and are a much lighter colored wood. I am not exactly certain as to the type of wood. It is finished in a medium to darker brown stain. The four shell overlays are a golden colored wood. The frame is in extremely nice condition with very few dings or scratches. It has been beautifully preserved. This very large and very ornate frame at one time housed a lovely tapestry but it is gone. It would make a fantastic standing room divider/dressing screen or an amazing mirror frame. The dark background is richly decorated with painted scenes from life or literature. Wooden panels are coated with pale clay followed by several layers of lacquer. The design is carved into the lacquer before paint is applied to the underlying clay. Creating a textured surface with recessed color. This is a beautiful antique book shelf that was once attached to the top of an old deck. This piece is approximately c1900 and I think it is oak. The ends are carved leaves and berries. The black dots you may see are from my camera lens. I do not see any repair s or real issues. They are asymmetrical with dimensional curves galore. Scrollwork flourishes and acanthus leaves. Found at an estate auction, I am not sure of their age, but they are most likely early twentieth century. They all appear to have the original finish. With minor blemishes and are in sound condition. There is no evidence of repairs or breaks that I have noticed.but there is a slight discoloration from whatever was displayed on each shelf surface. Each has an eyelet fitting for hanging on the wall. Measurements are 4-1/4“width ... morex 4-7/8“high and each extends out 2-3/4” from the wall. Each shelf is 2-1/2" deep and weighs 2 ounces. ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL DAY BED FRAME FIREPLACE SCREEN DIVIDER CARVED WOOD DRAGONS
We are pleased to offer this very unique. Architectural salvaged daybed frame. This old(mid to late 1800s) 2 section piece would make a beautiful and interesting fireplace screen, room divider, wall hanging or accent floor piece. It is very nice with a tall plant behind it. It is a constructed of solid wood(oak? panels with a carved, arched top section. The ends of each upper frame feature VERY DETAILED, carved wood, dragon heads. The heads have carved eyes, ears, nostrils and large incisor teeth/fangs. The two panels were, at one time, painted. There is some remaining OLD paint but most of it has worn and the wood is a natural color in these areas. The panels are footed. The original, front facing foot is the only"whole" foot as the others were side or back feet so they have a"sliced" profile. The original bolts, attachment ... morelock, brackets and hinges are still in place but could be removed. The unit is in good condition. There is some wear to the carved dragons, particularly to the ears as a couple of them have chipped. This is not distracting. This is a gorgeous piece. We have the matching unit available under a separate listing. It is the same except that it does not have a front"whole" foot. The piece can be displayed with a straight profile or it can be positioned as an"L" shape. The hinges(which are hidden in between the panels) allow for the unit to be folded. The frame measures 49" wide and 27" tall. IT IS EXTREMELY HEAVY. Shipping via GREYHOUND with insurance provided for you.
