Vintage, casement window stays salvaged from the windows of a former cream production plant(see last photos) in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The plant was built during the 1890's, however, these most likely replaced the originals sometime during the middle of the previous century. Each stay is made of solid steel. And was originally brass plated. Much of the plating wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. The amount of plating varies from part to part(see"Group photos" to compare) If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. It keeps the window open at a specified distance from the sill. When you wish to open the window, loosen the knob by simply turning it in a counter clockwise direction. Open the window as far as you like, and once you wish to lock it in place, simply turn the knob clockwise until can't turn anymore. This will prevent wind from moving the window. At the point of salvage. The stays were painted, dirty, and rusty(see"Prior to restoration" photo) Since then, we've spent hours removing the paint, cleaning the dirt and rust from the outside of each stay, and greasing them to facilitate their movement. All stays are in great shape with no breaks. Cracks, deep scratches, or gouges. All moveable parts move smoothly. The stays are about 31cm( 12" long with a screw down position locker, the rat tail on these has a nice twist to it, and the rat tail window catches are about 9cm long now there are no female catch parts but these can easily be obtained, the condition very good but are reclaim and still have original paint on the and are not cleaned up

Pair Original 1930s Vintage Art Deco Designer Solid Brass Chromed Window Stays G
This is a superb pair of original 1932 vintage Art Deco designer window stays- they are heavily chromed over heavy solid brass. They have a fluted classic art deco design to the handle. They are 28cms(11 inches) overall. They came from the windows of a quality house in Twickenham that was built in 1932. They are very heavy at 400 grams the pair. I am listing concurrently about 16 of these in lots of two to enable purchasers to buy as many or as few as they wish– I will combine postage to reduce costs for multiple lots. I am also listing a number of the matching window turn handles. Bearing in mind they are over 80 years old they are in good usable condition. They are not damaged but some of them have an age patina and on some the chrome is slightly worn and you can see traces of the brass in places. They could be polished up and used as they ... moreare– or even buffed down to the brass. They measure about 11.5 inches closed and extend to about 19 inches, including screw holes. They do not have any identification markings. Pair are in good condition-one has been stripped and was polished at one time( please scroll down for additional photos) Mailed same or next business day. They can be shipped in a padded priority flat rate envelope with bubble wrap and cardboard protector to save on postage. But will not be as well protected as in a carton.
