Neat Old and Original Circus Horse Weathervane and Blue Milk Glass Quilt Lightning Rod Ball. Weathervane is called a Circus Horse vane because it has a belly band around the horse's middle. Weathervane is hollow bodied and made in the 1915-20's. The horse is tim metal and the front arrow is old cast iron. Weathervane measures 33 inches long. Horse measures 14 inches long.10 inches tall and about 1 1/8 inches thick. This weathervane style was very popular way back then for the roofs of Barns and old Victorian Homes. Horse was large enough to be easily seen from some distance. This one fit over a 5/8 common lightning rod-the most common rod. The blue milk glass"quilt" ball measures 5 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. It will fit over the common rod or the more fancy twisted star rod. Both items look great together. MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane/ Lightning rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass Horse measures approx. 31" x 17" and the whole piece measures approx. 33" long x 20" tall. It is being sold as found. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. View all of the photos and use zoom and enlarge. There are two small scratches on one side(see the last two photos) I wipes the item with a soft cloth and water to get off the dust. Dirt and grass.other then that, it is how I found it.

Antique Robbins Weathervane Maryville Mo. Lightning Rod Horse Stallion Folk Art
Up For Auction! This is a rare Robbins Weathervane/ Lightning Rod with a Horse figurine. The weather vane measures approximately 25" tall. It has a figure of a horse on the top and is made of a sand like material or plaster. It is very light weight figure. But does appear to made of something other than plastic. Possibly bakelite, paper mache or sandstone. The horse has three of the feet broken off. One of them comes with the vane. It appears that someone has tried to repair it with some super glue. The exterior of the horse feels gritty like sand and it looks like it was made in a mold. The directional arrow and N. W, S& E(North, South, East& West) arms are made of a light weight aluminum. There is a plastic cylinder that is in the middle of the weather vane. It has two small hairline cracks at the bottom where the screw attach ... morethe plastic part to the main rod. There are very small and unnoticeable. The main rod has threads at the bottom to screw into something or attach it to something using a nut. The diameter of the main rod and threads is approximately 1/2" in diameter. The tail of the direction arrow has a maker's name. It was made by Robbins. Maryville Missouri This was purchased at an estate sale in North Dakota and undoubtedly came of the family's barn or shed. I have no doubt it would make a great ornament. This weathervane is fairly complete and in nice condition outside of the feet being broken. This is a great vintage piece of folk art. Antique Small Hollow Body Horse Figure Lightning Rod Weathervane REAL NICE PART
Here we have for sale a very nice horse for a lightning rod weathervane. This is the small trotting horse. It is made of tin and is soldered together in two halves. This was covered in layers upon layers of paint. I stripped it and it turned out great. All seams are tight. No dents or bullet holes. Has a nice rusty surface but not badly pitted or rusted thru. The wires are very solid and it's ready to remount. This is a very nice condition small pony, no junk here. I put a quite a bit of time in cleaning this up to make it useable!

Antique UNUSUAL Tin Hollow Body Lightning Rod Horse Weathervane
Here we have for sale an unusual looking tin hollow body two piece horse weathervane. Not sure about the origins of this one. A guy had several lightning rods that came out of Illinois and this was part of his collection. The arrow is 20-3/4" long and made if cast iron. The horse is 8-1/4" long and 5-1/2" tall. It is made of two pieces of tin. It is swelled just like all other hollow body lightning rod animal vanes. It has detail as well. It is soldered together in spots but looks like it never was totally soldered all the way around. It has been painted black some years ago and has seen"use" in the air. It kinda reminds me of a Moore Bro. style horse that mounts on it's two middle legs. No damage or repairs. It's needs to be stripped of the paint to make it look real good. As a side note. Let me add this. ... moreI have not seen this style horse before which don't really mean anything because I haven't seen it all anyways. The arrow shaft doesn't appear to have ever had anything else mounted on it before. No extra holes or solder spots. The shaft is unquestionable as to being original to the front. Very sharp Old and Original Standing Horse Weathervane and Green Grape Lightning Rod Ball. Very old horse weathervane is on a twisted wire arrow which proves it's old age. This nice old horse is hollow bodied and made of zinc. Very hard to locate these fine vintage Standing Horse horse vanes. Horse itself measures 11 inches long and 9 inches tall. Complete Horse and arrow vane measures 22 inches long. Great addition for an old weathervane collection. Unique and unusual horse has several small bullet holes. Most likely made by the farm kid's pellet gun. A third pellet hit the tail and left a dent. Horse is hollow bodied and is about 1/2 inch thick. Long ago the vane was painted green,probably because the roof was either green or black. Lightning rod ball is an excellent, old and original, hard to find Green Grape Ball. It is GREEN ... moremilk glass. Rod is also a nice old patina fellow with a twisted brace. Sharp looking old weathervane for the roof, wall or in the garden as many folks now like to decorate. Here we have for sale an antique hard to find 1890's brass hollow body two piece horse weathervane. The arrow is 24" long and made if cast iron. It has a twisted wire back which tells you it's an early piece. The horse is 11" long and 6" tall. It is made of two pieces of brass. Horse has a fair amount of the gold gilding still on it. There is some bullet damage that has been repaired with solder years ago. This vane didn't see a long life outdoors by the looks of it. It is an authentic antique piece that's for sure. This style running horse does not turn up often these days. What you see is what you get.

Previous owner said it was off a lightning rod but I find that hard to believe as the pass-through mounting hole is a bit small. Neat Old & Original Vintage Horse Weathervane with Lightning Rod & Ball Set up
Nice Vintage hollow bodied tin horse weathervane. Neat old horse vane is on the much desired triple heart front. Horse a measures 9 inches long. 7 1/2 inches tall and 1 inch thick. Whole weathervane is 21 1/2 inches long. Notice the triple heart front has some old paint on it. The lightning rod ball is a round 4 1/2 inch,pretty cobalt blue one. it too is very old and from the 1920's. The old lightning rod is a 5/8 inch copper fellow with nice patina and cast iron brace. Rod is 36 inches tall and even has the cable clamp adapter on the bottom. This is a sharp, very old weathervane set up. worthy of any nice lightning rod collection or single use and display. Here we have for sale a real nice looking lightning rod weathervane The horse is made of two stamped pieces of embossed tin. Soldered together giving it a 3-d look. No dents, bullet holes, or repairs. Has a wonderful weathered patina. The shaft the horse is mounted on is made of cast iron and brass and measures 27-1/2" long. This consists of a cast iron front and a brass mounting tube. As you can see, theres some white paint. Big heavy iron front on this one. Nice old horse vane and it isn't a rust bucket!

1880-1890 HIGHLY DETAILED Cast Iron Horse Head Lightning Rod Weathervane
You are bidding on this OLD 1880-1890's ALL Original HEAVY Cast Iron Running Horse Head From an Early Copper Horse Weathervane.Meas. approx. 7"H X 8"L.This was found in Southwestern.PA recently.Shows a HIGHLY detailed HEAVY two piece horse head with open mouth and ears back.This was a two piece head that was soldiered together originally.The heavy copper sheeting is still present in the neck area.Overall condition very good.Expected HEAVY pitting and rust from many years of roof top service.Copper neck area is well creased/bent with split seams, one small hole, and small split(see photo) but incredibly STRONG!This was found painted white.The paint had to be removed and as you can see the restoration got a little aggressive showing some shined copper on neck area and especially in mane area.This can be easily repatinated if you ... morewish.Zinc mane no longer present.No sure of maker but most likely one of the five well known:L.W.
