History behind the tiles: For your consideration is a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of history. These tin tiles were salvaged from the Grand Piano Building in historic downtown Hagerstown. MD. Built in 1900 it became one of Hagerstown's first department store. Over the years it has been converted several times, but recently has laid unused. As the building is being redeveloped the tin ceiling tiles have been removed and are being sold to either be reused, or hung as artwork. Description: Several designs are available to acquire. And more will be added as they are recovered. The pieces may need restoration work to be used in future projects. They also do show some scuffing, scratches, small holes and dents around the mounting holes. Some residue rust on the back of the tile may be present from the stripping process. It does have ... moreseveral small holes through the tile. Dimensions 24" x 24" Options: Stripped: We will strip the paint off the tiles. Cleanse it from any remaining lead from the original paint that may remain. They will arrive unpainted and bare. We have a large quantity of tile in stock. Antique ceiling tin dragon design three (3) pieces
Hello. Up for auction are three(3) antique pieces of ceiling tin with dragon design or motif. All are in great condition considering their age(I am guessing that they are from some time around the turn of the last century.they came out of a local home that was being renovated.may possibly be older than that. These pieces are the same pattern as my other listing. But one is clearly a corner piece and the other two DO match up to make one whole dragon image, but they are two pieces. The larger piece measures 25 1/2" along one longer side and about 22" along the opposite side.it's about 14 1/2" on the shorter side. The two smaller pieces are slightly different sizes, but as mentioned, they do match up to form one tile.one measures approx. 14 1/4" x 14 3/4" and the other measures approx. 15 3/4" x 14 3/4" ... moreThe brown on the one is not all rust, just the base color.the small bits of rust that are there are very superficial and should clean up fine(this would be left to the winning bidder to do) The paint is extremely chippy and may not all stay on during shipment.it has become very dry over the years and even the handling for my taking the pics has caused more to fall off. You are bidding on 49 tiles that are over 100yrs old and measuring 24" X 24" each. These tiles are from an over 100 yr old building in Lawrenceville. GA. They are now located in Newnan, GA where pick-up is required. There is a total of 49 tiles. Of which, 21 are in good condi tion, 18 are in fair condition and 10 are in rough condition, considering their age and not the best storage conditions. They have varying degrees of rust but are still very beautiful, and someone with an artistic talent and the proper tools can make them into works of art. Here I have 12 tin tiles- I'm not sure if they were used on a ceiling. As they are a different size at 8"x6" They are beautiful floral patterned, blocked in squares. I had bought these to put in glass cabinets doors instead of the glass, and never got around to it, and we have since moved where there are no doors like this in our kitchen. They are original with original paint, which means probably lead. They are also chipping, which is normal, and they have some rust on the back, again normal for aged metal. They're in really good shape. They are mostly flat(although a little variation in flatness should be expected) and the non-painted sides have no rust and very little wear. Salvaged Tin Ceiling, Approx 700sq Ft
I have approx 84. Pieces of 2x4 ceiling tin. This ceiling was salvaged from an old general store in New Athens, IL that was damaged during the flood of 1993. I purchased this to put in a room of our home, but how quickly things change with kids! Some pieces have holes from knob and tube wiring, some may have holes from light fixtures, etc. a few have rust from ceiling leaks. All have about 50% of the paint remaining. I was going to have them dipped locally to remove the paint. I also have several filler pieces and cornice pieces I will throw in(not pictured) Come view in person in Alton, IL. Huge Lot of Antique Tin Ceiling tiles--from hotel built in 1900
We are selling all of the ceiling tile from the old Parkview Hotel on the eastside of Jefferson City. Built in 1900. The first floor is now home to a bar and restaurant and the tile had to be removed to soundproof the ceiling for the apartments being renovated above. There are more than 90 pieces(we didn't count the few that were cut pieces. Overly bent, etc. There are 18 pieces that measure 14 inches by 4 ft, 45 pieces that measure 2 ft by 4 ft, 2 pieces that are 2 ft by 2 ft, 4 pieces that are 20 inches by 4 ft, and 21 pieces that are cove pieces that measure 9 inches by 4 ft. These are beautiful authentic(real antique tiles not old tin that has been pressed into ceiling tile molds) lot that a friend removed from an old building in the MS Delta. I have approx 46. Pieces of 2’ x 4’ ceiling tin tiles they are really 24" x 24" tiles that are in one 2' x 4' piece because they are authentic and have not been cut apart but are as when removed from the ceiling so there are 92 24" x 24" individual tiles if they were cut. This ceiling was salvaged from an old building in Drew MS. One piece has a hole from light fixtures and there are a few that have rusted through or bent spots, and most the edges have nail holes where they were mounted on the ceiling they have rust on the sides and on the backs. This auction is for a sheet of tin ceiling. Vintage from 1923. That is when the house it came from was erected. It is in good overall shape, no rust of note and it has some nail holes from where it was up. Pickup only, shipping would be possible in theory but only if the buyer is ok with the sheet being rolled up for shipping and possibly bent, and an extra $15 for handling on top of the shipping cost, which requires me to roll it up and pack it safely. Your risk, I would do my best and promise no more than that. This is the pebble pattern, aluminum painted on front. You have to bang flat those edges a bit in the sharp areas where it was nailed.
