ANTIQUE AUSTRIAN BIEDERMEIER work / sewing table w INLAID SYCAMORE & BURL WOOD
MORE PHOTOS BELOW You are bidding on a lyre based Austrian Biedermeier side table/work/ sewing table. It measures approx. 31 1/4 inches tall and the top is approx. 16 by 21 inches. The table has a wonderful inlaid top and side skirt with beautifully grained light wood Sycamore and Sycamore burl wood. There is a single pull out draw with a small notch on the underside center for the fingers to grab. The legs have a beautiful lyre shaped sweeping style with some darker wood accents. This is an original Austrian Biedermeier table from around 1830 or so and NOT any type of later reproduction. The inlay and design of this table put it head and shoulders above any other Biedermeier tables you may see offered for sale on eBay. The single draw has compartments making me think this was originally designed as a sewing table but it would make a great ... moreoccasional or lamp table. CONDITION: Fair to good. There are some small old repairs to the top. See photos. There is also a stress crack in the top running along the back from right to left that was probably caused by shrinking of the top at a diferent rate than the sub structure. This could be repaired but is not all that noticeable the way it is. The draw works smoothly and the legs are solid with no movement. It needs a little tweeking but all in all it is in great condition considering it's age. Please scroll down and examine all the photos. I welcome all questions too. Antique Burl Wood Snuff Box with Mother of Pearl and Faux Tortoise Shell C:1800
Beautifully lined in faux tortoise shell. Mother of pearl inlay on top. This snuff box has a blind hinge. It was purchased in England and is from about 1800. Excellent condition with one very minor crack to the wood on the hinge. There are no other imperfections. Very unusual for such an old piece. It measures 3 3/4" by 2 1/8" As you can see from the article which is in one of the pictures. A major magazine shows the value of a box(not nearly as nice as this one) about double what we are asking!

Burl wood has a feudal dark stain that could use reconditioning- some loose dowels but very minor. And nothing major that could not be glued a little. This is a Fabulous Signed 1800s J J Elliott Burl Wood Bracket Mantle Clock it is simply stunning in beauty! The clock has Samuel Kirk& Son. Inc. Baltimore M. Made in England on the dial face so I'm assuming it was made for the famous Baltimore MD. Silversmith Samuel Kirks company that started in 1815. This clock has an 8 day movement signed that chimes on the 1& the 1/2 hour and it works great! The clock is old is shows signs of wear and some fading but over all it is still in fantastic condition. J J Elliott is a well known English clock maker that is known for making high quality movements. I do not know the age but by the looks of the case and movement I guess around 1880s. The wood has crazing or shrinkage lines but it truly just adds to it's wonderful look. It has the original pendulum I do also have the original key ... morebut it is not in the photos the door key is also the original door key. A beautiful. Rare Imperial Russian fantasy burl wood cigarette case. These Russian burl wood cigarette cases have been touted as being designed by Peter Carl Faberge. It has been said that he would give them as gifts to important clients. The craftsmanship is extraordinary, and it has been created with what is refered to as a seamless or blind hinge. The front edge of the lid has been constructed with a slightly bowed lip in the center which is used to open the case. But one hinge area completely severed and the other is partially damaged. There is one small crack to the box near the hinge and some light usage wear elsewhere. There is a strip of burled wood down the center of the upper and lower pieces and the front of the lower doors have burled wood on them as well as a nicely designed inlaid tiger wood strip. This piece has great patina. The veneer has bubbled and chipped in a couple of spots but its hardly noticeable. The over all condition of this piece is excellent for its age. It is a very old antique and will not be perfect. I do not know the exact date it was made or who the maker is. The base measures 39 inches tall, 53 inches side to side and 23 inches front to back. It weighs 75 pounds. The top measures 34 ½ inches tall, 49 1/8 inches side to side and 17 1/8 inches front to back. It weighs 97 pounds. Antique Serpentine Walnut Burl Wood Cabinet
