Antique Copper Folk Art Rooster Weathervane I really like this folky rooster vane. It may very well be Canadian. Having both a crown, an orb and a cross, probably east coast. It is artfully cut from sheet copper and is at least 19th century, though the rooster is similar to 18th century ones. I believe it was once brightly painted with red and white, but only small vestiges remain. Height 34 1/8( 86.7 cm) WEIGHT 2 pounds 14 ounces I sell most of my items on eBay with a reasonable reserve. In this auction we have another nice weathervane. It is a vintage Copper Rooster Weathervane with the wind directional arrow and the east. West, north and south markers. The arrow is 23-1/2" inches long and the rooster itself is 19 inches tall x 16 inches wide. It measures 31-1/2" from the top of the roosters comb to the bottom of the lower ball. There are hacksaw cuts where the two brass rods intersect, It looks like someone was trying to remove it and didn't know what they were doing. Antique Weathervane Rooster RARE Brass / Bronze Or Copper ? Hand Hammerd HELP ??
Here we have a estate find very old antique Weathervane rooster. Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age you collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell ... moreme any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Vintage Rooster Aluminum Weathervane Copper Base Brass Rod Rooftop Barn 38" Tall
You are bidding on a vintage rooster weathervane. It is approximately 60 years old or slightly older. It was attached on the top of a roof and was taken down and stored when the new owner of the property rebuilt there. It comes apart and if you look at the pictures you can see how it goes together. The base is made of copper with is painted black. The copper is placed over a wood base. The paint has flaked in several places. The base measures approximately 17 inches on each of the 4 sides. The rod that holds the weathervane looks like it is made of brass but I'm not sure. The directional N-S-E-W sits on this rod and there are large screws that tighten it onto the rod. The S mark was repaired at one time as you can see from the picture. The rooster and arrow sit on top of the directional N-S-E-W and will spin freely on the rod. I believe ... morethe rooster. Arrow and directions are all made of aluminum. This piece looks to have been painted a black with red markings. I am leaving it the way it was found and you may choose to repaint it to your liking. I do not see any type of markings on this piece as to who the manufacturer may have been. The whole weathervane assembled measures 38 inches tall. From the bottom of the directional N-S-E-W to the top of the rooster it measures 20 inches tall. The distance across from the front of the arrow to the back measures 24 inches long. Up for consideration is this nice. Original, Hollow Body Copper Rooster weathervane. It's all there including the wood base. At 33" overall with 12" directionals and a rooster that stands 10" and 8" wide It is a diminutive size. It came from an historic Eastern Shore of Maryland smoke house, thus the smaller size. Seam separations on the body and tail. Directionals are in nice shape. Note the hollow two piece tail. You can use the original nail holes to mount to a stand or put it on the wall. Nice old weather-vane from kitchen rafters in New Hampshire home. One side has old orange paint while the other is naturally aged copper. Verdigris has grown thick in parts. It measures 12 1/2" from feet to top of head feathers. 16" from base attachment to top of head feathers. 13" across from arrow tip to end. Tail feathers are 7 3/4" in height. Both sides are textured with design. Copper side seem more flat than painted side. There are 2 old screws(were not mounted in home by them) still embedded and 1 hole in the eye. Great patina! Antique N.H. 16" Copper Rooster Weathervane Rustic Kitchen 1 side Painted Orange
From kitchen in my home state of NH. Old weather vane. One side has old orange paint while the other is naturally aged copper. Verdigris has grown thick in parts. It measures 12 1/2" from feet to top of head feathers. 16" from base attachment to top of head feathers. 13" across from arrow tip to end. Tail feathers are 7 3/4" in height. Both sides are textured with design. Copper side seem more flat than painted side would be nice fit against a wall. There are 2 old screws(were not mounted in home by them) still embedded and 1 screw? hole in the eye. Great patina! Please examine pictures as they give the best description. I pack safely. You are bidding on a fantastic Early 20th C. Folk Art Copper Rooster Weathervane And Cupola. The piece was just taken off a barn in Ohio which was put up in 1910. This cupola and vane were put on the garage around 1913. The piece measures 55" tall, 21" wide and 21" deep. The cupola top is all copper including the nails. The babe I believe is copper because of the color. It will be shipped in 2 pieces the vane will be seperate from the cupola. Happy bidding!
