For Auction: Antique 1930s Henry Likly Full Size Steamer Wardrobe Trunk. It is an unusual design. Half of the front door opens. And a leg pops open to hold it up. When you close it, the leg closes up. The leg appears that it needs a little maintenance as it needs a helping hand to close it up. It is difficult to close the trunk completely. It can be closed. But you have to fight it a little. There is no key. The lock does not lock. It appears that it may be missing the top to the drawer section. But I am not sure. The base is 22" by 23" by about 40" tall. Here is what an expert told me about the trunk: Manufacturer: Henry Likly. The Henry Likly Trunk Company was established in 1844 as A.R. T.H. Pritchard. Upon graduating from school Henry Likly took an apprenticeship with A.R& T.H.Pritchard and mastered his trade in the ... moretrunk manufacturing industry.In January of 1868 Mr. Likly was given a partnership in the company. The company then became A.R. T.H. Pritchard& Company. Three years later it became A.R. Pritchard& Likly.When Henry Likly and his brother in-law became the sole proprietors of the business the name was changed to Henry Likly& Company. This was the name from 1870 when A.R. Pritchard retired until 1925 when it simply became"Likly's"As far as I can tell the company was ran by his children after his death in 1897. In New York State the Henry Likly trunk company was the largest factory of its time. Located at 340 Lyell Ave in Rochester N.Y. the factory covered two acres of land. The building was 4 stories tall and utilized 60,000 square feet of space. During this period it was one of the best equipped manufacturing plants in the United States. DONNELLY ANTIQUES this hard to find dresser trunk does not have a makers name but it is still in nice condition. there are 3 drawers. 2 large and 1 small. and a compartment above them that long long has its cover that would have been held down by the to snaps on the leather straps. it has normal wear for a item of this vintage, solid shiny black bottom no rust with for caster wheels.the drawers are complete solid bottoms, lining is intact. all of the extertior locks work as designed snapping the trunk tight. the lock is broken but should be easy to replace. the trunk is 34" wide, 22" deep, 27" tall when closed.

Locks and handles are still in place including the inner mechanisms and hangers as well as hinged drawers. My family came from England in the late 1800's but the history of US Trunk Co.I believe dates this to be the early 1900's. It's green wood with metal corners and does need some work but appears to be all original as is. There is no key. The dimensions are 30"L x 17"W x 13"D. Straps are in very good shape and each are pictured. Noting"109 30" on each. Initials FG on front of trunk. Masking tape residue on outside and interior has newspaper stuck on but probably will clean up easily. Could be cleaned. Repaired and restored to make a very nice end table or coffee table. Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Sarasota was for many years the winter home of Ringling Brothers ... moreCircus and Barnum and Bailey Circus and now has an excellent Circus Museum and the Ringling Art Museum(formerly the Ringling residence) The man I bought the trunk from said it had belonged to a circus performer. Antique/Vintage wardrobe Steamer Travel Trunk locks with keys
Vintage/Antique wardrobe steamer trunk dark green exterior blue interior. Exterior- Scuffs and scratches visible are typical of its use over the years. Some light rust noted to brass parts visible in photos. No structural damage as far as dents or holes. Aligns properly closes tight and locks. The two original keys are included fits exterior lock and interior drawer lock. There appears to have been a large label of some sort removed from the top of the trunk(top meaning trunk standing in position to open) This has left behind a dull spot on the finish. Leather handle is in place but has deteriorated and is broken. The broken portion is under the metal clamp and is not visible. The brake in the leather is hidden leaving the handle the ability to serve esthetical purposes. Interior- left side- Top lifts up. Curtain folds back to three wooden ... morehangers on an extendable rack. Midway an adjustable bar is designed to hold hanging clothes in place while trunk is in transit. Located at the bottom is a vinyl flap with three snaps. It attaches in the back and snaps in in the front, great for shoe storage. Right side- Four pull out drawers. The drawers operate properly alight we'll and have no structural damage. On the outside portion of some of the lowers drawers some of the finish is pealing. This is not visible unless you remove the drawer and turn it around to inspect the portion that faces the inside of the cabinet. The interior of the drawers(where clothes touch drawer) is intact. The top drawer has an operational lock. Original key included. A metal bar is attached to the trunk behind the drawers. It runs vertical the length of the drawers. I believe it's purpose is to lock the other drawers when the top drawer is locked. I am not sure how it works to determine if it is functional. Questions please message me. Thanks for looking. Early Multnomah 1900's Portland Oregon massive antique wardrobe trunk
Wow. I have never come across a wardrobe trunk as large as this one! It instantly reminded me of the high society travelers of the historical Titanic cruise ship. It is just magnificent! The identifier tag reads Multnomah'Baggageman Proof' Portland Oregon. This is an actual wardrobe trunk and is made to stand upright. The bottom is flat with no handle and the top has a bow to it. It certainly can be laid on its side to create a beautiful accent table to your décor. In this position it measures 41" long, 23.5" high and 22" deep. There are so many design ideas that this could be utilize as. Just picture a sheet of glass placed on top, then a grouping of family photos intertwined with an English ivy on top of that. The inside holds a column of drawers on the right side. One of the drawers has a hidden panel on the ... moreback side. A secret place for holding paper money while traveling. The right side is for hanging clothes on wooden hangers and I believe the bottom chest is for shoes. In front of the hangers there is a bag for storing soiled clothes. In this position here is another design idea, open fully and place a large piece of stained wood across the top. Or"steamer" which are sometimes referred to as flat-tops, first appeared in the late 1870s, although the greater bulk of them date from the 1880-1920 period. Large Antique Hartman Wardrobe Steamer Trunk- Beautiful Leather Patina!
Excellent condition 1910-20's era steamer/wardrobe trunk. 23"x30.5x40.5" The brown"gibralterized" leather patina and wear is exquisite- like one of those sought after antique club chairs. It would make a beautiful side table closed and just as nice useable wardrobe for a tight space. These are rarely in such pristine condition. Interior is clean and practically unused. 5 drawers with leather pulls. 12 wooden hangers- 2 types- several different sizes. The lock was popped but the engaging mechanism works perfectly. All the pieces for the original lock are included. Burgundy velour fabric on the top cushion and hanging clothes holdback are is perfect shape.
