This"portrait" mask represents a female peasant and is typically used in the celebration known as Karneval. Fasching or Fasnacht(sometimes Fastnacht) Fasching is the pre-Lent festival equivalent. Usually beginning the week before Ash Wednesday. Soon after Fasching season opens. A mock government of eleven guilds( Zünfte) are elected. Along with a carnival prince and princess who basically plan the carnival festivities. 19th Century European Inlaid Hall Chair Black Bird German Solid Carved
An excellent mid c1830-60 German inlaid Hall chair with a Blackbird on the back rest. And a star-burst on the seat. The chair is an antique. All original, so the seat's starburst inlaid area is not completely flat along the edge, but it is soundly in place. Also. The seat has a crack that is about that ends at the starburst, but is holding there, not spreading further, due to the structured support underneath. So. It has character and is a very sound chair. The chair's 37" high. 16 1/4" widest(seat front) and from the back to the front of the seat is ~18" From an Estate. And was brought over from Europe, and was passed down from the 1857. Another piece from my antique collection: This antique old German Silver is hand carved and. If you wanted to use it, I never have, it can be used as intended; a pitcher or ewer. The carving goes all the way around the body and is quite stunning! I can't read the markings on the body too well. There is a figure of a head in the smaller circle and what is clearly seen is the word"soft 11" You can also see"germany" on it, but can't read anything else. You will see in one photo. The dent on the bottom section, and this is how I bought the piece. Antique Black Forest Style Wood Barometer Thermometer Hygrometer German Carved
Unusual antique carved wood German barometer/thermometer/hygrometer. The piece has"B. Straub" carved on the front and lettering is all in German. I've not seen one that has the hygrometer included. Rather unique. The glass covering the hygrometer needs to be cleaned however. The thermometer section is porcelain with no chips or cracks. The barometer section is also in nice condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. The carving well done in a Black Forest German style.The back side has tin covering the thermometer and barometer sections. It measures 16 1/4" by 6 3/4" approximately. Vintage Mid Cent.German Black Forest Coffee Table + 2 End Tables Hand Carved
Up for bids is a very unique set of 3 1950's Hand Carved Black Forest tables. You are getting a rectangle coffeee table and 2 end tables. The coffee table measures 18 3/4 tall by 55 inches long and 22 inches wide. There is some slight wear on the top around the outside of the inlaid carvings. It appears to be either fading or some slight water damage. Nothing in our opinion that cannot be repaired. The metal table edging does have sone scrapes and a small crack. The inside carved area is in perfect condition.The 2 end tables are 2 tier and they measure 20 inches wide by 26 1/2 long by 26 inches tall. Each table has a crack in the glass where the upper tier braces connect to the bottom. One crack is all the way across and the other is just an inch or so. Up for auction is a vintage(1963) German hand carved wooden figurine. The figurine is a music orchestra director in bow tie and tuxedo with tails. The writing on front is in German and the top word is Director. On the bottom it tells that he was made in 1963 and that there was a repair done in 1977. The carving shows a lot of detail and the repair is done well and not noticeable when displayed. Please see all the pictures. This tie-rack or hand towel rack was in my father-in-law's estate and probably dates from his trip across europe in the early'50's with his new wife though we can't be sure of the age. The figures are all hand carved as a piece and then were pinned with wooden slats in the back(see photo) In nice condition as it's been gently used by the family over the years.

