A Nichols Lure of Corpus Christi, Texas - S 1 AL Shrimp Lure w Box / NR
I have here another hard to find Nichols of Corpus Christi. Texas fishing lure in the original box. This lure is probably pre 1950s. I have not been able to find any lures from this company. Only a couple of boxes that sold on Ebay minus the lures. The end of the box is marked S 1AL The lure is a translucent golden shrimp with red on the tail and above the diving plane near the mouth. The lure is unmarked but the top of the box is marked Shrimp. I understand that Nichols made very good shrimp lures. The lure measures 3 5/16" long. I will say the overall condition of this lure is very good and is unfished. The lure has two treble hooks. The box is structurally sound but there is staining mostly on the bottom. I have here a hard to find lure in the original box with pamphlet sheet. This lure is probably pre 1950s. I have not been able to find any lures from this company. Rare Vintage VILLAFAN Soprano Uke UKULELE Corpus Christi TEXAS Hawaiiain Style
This is a rare example of a Villafan soprano ukulele. There is a couple schools of thought on this ukulele. First it was made by Geronimo Villafan. Or it was made in Japan, and distributed by Villafan of Corpus Christi, Texas. Either way it's a great looking old ukulele. The uke is very solid. I checked the entire ukulele over very well and could find no issues with it. The build on it is very similar to Hawaiian ukuleles. The tuners are replacements and the bridge was repaired at sometime. Everything works well on it. The fretboard is one of the typical Harmony type hard plastic, screw on models. National Bank Notes were United States currency banknotes issued by banks chartered by the United States Government. The notes were backed by United States bonds the bank deposited with the United States Treasury. Background Prior to the American Civil War. State banks issued their own banknotes. During the Civil War. In 1863, the National Banking Act established a system of National Banks which were empowered to issue National Bank Notes subject to federal oversight. The chartering ... moreof banks and administrative control over the issuance of National Bank Notes were the responsibility of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. In 1865 the Congress enacted a 10% tax on state bank note issuance making it unprofitable for state banks to issue notes. Up for auction is a tiny. Tiny drugstore bottle I've had for a few years now, this is another one from the state of Texas in a scarce size and from a scarce town. Embossed across the front in a tombstone slug plate in mixed case italic script and block letters is Thomas' MODEL PHARMACY- CORPUS CHRISTI. TEXAS. Embossed across the front shoulder is 3iv, and W.T. CO. USA across the base. Thats a lot of embossing on such a tiny bottle! Its mold blown. Seams end down on the lower neck area. Height is just under 3 inches. Semi-oval in shape with a flat front panel with beveled corners and a slightly curved back panel, flared prescription bottle type lip, 1-1/4 inches across, about 5/8 inches in depth. This bottle has never been in the ground- its spotless. And no damage whatsoever. Color is clear glass with a faint pinkish tint. This $100 T-41 note was issued in on December 15. 1862 and is a Military-endorsed note from Henry A. Gilpin, Captain& Assistant Quartermaster, CSA. Gilpin was a Texas Captain, Quartermaster's Department. All Confederate notes issued west of the Mississippi River are extremely scarce, and Texas issues are particularly popular among collectors. A bill of this nature rarely appears on the market. The condition of this note is very fine and the manuscript on the reverse reads: Issued Corpus Christi Texas. April 24, 1863, H.A. Gilpin, Capt. and AQM(assistant Quartermaster) CSA. I've included a contemporary photo of Captain Gilpin's gravestone. The manuscript on the reverse is faded and not bold. Just removed from the family estate of south Texas Pioneers Sidbury Family. There is some information on the estate at the end of the listing. Antique flow black or mulberry transferware 12 sided deep soup bowl. The bowl was made ca. 1850's in Cobridge. Staffordshire region, England by John Alcock in the Vincennes pattern. Bowl measures 9inches across and 1.5 inches tall. Marked on the back as shown in the photos. It is in excellent antique condition. No cracks or repairs, but a couple minor chips as shown in pictures and light crazing. There are NO utensil scratches or marks on the inside of the bowl but does have a couple of factory pin holes. Sidbury(1830-1904) The builder of this house, was born in north Carolina and came with her parents to Sterling Robertson's colony before the Texas Revolution(1836) She married John Wesley Scott in 1848; they moved to Nueces county, where he died in 1867. In 1875, she was married again to builder Edward D. Sidbury. A civic leader and bank Director, Mrs. Sidbury became manager of her husband's lumber company after his death in 1881. This structure was part of the expansion resulting from the ropes boom of the early 1890's. Colonel E. H. Ropes of New Jersey planned to make Corpus Christi a deep water port. He began dredging a channel across Mustang Island but ran out of money and abandoned the project. One of two rent houses originally constructed by Mrs. Sidbury about 1893 in the bluff addition on upper north Broadway. This victorian structure featured a two-story bay surrounded by elaborately decorated galleries. It was occupied for several years by Padre Island Rancher Patrick Dunn(1858-1937) Later sold by Mrs. Sidbury's descendants, the house was moved off the Bluff in 1926 to this location in

This is either an individual syrup pitcher or handless creamer used in the Cadet Mess at Corpus Christi Naval Air Training Center. Made by IROQUOIS CHINA. It is in excellent condition, showing little sign of wear, certainly near perfect condition, free of chips or cracks. It does have one place on the back that looks like a pencil mark about 1/2 inch long, but it does not clean off. Does not detract from the display or function but thought I should point it out since it does not show in a photograph. Creamer stands approximately 3" tall and 2 3/8" in diameter; it features the wings and anchor logo on one side in gold with matching gold and blue bands surrounding it. Inside the wings is written Corpus Christi. And within the wings is a shield with Texas and a single star. While there, DeRyee experimented with photographic systems that did not use silver or mercury and developed a photographic system called homeography in 1857. The process used photography to make multiple copies of drawings and was used to print Texas Cotton Bonds during the Civil War. By 1858 DeRyee had moved to San Antonio; ... morebeginning a partnership with Carl G. von Iwonski in 1859. DeRyee earned a living by photography and lantern-slide exhibitions. He exhibited photographic transparencies, which he produced on glass, at St. Louis, Cincinnati, and other cities.