Purchased this cabinet in a London market and I believe it is from the early 1900's. The walnut burl wood was replaced and the cabinet was french polished by a furniture craftsman in England. The cabinet is not pristine. But it is a very cool piece. Some of the veneer seams are slightly separated and the door veneer is split in several places(see photos) and also has some veneer popped up on the right side of the door. A quality furniture craftsman could repair or replace the finish on the door. Items on and in the cabinet are not included. 42 1/2 tall X 43 1/2 wide at the back X 15 1/2 deep I am listing this as local pick up. VINTAGE FRENCH Time Worn Treasures This gorgeous antique French burl wood box dates to around the mid to late 19th century. The box has a number of veener inlays. The most decorative being used on the lid. The larger section being walnut burl. With stringing of ebony and oak. Inset into the middle of the walnut is a fabulous marquetry cartouche of ebony and brass. 3 of the sides are again made from burl wood and the front side. I believe from oak. There is a little brass key hole but alas the key is no longer with the box. On the inside is a duck egg blue silk. Unfortunately the silk is grubby and there is some areas where it has gone thru. The box is a little timeworn. In that it has a slightly warped lid. And some of the veneer has cracked and there are little dings at the corners. The cartouche has lost a tiny piece of ebony. Please study ... morethe photographs carefully. As I took shots of all the sides to give you a good visual description. For all its small faults. This box is still beautiful to behold and could either have some gentle restoration. Or even stay as it is. It has a fabulous classic elegance. It measures 7¾" square and is 3" tall. The company was known for its"royalty designs" and finest craftsmanship using fancy woods and unique veneers to showcase stunning designs. These pieces are part of a whole bedroom set but being offered also as individual pieces. Made of walnut burl wood which was the most decorative veneer used in the period and much sought after and considered a"prized possession" It also features a masterful intricate marquetry design. Additionally it shows carved details. Overall largest measurements are approximately: Dresser: 61" wide x 20" deep x 36" high- the center part is 28" wide x 30-1/2" high. Either drawer's side is 16-1/2" wide x 36" high, all ... more20" deep. Stoo l bench: 30" wide x 26" high(to the seat's top itself is about 19" and is about 16" deep. It has been recently re-upholstered The frame is 26" wide x 48" high and finely carved. The glass is in excellent condition. Beautiful walnut dresser with burl wood accents. This dresser has been in our family for four generations. It is in excellent condition. It has scratches. Mainly on the top as shown and the top drawer needs a pin to hold the drawer pull on. The drawer pull is with the dresser. The dimensions are: 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep,and approximately 87 inches tall. This dresser has had tender loving care through the years, however some specks of paint did manage to get on a few spots as shown in photos.The back of the dresser is as good as I could get by myself. Here is a wood ash burl bowl from the 18thC/ 19thC from upstate NY. The out of round diameter is 10.5 x 11 inches across the top with a depth of between 4.5 inches and 5 inches tall. The thin wall of wood is approx 1/2 inch width and bowl has a wider rim and small foot. The previous owners' family have always had it from generation to generation and say it was possible Woodland Indian. I do not know on that information but do know it could be possibly be so. C.1820 ANTIQUE MAPLE BURL WOOD RAISED FOOT BASE BOWL
I JUST FOUND THIS REALLY EARLY AND FINE THICK TURNED MAPLE WOOD BOWL FROM AN OLD COLLECTORS ESTATE. THEY BOUGHT THIS IN THE 1960'S AND HAS NOT BEEN ON THE MARKET SINCE THAT TIME. FIRST PHOTO SHOWS ITS TRUEST COLOR ON OUTSIDE OF BOWL THOUGH IT IS JUST A HAIR LIGHTER. THE OTHERS ARE JUST A HAIR LIGHTER THAN IT IS IN PERSON. I USED ALL 12 PHOTOS AVAILABLE TO SHOW ALL PARTS OF ITS SURFACE ALL THE WAY AROUND. INTERIOR WAS NEVER SCRUBBED DOWN TO OPEN THE GRAIN OR PATINA. THERE ARE LIGHT CHOP MARKS FROM DECADES OF REAL USAGE. THIS CAME FROM AN OLD OHIO COLLECTOR AND IM SURE IS FROM THIS AREA MAYBE THE GREAT LAKES AREA OR PENNSYLVANIA. DESPITE ITS SIZE IT WEIGHS A SOLID 3 1/2 POUNDS. IT IS DEFINATLY MAPLE AND AMERICAN. YOU CAN SEE AT BASE IN ONE AREA WHERE THERE IS A BEAUTIFUL KNOT OF VERY FINE BURL. A FEW OLD SMOOTHED CHIPS UNDER THAT BASE EDGE. ... moreUNDER BASE HAS A VERY SMOOTH SURFACE. YOU CAN SEE 4 PIN MARKS UNDER BASE WHERE I BELIEVE THIS WAS MOUNTED WHEN IT WAS TURNED. YOU CAN SEE SMOOTH TURNING LINES TO OUTSIDE SURFACE. A FEW VERY VERY MINOR EDGE CHIPS AT TOP THAT IS SMOOOTHED OVER FROM REAL USAGE. A COUPLE SHORT TIGHT STABLE LINES,ONE AT TOP AND ONE AT BASE. 2 OPEN SPOTS OF THE BURL GRAIN THAT HAVE VERY SLIGHTLY OPENED OVER TIME AND YOU CAN SEE WHERE THEY PUT IS SOME TYPE OF FILLER AND THEN DARKENED IT WITH STAIN. THEY PROBABLY DID THAT ABOUT 100 YRS AGO. A BIT OF THAT HAS COME OUT BUT IT IS ALL VERY STABLE. THIS HAS A VERY UNUSUAL RAISED FOOT THAT IS VERY SOLID AND IS ABOUT AT LEAST 1 INCH THICK FROM THE BOTTOM CURVED OUT INTERIOR OF BOWL WHICH REALLY GIVES THIS GOOD WEIGHT AND WAS MADE THAT WAY SO IT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CRACK WHEN USED. A WELL THOUGHT OUT PIECE. SURFACE LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN VERY LIGHTLY WAXED MAYBE 30-40 YRS AGO. A FEW SLIGHT BURN MARKS ON TOP EDGE ONLY IN ONE AREA AS SHOWN IN 1ST PHOTO. A FEW LIGHT SCORCH MARKS UNDER BASE TOO THAT ARE MINOR AND NOT DEEP CHARRING. THIS IS A TRUE ANTIQUE BOWL. AND IS DEFINATLY PRE 1850 WITHOUT A DOUBT. Note the burl of the wood and the joinery detail on the side and the lovely little brass latch and hinge. There are even secret numbers on the interior of the box written with ink in old script. perhaps the combination to an old safe. oh the stories this box can tell! In today's world.