Antique Hand Fan Carved Wood & Fabric w/ LITHOGRAPH WOMAN in WOODS - GERMAN?
This is an antique folding hand fan. It is made of wood with cloth. The wood portion has a pierced/carved floral and scroll inset design on some of the blades and the fabric is a very muted bluey/green color with a lithographed picture of a Woman in the Woods. The back of the fan has a handwritten inscription on it. unfortunately we can't make it out. It looks like it is perhaps German- I say this because one of the words has the two dots(umlaut) over the letter. No rips or tears. But some discoloration due to age. The blades of the fan measure 10-1/2 inches in length and when opened measures about 19-1/2 inches across. There is a small brass loop and an interesting little decorative screw holding the fan together. Condition is not perfect, but nice considering its age. You will see very minor fraying along the top edge of the fabric ... moreand one small upper corner is loose. Otherwise I think this is a very nice old piece! Wood Dog Figure, German Dachshund Form, Hand-Carved, Early 20thC., Black Forest?
A highly detailed. Hand-carved wooden dog figurine in the form of a Dachshund, most likely German or Swiss, early 20thC. Unmarked, but certainly in the Black Forest style, this piece is well-crafted from soft pine or linden. The level of intricate detail and overall proportion is quite perfect. The overall condition is very good with age-appropriate wear throughout. The front and rear paws on the left side have small chips; there is an area of loss on the right ear; and an area of repair on the front right paw. There also appears to be a few areas with a gold finish(forehead& rear hindquarters) Please see photos for details and further description. VINTAGE HAND CARVED GERMAN SHEPARD DOG
This dog is not an antique- but it is approximately 30 years old and carved by an unknown to me person. I owned a GSD in the 80's and bought this carving at a flea market back then. It is not an exquisite carving by any means but it is clearly home made and depicts the breed extraordinarily well for being of such simple design. I added the bandana because my dog used to wear one. The dog measures 12.5 inches from nose to tail and stands 9 inches tall and 3" wide. It's simple. Charming. Priced to sell as are all my items.

The clock is 100% original with no restoration or touch-up. Notice that this clock tells time with its eyes- the hour with the left eye and the minute with the right. The back cover on the clock is signed"OSUHR- D.R.P- D.R.G.M- Patented U.S.A Aug. 31st. 1926- Patented Gr. Brit Nr. 276738 1926- Brevet Brevetto Patente. The movement is signed"Oswald" and stamped with a date 10.29. The clock is running strong but could use a good oiling- I cannot guarantee it will keep good time. This is quite sizeable for one of these clocks- ... morethe largest I have seen. It measures 9 1/2 inches high and about 3 inches by 4 inches. It weighs in at about 2 lbs. The clock is in excellent original condition with 100% original finish. There is a small chip to the corner of the carved book on which the owl perches. I have taken a close photo to show this. It is hardly noticeable when the clock is sitting on a shelf. I think this is a very early example of an Oswald clock. They later switched the eyes to lighter colours so the time could be told easier. The carving on this example is much finer than any other example I could find. He has a thick beard with hair that has thinned on the crown. The face has been beautifully carved and oozes character. Antique German ? Italian ? Wood Carved Figurine of a Doctor Surgeon
This item is an antique European carving of a doctor with the round headlamp. Rubber surgical gloves, and lab coat. I believe this carving maybe Italian in origin as I have seen numerous Italian wood carvings of this style. Unfortunately, this item isn't marked. The base measures 2" by 2" inches approximately. This item is in good condition with no damage and good color. The buyer pays $4.95 for US Mail shipping but overseas shipping is based on the buyer's location. Old 1800's German hand carved violin from performing violinest estate sale
Hello. I bought this violin from the family of a performing musician. It is hand carved and very high quality of work. I am not a violin expert but do love the craftsmanship. The violin is just over 23.5" long and the back is just over 14" The violin is from the 1800's but the date has faded away on the label. The music store said it was hand carved and been repaired along time ago but it is stable and sounds and plays good. You can see the label inside but it is hard to read, I have no idea who the person is who made it is, the label reads: Helnrido Th Heberlien Jr Markenkirchen(date faded away) Made in Germany I don't know if it is spelled correctly it is hard to read. I am selling the violin as is just the way you see it in the pictures. It comes with it's old coffin case. Thanks

Inscribed German 1947 Hand Carved Figure Man with Sack
1947 Wood Carved Figure from Germany German Hand Carved Wooden Figure from 1947"The Working Man with the Sack" is 8" high and 5" wide. Possibly a maker's mark above the word"Germany" on the front of the base. See photo. This carving is of a man with a feather in his cap. A serious, hard working expression on his face, well defined, large, strong hands, button hole details on his jacket, carved creases in his pants behind the knees, strong sturdy work boots with detailed tread around the bottom edges and a very heavy, large sack on his back causing him to bend under the weight and bear the load on his strong shoulders and legs. On the bottom of the base is the date written as(it appears to be in pencil) 4 October 1947" along with the word"Claire" Both the date and the name Claire are underlined ... moretwice as if to show their importance to the carver. This figure will be a nice addition to any collection.
