Here is a real treat for the Collector of Fine Antique Hardware White Porcelain Push Button Double Switch Cover This little treasure in in great condition for its age. Check out the pictures. No chips. Cracks or hazing on the surface. Only shows a little wear(very minor at that) in the deep part of the screw holes and around the bottom edge where the original button switch might have rubbed against the switch cover. I have searched all over the web trying to find information about the age of an item of this nature and I couldn't find anything to help identify this specifically. Lot of 2 Vintage Beveled Brass Switch Plates, Double Push Button, 40 Guage, Used
Here is a lot of 2 solid brushed brass. Used double push button switch covers. Each plate measures 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches and is made of 40 gauge brass. I suspect that all of the plates have been used. I cleaned just a corner of one to check the brass(see pic) I cleaned the corner with a bit of paint stripper and polished it with Simichrome polish. I'm sure Brasso would work as well. These are used plates and are painted so expect to find some flaws such as light scratches or blemishes in the brass. Some of the plates also show signs of light green corrosion and some are very dirty. The pictures are to be considered as part of the description. Here is another old switch plate or switch cover. This one is a thick and heavy solid brass. It is 1/8 inch thick. This is for the old style of push button switches used in the early to mid 20th century. It is 4 inches wide by 4 inches high. One side edge is missing the bevel. So we think it may have been cut down from a larger piece, or cut so that the switch plate fit the section of wall. The back is marked Hart Flush Switch. This antique plate has darkened over the years. It will match your old woodwork better than a new switch plate.
