I did not clean them becuase some people like the"chippy" look. The paint does come off relatively easy. All of them turn freely. Some need a little more effort than others but all do move easily. These are not solid brass, they are some sort of cast brass because they are magnetic. You will receive 6 screws with eash set as well. Most of the screws are like the ones pictured, I do have some that are phillips head. By chance you dont need or want the screws please let me know.
