ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART WOODEN SWAN WEATHERVANE ORIGINAL PAINT AAFA
Freshly found. This wonderful swan or hissing goose folk art weathervane has a fabulous, strong presentation in its folky form. Measuring approximately 39” in total length by 11” wide at the widest and about one inch thick, I believe it hails from the first quarter of the 20 th century. The old repairs along the wing and the base appear to have been put in to stabilize cracks that had begun. But not travelled. The neck either had been a separate piece, or had sheared off at some point as it too, has the old pinned repairs. It does fit well when pushed in place but still wobbles, and will need reinforcement along the old pin shadows that have fallen out to make him fully secure again. I’ve left him as shown to show where the old pins had attached. Very, very cool form. Except for the neck needing to be stabilized better, remarkably there is ... moreno damage to the bill nor to the wing tips. Buyer pays exact shipping and insurance. Antique Pig Weathervane Lightning Rod Arrow Primitive Folk Art W/ Bullet Holes
This auction is for a old Pig Weathervane/Lightning Rod Directional Arrow that came from a Missouri estate. It measures 21 5/8" x 5 3/8" The metal pig which I think is zinc measures 9" x 5" The arrow is cast iron and is straight. The back part of the arrow that the pig stands on is designed with twisted metal. It appears that a piece that originally went to one of the back legs is broken. I have a close up of it in the pictures. As you can see this little piggy was used for target practice and has several bullet holes in his body. The legs. Ears, nose, and tail are intact and the pig is secure on the arrow. It is weathered from lots of years on the barn and the cast iron arrow has some rust. I am guessing this one dates back to the 1920-30's. Vintage Primitive Folk art Rooster Weathervane folkart
1 Vintage weathervane. I am selling this for a friend who is about 90 years old. He made this quite a few years ago. I thought he said the rooster and arrow was made with either copper or brass. The width across for the direction letters is about 19" and the letters are about 3 1/2" tall. The arrow measures about 22 1/2" across and about 4" tall. The Rooster measures about 8 1/4" tall and about 8" wide. The whole unit measures about 27 1/2" tall. It was painted black white and red. There is a paint crack etc one one side of the arrow. I will be taking this apart further to fit in the box. That is. The pipe fittings. Please keep in mind that this is used and was on his roof until about a year ago when it was taken off the roof. Fabulous Primitive Vintage Rooster Chicken Weathervane Original Finish
Fabulous Primitive Vintage Rooster Chicken Weathervane Original Finish I am still listing new items from Indiana. And have a boatload of new things from the flea market too. Lots of primitive antiques, farm finds, folk art, and the usual wacky Maureen stuff- you don’t want to miss this week! What's not to love about an old weathervane- don'tcha love the look of them? And this one has character to spare! It's an older vintage weathervane- made from spelter. I'm guessing as it's a grey metal that a magnet does not stick to- except for the base, which is brass, and has mounting holes on the sides for mounting. It's a rustic rooster, with a black painted finish that is accented with deep barn red for the details on his head. The center pole has a hand hammered look. It stands 24" tall to the top of the rooster, and ... morethe directionals are 15 1/2" apart end to end n/s, e/w. The base measures 2 1/8" square. The whole piece weighs 4 lbs. It does come apart, the directionals can be removed, as can the rooster as you can see from my photos, the top of the pole sticks out of his back, and you just lift him off. I will dis-assemble him for shipping in order to make the box smaller and hopefully save you some dabloons. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition, with rustic wear to the finish that can be see- lots of worn black paint esepcially on the rooster, where you can see down to the metal, as well as the highest relief spots on the directionals and poles- that's the charm about him, though- he's primitive, he's old, he's all original, he's yours! The top features a sperm whale measuring 25" by 7" The N/S/E/W spokes measure 18" across. And the pole stands 18 1/2" high. Altogether, the whale measures approx. 26" tall. I have tested the weathervane with WD-40, but it does not turn. The copper has a light green patina and verdigris which adds to the antique character and overall appeal of this piece. The weathervane is in good condition for its age. But the tail section is a little rusty on top from being out in the elements. It has natural green patina on the copper. It has old style fancy fret work tail feathers coped out with carving marks left unsanded(last photo shows the rough carving to round the feather ends) The eyes are carved out on both sides(Photo 4) Partially paint-obscured on one side. No dry rot, but paint is fairly shabby with some chipping, peeling, and lots of age soiling as in the photos. I tested it with a dowel in the mounting hole: rooster is properly balance and spins very freely. Photo 7 is the mounting hole. Worn but not rotted. Please note that this is the top only of a weather vane. No mounting accessories- I slipped it over a dowel for the first picture. