Most of these doubloon-coins are( 1 1/2 inch or dollar size) and are made in different type medals, such as aluminum, bronze, antique bronze, oxidize, heavy multi colors, dual colors, and some in.999 silver. The aluminums come in different colors, silver aluminum, gold, green, purple, red, blue etc. Some of the aluminum doubloons are thrown from Mardi Gras floats during their annual parade during the Mardi Gras season in the New Orleans area. Others are made to give to special friends at the parade or during their annual ball as a favor. These doubloon-coins are becoming very scarce and hard to find, as they are in demand by collectors all over the world. Enormous chest. Oak, heavy dark original patina, hand forged hardware, evidence of worm holes and early wood bore, none existing now) with thick solid planks of oak used in construction. Chest measures 77x281/2 x40 inches and weighs upwards of 400 pounds. Provenance: A European castle, possibly Germany. This piece came to the U.S. in the 1950's with Colonel William Shlitz, USA, and we have purchased from estate. Non smoking estate but there is evidence of purple paint to be removed on one edge(per the estate, the work of a small child) Most wood is upwards of 1 1/2 inches thick. Decorated Antique US Military Footlocker Sea Chest or Box w/ Original Finish
Hardwood storage box decorated with the owner's name. DUKE MIEDEMA, and many calligraphy symbols. Possibly a footlocker from the US military. A search of local records yielded the following information about the owner. He was born in 1884 and passed away in 1965. He was buried in the historic Crown Hill Cemetery of Indianapolis, IN. The paint his name is written in has acquired a nice alligatored finish. I have no idea what the symbols say, but would love to know if anyone does. Wood does have some paint slop in areas and a few holes drilled in the front, see images 2 and 6. Inside has some sort of block shaped holder mounted to the front of the interior, see mages 7 and 8. This beautiful antique camphor sea chest belonged to my grandmother. It has been in my family for a very long time and is being sold due to lack of appreciation unfortunately. According to my grandmother it was owned by captain Bearse. One of the many, but more well know, sea captains from Chatham, MA. There is no way to prove this but it is period appropriate and antique appraisers agree it is an early chinese style camphor sea chest. The smell of camphor when you open the chest is incredible. There is one brass fitting missing on the bottom right, and a repair was done by my grandfather(a woodworker) in the 1940's to repair a seperating split in the left upper corner of the lid. Rare antique(1750s-1820s) sea chest in its original condition not many have survived and tend to be one offs. Rope handles, candle box with hinged lid and deep secret compartment and brass escutcheon, animal/whale bone diamond inlays to lid top(the three central ones have been replaced recently with cow bone and are a perfect match) Weight is heavy 32kg approx. being constructed in mahogany(could be teak not quite sure as this is dense and heavy) with dovetailed corners. Original rope handles, iron hinges, brass escutcheon and bone inlays. Very good patina, recently lightly cleaned and wax polished so all ready for the home no woodworm or rot some evidence of old nails to the inner rim top where fabric had been fitted. Beautiful Antique c1890's Wooden Sea Chest/ Chart& Map Chest/ Tool Chest Large 39" L x 21" W x 15" H Made from solid either southern yellow pine or fir.the chest has been in my family for years.purchased off of a large boat here in Florida. Handmade chest dates back to the boom days of this important Florida seaport. The bottom is made from 3 1/4" wide beadboard from the construction of the Victorian houses in town. The top is a solid 19 1/2" wide plank(that split at one time and was repaired) and the sides are from solid 13 1/2" boards. The chest is still very solid.all joints are tight and the lid opens and closes easily and fits tightly. The detailed images will give you a great idea on the color and condition of this beauty. This Auction is for an Antique 19th Century Primitive Original Green Paint Hand Dovetailed Square Nailed Trunk Seaman's Sea Chest. It measures approximately 21" tall by 58 1/2" wide by 19 1/2" deep- it is is in solid structural condition with a solid bottom with only a small area in one corner that has partial bug damage- part of the front trim on the lid on the left side is missing- the left wrought iron hinge broke and was replaced with another hinge a long time ago but its nice its still all there- it will be shipped by Greyhound to the closet Bus Station to your location and will have to be picked up there- shipping will be no more than a $100.00- Freight Shipping is available but twice as expensive- it can also be picked up at my Largo. DESCRIPTION This sale is for a used ceramic mold made by Duncan(101) It makes a crab. Seahorse, coral, lobster, mermaid, 4 seashells, treasure chest and an anchor. The pieces made from the mold range from ¾” 2 ¾” long. The mold is in excellent condition. Made of pine it is dovetailed and wood pegged constructed with hand wrought metal banding and hinge. Hinged lid has lock. But I do not have the key. Rope handles on each end. Very good condition for it's age. Condition: There is 2 areas were metal banding is missing as pictured. There is a piece missing at outer edge bottom board( pictured) so the bottom boards are a little loose but held in place by the metal banding. Boards could be fastened with small nails to be more secure but will leave that up to the winning bidder Measures 30" long by 14" wide and 10" deep.
