This is a beautifully crafted antique Shaker. Soft brown leather, silk lined Roll Up case for needles, thimble& thread. The main case cylinder held spools of thread& a place for a thimble. This is followed by a silk gathered pocket for other skeins& threads. A leather implement holder is then followed by a beautifully embroidered arrangement of flowers& leaves on a cream colored, three layered wool needle holder. This case measures 5" wide, 2" in diameter& when fully opened, 10" long. In very good antique condition, this lovely piece would make a fine addition to any antique sewing collection!

Fabric trimmed, graduated spool case with corner thimble case, embroidered pin cushion& six graduated thread spools held in place with a cord drawn through metal edged holes at the box sides& tied with a bow. This chair was found in an old house in Lancaster. MA. There was a Shaker colony directly to the east of Lancaster in Harvard, MA, and another directly to the north of Lancaster in Shirley, MA. We cannot say that this is definitely a Shaker chair, but it does have a certain characteristics of the Shaker style, with its fairly plain stiles and stretchers. ... moreIt is most certainly made by hand. There is a certain uneven quality to its construction; the left hand facing rear stile is 45” in height while the right hand facing rear stile is 44 ½” in height; however, the vasiform turnings at the base of the legs are of uniform height. There are hand-made square nails used in its construction. This is a four(4) slat ladder back arm chair which retains an old stained surface. It has four back slats which are curved on top and flat on the bottom. Indicating a New England origin. The slats are made of oak; the rest of the chair is most probably ash or maple. The rush seat is in useable condition; there are several small areas of broken rush but the seat is still sturdy. It has shaped arms terminating in round pad hand rests which show plenty of wear. The stiles are topped with acorn and nipple finials which also display a great deal of wear. The plain turned double front stretchers also display wear. The legs terminate in vasiform turnings below the lower stretchers. The front stiles display the same vasiform turnings above the seat rail and below the hand rests. From our American Primitives collection of 40 years. A stunning example of a very early apple peeling tool/device. We travelled many time to New England, and enjoyed Shaker country. We do NOT claim this to be Shaker. It was found in New Hampshire long ago. It appears to have been used in an upright position, no doubt as part of a bench type device. Please note the lighter band of wood at the base, and the hole position, which may have had a wooden dowel insert to bench. We think it is of walnut wood. The wheel is amazing, with many score marks, and a tiny nail of some sort added once near the hole. The braces are hand forged, and there are wooden pegs, later added to with forged nails. It is missing the"fork tool" which held the apple. It has no sign of having any other missing parts, and we feel it was a very early peeler, which ... moreturned the apple, while a hand peeler was held to the apple. Lovely warm patina and great chamfering. This displays well either counter-top or hanging-thanks to that bottom hole! It made a great towel-hat-apron rack in my country kitchen! ANTIQUE MIXER SHAKER KITCHENWARE
This antique kitchen shaker says Shak-Rite. Rockford Ill(the old style abbreviation) Serial number A1908. It is a very early electric kitchen device. It is very rare, you won't find another one like it anywhere, and in my opinion could easily be in a museum of early twentieth century kitchenware. It still works! The porcelain paint is baked on a heavy metal cast, it must weigh 40 pounds. All original. The condition is beautiful considering it's significant age. Some minor flaking of the paint towards the base. Nicer than any Kitchenaid or Hamilton Beach. This is a serious piece for a collector.