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s American Folk Art Sheet Metal Cut Out Silhouette HORSE WEATHERVANE. It is Fresh off the Farm. Picked out of an old granary. It measures approx 31" long, approx 26" tall and is made of two cut out and riveted together pieces of sheet metal. The vane is fully guaranteed as being authentic. Dating from somewhere approx. 1900 give or take. It was purchased off of an old family farm here in Wisconsin, I've been trying to by it for over 20 years. Really Nicely Done. Unknown maker probably done by a local tinsmith back in the day. I think that its a fantastic looking item. Perfect for a wall décor or to have a stand made with a rod for proper display. I purchased this fantastic piece of Americana from a farm estate sale in Puxico. Missouri. The cow weathervane is made of single thickness galvanized steel. The cow had been painted the traditional BARN RED sometime back in history. The cow does have a bullet hole as can be seen in the photos and does have a couple of dents where it appears some bullets did not penetrate the steel. The cow appears to be homemade and most likely made in the farmer's shop. The LARGE folk art primitive cow weathervane measures 35 inches long from tip of the cow's tail to the tip of the arrow.and the center pole measures 17.5 inches tall. This exquisitely detailed small horse weather vane has all the attributes of the larger size. Only in smaller, tabletop size. Very heavy. I suspect it is copper as a magnetic strip does not stick to the horse, just the support stick and directionals. The horse– or essence of a horse headed south“ the only direction that matters this time of year! measures approximately 14.5” tall from table by approximately 11” from nose to tip of right hoof. I think the tail may have always been“bobbed” But I can’t say for sure. Letters and front hoof tip are missing, but still a very strong classic presentation. Great antique 19th century carved wood cod fish weathervane. This primitively carved piece has remnants of paint on the underside. There are carved lines to highlight the eyes. Fins and some scales. There may have been zinc fins and a tail attached to the vane at the seam. It probably came apart and it looks like round headed nails were used to put it back together, however, the age of the weathervane is greater than that. It was bought from a man in Fairhaven, MA. He told us that it came from a small church on Nantucket Island. This is all he knew about it. It measures 27 1/2" long, 5 1/2" tall, and 3 1/2" wide. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! You don't need a weathervane to take advantage of this primitive beauty- it would be just as happy. And look just as good hanging on your wall! What I have is a vintage weathervane arrow- it's made of a white metal that a magnet does not stick to, except the pole that comes down from the center- I do believe that it may be brass, as it certainly has the patina- see my photos and if you think so too. The arrow, on either end, has a hammered metal design, and the piece has ... morea very shabby, chippy black finish that is more worn that still on. It measures 31" long at the arrow, and 7 1/2" at the center- top to bottom of pole. The pole alone is 5" long and about 1/4" diameter. It weighs 1 lb, so it's light for its size. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition, in addition to the finish wear, it is dirty from living outdoors, and cobwebby from being in the barn for so long- it could use a good cleaning, I have not cleaned it in any way. Here's a wonderful older vintage cast metal weathervane in the image of a pancing horse! It's made from a metal that a magnet does not stick to- spelter. I'm guessing, as it appears to be silver in color. The pieces has a hammered metal look on the arrow. You can see lots of peeks of the metal as the old black finish is shabby, chippy and worn- especially on the horse, where you can see more metal than paint. This is the top to a weathervane- it would have attached ... moreonto a pole at one point in time, with a directional underneath- I do not have those, so what you see is what you get. That being said, as it is, it could made for some very cool wall art if mounted on a wall- the possibilities are limited to your imagination. Measuring 33" long, it is 15 3/4" tall from the bottom of the(pole insert) to the top of the horse's ears. The hole at the base where it would mount is 7/8" measuring on the inside walls, with an interior(pole) hole of about 3/8. It weighs 3 3/4 lbs. and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. Aside from the wear to the finish, no issues at all. It's reallyreallyreally barn fresh dirty and cob-webby and needs a good cleaning- I have not cleaned in any way. Another fabulous farm find! Antique Primitive Dog Weathervane Estate find from an antique collector in Pennsylvania. This is a great original folk art weather vane. No roosters or horses here, this is a unique cut heavy sheet metal dog standing on a primitive arrow. It has been painted a light gray color. I would probably remove the paint but will