Early porcelain / ceramic and brass Hubbell toggle switch
Vintage Hubbell toggle switch. Side of brass is marked: 8A 250V 5A 125V Hubbell" also on the other side" und. lab. insp. Underside is marked"Made in U.S.A. but I can't make out the rest. I have 2 in the same very good condition but listing and price is for one. I don't really know how these old switches work but it appears to all be there. Interior has a discolored sort of rust spot where the wires come in. But it's on both so I think it was made that way. The little cutouts where the wires come through the porcelain sides have some small chips in them, not awful just not perfect. If you've got a minute and you know how old this is I'd love to know. Overall piece is in very good condition. But take a good look at the photos as piece is being sold as-is.

The brass switch plate cover measures 4 1/2" x 2 3/4"and has a very slight bend but fits the light switch perfect. The porcelain on the push button switch measures 1 1/2" deep x 2 1/2" length and 1 1/2" wide, it is Marked Ideal, the mounts are 3 1/2" apart. Antique 1900s 10s GE Brass & Porcelain Rotary Switch Electric Steampunk 5 AMP
Antique 1900s 10s GE Brass& Porcelain Rotary Switch Electric Steampunk 5 AMP. Antique rotary electrical switch from the 1900's or possibly 10's. Manufactured by General Electric and rated at 5 Amps/125 Volts. Porcelain base with nickle-plated brass cover. Most rotary switches you will see have a bakelite turn knob. But this one has a brass knob with ball ends. Mounts directly to wall or other flat surface. Wires pass through holes in back to clamp screws inside. Cam inside passes the current through the switch or stops it depending on position. Clockwise switch rotation. Cover is easily removed by turning knob counter-clockwise. A smaller rotary switch with a base diameter of 1 13/16" Could be an interesting addition to a steampunk project. Switch hits its positions perfectly with a nice. Firm action. This is a lot of 5 Vintage outlet and switch plates. 4 of them are Porcelain and one is brass. Description as follows: 2 matching porcelain outlet plates with delicate floral design on top and bottom. No Packaging 2.75 inches wide by 4.5" tall. 1 porcelain outlet plate rimmed in two rows of gold. No marking and no packaging. 2.75 inches wide by 4.5" tall. 1 oval shaped porcelain switch plate in deep brown. No markings and no packaging. Approximately 5.5 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide. 1 brass outlet plate no packaging and no markings. 3 inches across bye 5.5 inches tall. The cap is solid brass that looks like it has been recently cleaned. It could be polished to a high shine or left in the condition it is. The switch has small scratches from use. The base has a cchip in the edge that will not effect the use or safety of the switch. It was made in the USA by HUBBELL. The common post is the copper color screw. The switch looks good and clean inside. The switch tested ok and works well with a voltmeter. It is 2 1/4" in diameter and 2" deep.
