As well as a piece that sits in the bottom drawer(see pictured photo) There is also a piece thats used to secure the hangers farther back that is pictured. The hinges are all working however need to be cleaned. The locks appear in very good condition. No keys. These trunks were the very best. Right at the top with Louis Vuitton, Goyard, M. M. Secor, etc. This trunk was one of Hartmann's top models of the time, costing close to $200.that's over $2500 in today's market. Only a well-to-do gentleman or lady would have owned something this expensive and of this quality. This particular trunk is a cushion-top model, and is also gibraltarized, patentened process in order to make the trunk frame very strong. This is all steel-frame construction. The trunk features a velvet cushioned top to protect clothing during travel. All original"unbreakable hangers" a garment bag for clothing worn, all hand riveted, and featered a patented locking mechanism that actually hooks so your trunk would never open in travel. From the hangers to the cloth lining, and cloth ties, this was made for an entire wardrobe to moved about without putting a wrinkle in any of your items. Today you can go anywhere in the entire world within 24 hours by plane. Just think way back when before commercial airlines. People traveled primarily by railroad or by ship. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. The top(picture 6) shows the rip in the fabric. Has two tags on it. First is the Hartman Trunk co, Racine, WI. The other is on the corner and says Wasseman's, Grand Rapids, MI. That means this trunk went from the United States to Germany, then to Scotland and back to the United States. Measures 40" tall, 22" wide and 21 1/2" deep. Shipping is quoted with UPS. For Auction: Antique 1930s Henry Likly Full Size Steamer Wardrobe Trunk. It is an unusual design. Half of the front door opens. And a leg pops open to hold it up. When you close it, the leg closes up. The leg appears that it needs a little maintenance as it needs a helping hand to close it up. It is difficult to close the trunk completely. It can be closed. But you have to fight it a little. There is no key. The lock does not lock. It appears that it may be missing the top to the drawer section. But I am not sure. The base is 22" by 23" by about 40" tall. Here is what an expert told me about the trunk: Manufacturer: Henry Likly. The Henry Likly Trunk Company was established in 1844 as A.R. T.H. Pritchard. Upon graduating from school Henry Likly took an apprenticeship with A.R& T.H.Pritchard and mastered his trade in the ... moretrunk manufacturing industry.In January of 1868 Mr. Likly was given a partnership in the company. The company then became A.R. T.H. Pritchard& Company. Three years later it became A.R. Pritchard& Likly.When Henry Likly and his brother in-law became the sole proprietors of the business the name was changed to Henry Likly& Company. This was the name from 1870 when A.R. Pritchard retired until 1925 when it simply became"Likly's"As far as I can tell the company was ran by his children after his death in 1897. In New York State the Henry Likly trunk company was the largest factory of its time. Located at 340 Lyell Ave in Rochester N.Y. the factory covered two acres of land. The building was 4 stories tall and utilized 60,000 square feet of space. During this period it was one of the best equipped manufacturing plants in the United States. DONNELLY ANTIQUES this hard to find dresser trunk does not have a makers name but it is still in nice condition. there are 3 drawers. 2 large and 1 small. and a compartment above them that long long has its cover that would have been held down by the to snaps on the leather straps. it has normal wear for a item of this vintage, solid shiny black bottom no rust with for caster wheels.the drawers are complete solid bottoms, lining is intact. all of the extertior locks work as designed snapping the trunk tight. the lock is broken but should be easy to replace. the trunk is 34" wide, 22" deep, 27" tall when closed.

My family came from England in the late 1800's but the history of US Trunk Co.I believe dates this to be the early 1900's. It's green wood with metal corners and does need some work but appears to be all original as is. There is no key. The dimensions are 30"L x 17"W x 13"D. Straps are in very good shape and each are pictured. Noting"109 30" on each. Initials FG on front of trunk. Masking tape residue on outside and interior has newspaper stuck on but probably will clean up easily. Could be cleaned. Repaired and restored to make a very nice end table or coffee table. Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Sarasota was for many years the winter home of Ringling Brothers ... moreCircus and Barnum and Bailey Circus and now has an excellent Circus Museum and the Ringling Art Museum(formerly the Ringling residence) The man I bought the trunk from said it had belonged to a circus performer. I left it as I found it, so it may clean up better than this, or it may not. this has age, and it is shows it and usage. I had trouble getting it to latch close, the right latch doesn't quite snap in place, and the center" No Key" also does not quite line up, and there is tape on the bottom of the drawers, I did remove some of this tape with no issues, I suppose it is there for support or to keep them intact, not quite sure. the main chest itself is metal, the inside is a some type of hardboard for the drawers, hopefully you have an idea to that! Antique/Vintage wardrobe Steamer Travel Trunk locks with keys
Vintage/Antique wardrobe steamer trunk dark green exterior blue interior. Exterior- Scuffs and scratches visible are typical of its use over the years. Some light rust noted to brass parts visible in photos. No structural damage as far as dents or holes. Aligns properly closes tight and locks. The two original keys are included fits exterior lock and interior drawer lock. There appears to have been a large label of some sort removed from the top of the trunk(top meaning trunk standing in position to open) This has left behind a dull spot on the finish. Leather handle is in place but has deteriorated and is broken. The broken portion is under the metal clamp and is not visible. The brake in the leather is hidden leaving the handle the ability to serve esthetical purposes. Interior- left side- Top lifts up. Curtain folds back to three wooden ... morehangers on an extendable rack. Midway an adjustable bar is designed to hold hanging clothes in place while trunk is in transit. Located at the bottom is a vinyl flap with three snaps. It attaches in the back and snaps in in the front, great for shoe storage. Right side- Four pull out drawers. The drawers operate properly alight we'll and have no structural damage. On the outside portion of some of the lowers drawers some of the finish is pealing. This is not visible unless you remove the drawer and turn it around to inspect the portion that faces the inside of the cabinet. The interior of the drawers(where clothes touch drawer) is intact. The top drawer has an operational lock. Original key included. A metal bar is attached to the trunk behind the drawers. It runs vertical the length of the drawers. I believe it's purpose is to lock the other drawers when the top drawer is locked. I am not sure how it works to determine if it is functional. Questions please message me. Thanks for looking. Steamer trunks(named after their location of storage in the cabin of a steam ship. Or"steamer" which are sometimes referred to as flat-tops, first appeared in the late 1870s, although the greater bulk of them date from the 1880-1920 period. They are distinguished by either their flat or slightly-curved tops and were usually covered in canvas, leather or patterned paper and about 14 inches tall to accommodate steamship luggage regulations. There has been much debate and discourse on what these types of trunks are actually called. In some old catalogs, these trunks were called"packers" and the"steamer" trunk actually referred to a trunk that is often called a cabin trunk. An orthodox name for this type of trunk would be a"packer" trunk, but since it has been widely called a steamer for so long, it is ... morenow a hallmark of this style. There is a sticker on the top of the trunk that indicates that this trunk traveled on the Grace Line SS Cecilia sailing to New York. The Santa Cecilia was built in 1913 by William Cramp and Sons. Excellent condition 1910-20's era steamer/wardrobe trunk. 23"x30.5x40.5" The brown"gibralterized" leather patina and wear is exquisite- like one of those sought after antique club chairs. It would make a beautiful side table closed and just as nice useable wardrobe for a tight space. These are rarely in such pristine condition. Interior is clean and practically unused. 5 drawers with leather pulls. 12 wooden hangers- 2 types- several different sizes. The lock was popped but the engaging mechanism works perfectly. All the pieces for the original lock are included. Burgundy velour fabric on the top cushion and hanging clothes holdback are is perfect shape.