leave that you to the buyer. There is a small bracket on the bottom edge of the arrow that supports the 2.5" post that fits in the pole. For your consideration is a vintage weathervane/ lightning rod arrow that I recently came across at a local estate auction. It measures 13 inches in length. It looks quite old and it looks like it may have been buried at some point. For some reason the end opposite the point is not nearly as pitted as the rest of the piece. With a fan at one end and a prop at the other, the entire thing is made of wood with the exception of the fan, its made of tin. The workmanship on the prop is amazing. Entire length is 20-1/4 inches. Still has remnent of original paint on wood. Prop measures 8 inches across. In the center of the wood is the original nail that affixed this piece to the remainder of the body. Antique Folk Art Sheet Metal Weathervane Primitive Articulated DONKEY
This charming antique was found at an estate sale.of unknown age and origin. After some research this appears to be part of an old WEATHERVANE or perhaps possibly part of on old sign that hung in front of a shop. This is a wonderfully primitive DONKEY. His head and neck are fashioned separately and loosely bolted to the body- the holes at the base of the neck and at the mouth seem to indicate that once there were wires or string attached so that the head could be manipulated up and down- the head can still be manipulated with no trouble, and I suspect this could be re-wired. The donkey's body is made from two sheets of some sort of metal and then fixed together. See all photos to understand construction. Patina showing age and weathering. About 8" long. 7" tall.

Antique Weathervane Rooster Old Paint Vintage Country Primitive Original Paint?
Found at a rural Nebraska estate sale is this great old metal rooster from a weathervane. Still standing on a 15" section of the weathervane. The rooster is about 9" tall and a bit over 7" wide. He still retains remnants of old paint which may quite possibly be original. There is some rust but no holes eaten through. Visible from the bottom is some separation indicating the rooster was formed from two separate sides and joined together. He is very sturdy and has a wonderful country primitive look. Primitive Rustic Vintage Used Carpenter Saw Weathervane Gorgeous! So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! Oh. This one soooo had me at hello. It's a fabulous vintage weathervane, well loved and used. The dealer's husband was a carpenter, so this was actually one of his items at the sale, but I took one look, and knew I had to have it. It actually appears to be made of different metals- the balls and finial are copper- the top bar of the saw sticks to a magnet, so I think it may be the same iron as the ... morecenter pole(this is not a real saw- the handle is metal too) and the directionals- I think they are aluminum- they do not stick to a magnet, but they have the feel of aluminum. The saw I was totally unsure of, so I scratched a teenie spot and I saw silver, so it's not copper- like I said, a mix, but it all works. The green patina appears to be a finish- but I'm telling you, it really looks like weathered copper, for sure. The weathervane measures 41 3/4" tall as you see it set up in my photos, the saw is 27" wide by 7 1/8" tall and the directionals are 17 3/4" across end of one to the end of the other. All are part of one central iron pole- as you can see, the pole is open at the bottom, so you will need to provide your own hardware for mouning- what you see is what you get, and I'm showing how it will come- disassembled, in photo 23(in order to cut down on the shipping cost) It's heavy, weighing 7 1/2 lbs and it's in excellent solid and sturdy condition. There's surface rust on the iron that has also gotten onto some of the other metal pieces- with the green of the patina, it all just looks fabulous. It's been-used dirty and could

19th c. Antique Folk Art Rooster Weathervane Americana AAFA Sheet Iron Primitive
What a great find we have at auction today. Superb folk art rooster form weathervane. He was cut out from sheet iron. He stands 24" high and is 25 1/2" wide. He body is supported with body straps on both sides which are riveted onto his form. He swivels on vertical rod which is attached to his base. He has a small pointing arrow which is riveted to him from the backside. To add to his charm is the hand forged base which is cut from heavier steel and is also riveted together. He patina is an old wrought iron black paint/finish. He probably has been scraped and repainted at some point. He spent many years in the weather but somebody took good care of him! This is one of the better antique folk art pieces we have brought to auction. We love and collect folk art ourselves. He is a fabulous piece. Antique Horse Weathervane Folk Art Piece Brass Derby Large Metal Primitive Colt
This auction is for an antique horse weathervane top. Shows wear. Age and dents.but definitely gives it a lot of character.see pictures. It measures about 30 3/4 inches long from end of poles and 16 inches high from top of horse to bottom of pole. This piece is missing the N. S, E, W directionals, pole and round ball. Would make for a great display piece in the house. On a barn, in the yard, etc.
