This auction is for this beautiful carving of a mother fox and her young cub or kit. It is delicately and intricately carved showing magnificent detail. It is carved from walnut by a master carver of Brienz, Switzerland. Mother Fox stands on carved alpine rocks and looks around for prey while her young cub it sitting at her feet. Antique. Possibly Black Forest hand carved wooden eagle. Measures about 4¼" tall, 5¼" across the eagle's wing span. Carved from one piece of wood and mounted on i believe, a burl wood base, which may not be original to the carving. The eagle is not without wear and tear through out the years. The both wings have been repaired. Small chips on wing tips, light wear on the beak. Base is missing a piece and has chips on the backside. Oddly, a bits of white paint on the back wings. This is the mate to the Angel Lustermanol I have passed on to another caretaker.I became the caretaker of a set of Twin angels.The first being a Lustermanol which I ran a couple of weeks ago.This angel held a tag on her back which told the Original from 1755 was carved by the master carver Ignaz Gunther(can be found on Google) and hung in the Wurmgau Museum in Germany, his son produced these two in 19th century as a tribute to his fathers work I am told.She is larger then her Lustermanol sister,she is 36 1/2 wide from wing tip to wing tip x 27" tall from foot to top of head.Her wings are attached by 2 screws in the begining of her life they were held by wooden diles.She is missing a hand but I do have a replace but not from era of 1800's,the other hand has been replaced as I can see no paint has been applied. Offered for sale is this exquisite German Black Forest wood carving"Squirrel on tree trunk" The squirrel is grabbing a little animal on its left front claws and the right front claws are grabbing the trunk. The tree trunk is surrounding by some leaves. Tree fern and rocks. The piece has one or two leaves damage and some old worm bites, overall it is in excellent condition for age. No signature and the exact age unknown, probably 1900's or so. The trunk is hollow on top, it size about 2-1/2"in depth. x 2-3/4"in diameter. It can hold a candle inside but this is too good to be a candle holder. The piece measures 6-3/4"H x 7-1/2"W x 6"Deep. The piece is heavy nice wood. Wonderful Black Forest carving of an owl perched on a book. Purchased in 1955. Carved by master carver Rudolf Moroder of Mayrhofen. Tyrol, Austria. The Moroder family was well known for it's high quality carvings. 7 1/2" H. I love the way that it has the pages of the book turned up. Age split to the back side and some water staining. Great dry surface. Labeled with it's history on the bottom. The initials MR carved on the plinth of the left side. Valborg and Walter Ude are major benefactors to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

This great old hand carved sculpture stands just about 13" tall on a which measures 6 by 8 inches. It's in good condition but does have some flaws and restoration. There is a chip off the woman's foot and the bow in back of her dress. But the worst damage is in the neck area where her head was re-attached. Even with these flaws. Black Forest Carving Bearded Man With Backpack
Bought at the estate of a retired military man this is a highly detailed wood carved man with backpack. He is wearing a hat and has a flask around his waist. He is weary looking and resting against a tree stump. This piece is quite large measuring 19 inches tall and 7 inches wide. The sale tag said it was a Black Forest carving but it is not signed so I don't know for sure. Has 3 old cracks in the wood but they do not take away from this wonderful sculpture. Posted with

Vintage Black Forest Wooden Carving Bearded Man Old Estate Find Sculpture Wood
Here for auction is what I believe to be a vintage Black Forest wood carving. This stands approx 6" tall and is a figure of a bearded older man. It appears to be in very good condition although I really have no idea as to its age. it came from an older estate from a box full of quite old items. Nicely carved with nice colors to it. Interestingly it has a woven fabric or straw rather at the base that is then lined with an intricate blue cloth and also some gold trim. I see no makers mark anywhere. Great expression on his face and is a very nice carving. I offer this as found and as shown and have done my best to describe it.
