XL Vintage Reticulated Hand Painted Floral & Black tole tray- PRICE REDUCED!
There is no date on this tray however I would guess it would be somewhere from the mid 1940's to the 1960's. The tray is fairly heavy(almost 4 pounds) for its size(which is 24"x17.5"x1.25" and it was done by an expert painter. You can see the brushstrokes and the paint is applied liberally.There is a little wear as you would expect in a piece of this age. And I've tried to show it in the photos. The worst thing, in my opinion, are small pops of paint in the area of the floral design on the front. One photo shows this. The spots are small and not glaring, but they are there and you can see them clearly in the photo I think. The black has wear and some places where there is heavy wear,especially on the back and the reticulated area. I think this tray was used as a table for most of its life before it came to me(where ... moreit hung on the wall and made quite a statement! and I say that because you can clearly see wear on the back where there were 4 legs in contact with the tray. I have shown the worst one in a close up but as you can see there is no rust in this area. As to rust, there are a few areas in corners, or seams, or the reticulated area where the finish is a bit"rough" and which may be rust either starting, or perhaps just the finish getting loose, but there is no flaking or actively loose areas. I am trying to describe this as well as I can because it's hard to really get great photos of a black tray without flash bounce so, while none of these areas bothered me in the least, I want you to know that they are there. Overall it is a lovely old tray and I think with a coat of wax, the more worn areas would become even less obvious. But, I want to leave that up to the new owner. This tray looks fabulous on the wall, but it is heavy enough to be used as a table, too, as it was in the past. I took lots of photos so you can see the whole tray and decide for yourself. Pretty vintage metal toleware table lamp. THis one is maroon with gold laural leaves and trim. It is a smaller one. Perfect as a bedside lamp. The top of the clip on shade has a reticulated galley. Base has the same laurel leaf banding as the shade. The stem, in maroon, is a fluted column topped by a flared gold capital. Banded at the base and stem and the base and galley of the shade. Interior of shade is white for reflective quality. The lamp works, as pictured, but the wiring and electrical components, though visually in good shape, are old. Two one/off switches, one on the base, and one at the light bulb socket. The interior of the shade is a bit dirty. Tiny dent to the galley. Overall very good condition with wear consistent with age. Stands 12" to top of shade, base is 4 3/4" in diameter. Shade is 4 1/2" tall x 7 1/4" ... morein diameter at the bottom and 2 3/4" in diameter at the top. Add this little gem to your collection. Offered is an authentic vintage metal toleware hand painted serving tray or butler's tray. It is large. Measuring approx. 24-1/2" x 12-1/2" I purchased this at a Boston estate sale and was told it was given to the mother of the owner in 1948 as a wedding gift. The edges are reticulated with holes as handles at either end. It is in typical vintage condition: scuffing. Scratches, paint loss, and one small dent(see the last three photos) It weighs approx. 2 lb, 11 oz. The center features an arrangement of flowers including roses. I would call this tray"shabby chic" due to its condition. I only dusted it and would not attempt to clean it since I don't want to disturb the vintage patina. Due to the large box it will require. Huge Antique Tole Tray ROSES Hand Painted London High Reticulated Floral Gallery
Offered for sale is a really special hand painted early tole tray with a very deep floral reticulated gallery. I've never seen one quite like this. On the back is written in gold"Hand Painted for Groyer& Hughes London" I haven't been able to locate information on this establishment. The tray measures 22" long by 17 3/4" wide. The gallery is 2 1/2" deep ans has two rows of intertwined leaves. There is a handle on each end. The center of the tray is painted with luscious antique style roses and leaves. There are no scratches in the center and there is no wear to the paint. There is crazing to the painted flowers and leaves which is to be expected with age. The only visible wear is on the top edge of the gallery. I think this is quite beautiful and will be a great addition to any collection.

This vintage tray is truly lovely and in a RARE color It has a elegant red. Violet and yellow floral motif and the brush strokes are so pretty. The reticulated edge is more'bronze' than gold since it is older, but you will not be disappointed. The floral design is quite unique and the brush strokes really create texture to the design. It is all hand painted and in slightly chippy condition. The finish is by no means'glossy' this has some patina to it. To me these minimal marks add character and of course. Show its age. Everyone has a few wrinkles. It is really a very nice piece and you will not be disappointed. I had mine hanging with a fine wire through the edge in a huge collection that I can no longer use in my new home.
