Antique Arts and Crafts Style Stained and Clear Glass Window. This auction is for an antique stained glass window that came out of Chicago. My guess would be that this piece is from around 1910. It features an Arts and Crafts or almost a Frank Lloyd Wrightish design. It's 11-1/4" wide and 29" tall. The glass is all original but the window has been partially releaded and has new zinc on the edges. It's been cleaned and regrouted so it should be good to go for another 100 years. The upper pattern is made up of opaque white granite. An off white opalescent, opaque brown granite and some opaque orange granite glass. The field is clear chip glass and the inner border is the same as the off white in the pattern. The outer border is a very interesting shade of opaque green. I noticed a crack in one piece and a large chip in two other pieces. The frame(2” thick) is painted on both sides and is sturdy with no rotting or other condition issues. In the frame. It measures 65”w x 16”h and the measurement for the glass only is 60”w x 11 1/2”h. The border of the window is textured glass and the foliate pattern is done in a mix of textured and glue chip glass which is a technique where they sand blast the glass first. Then“paint” it with glue, then put it into a low fired kiln so when it’s fired, it actually“rips” the glass and creates the pattern. The lead veins are strong with no breakage or bowing. Antique Iron Frame Leaded Stain Glass Top Hinged Transom Casement Window
Up for auction is an antique stain glass window. This casement window with a top hinge transom is really nice. The frame is made of what appears to be wrought iron. It is solid, unbent and unbroken. The window would require roughly a 19" x 35 1/2" opening to install. Note I am saying roughly. A carpenter. Installer or builder would determine the exact measurement. There are no cracks in the glass. The hinged transom is in perfect operating condition including when you draw it closed. It locks down tight. Please realize that the frame will require stripping. Repainting and re-caulking to bring the window back to top form, although some may prefer to put it to use in it's current condition. Which is completely feasible. Hand Leaded Beveled and Clear Textured Glass Stained Glass Window. This auction is for a hand leaded beveled and clear textured glass window that I made in the early 80's. The original window was much larger but got badly damaged and the my client decided that he didn't want it fixed. He just wanted me to make him another window. I salvaged the undamaged part and enough of the original glass to make this small window. The window is 20" wide by 21-1/4" tall. It's been partially releaded, cleaned, regrouted and I put new zinc on the edges. The window has a chip glass outer border, a beveled border and a very fine granite inner border. The field is clear water glass with and interesting little beveled pattern in the corner. If it looks a little cloudy it's from the piece of glass that it's leaning against. It's ... morea simple but nice little asymmetrical pattern and all good to go for at least 75 years. I will put copper hangers on it for no extra charge if you win this auction and want them. The glass is all obscure(the type you would put in a bathroom) Most of the window is colorless glass with the center flower design made up of Green. Lighter amber, and darker amber glass. Note: the center of the flower is a heart. The individual panes are separated by soldered lead. The size of the window pane is about 16” by 13” and the overall frame is about 19 ½” by 18” and is about 1 ¾” thick. The window and frame weighs about 8 ½ pounds. It measures 30 inches wide. 32.75 tall and is just under 1.5 inches thick. The glass only measures approx. 21 by 24.5. Overall it is in good condition. It could use a good cleaning. It is solid and sturdy. It stands evenly on the floor. The top window is leaded glass and there are NO breaks. The wood has aged. The varnish is original, the knobs are original. Please notice picture#9 and see how several sections of varnish have aged. Usually we use a varnish treatment like Fornby's which will soften the varnish but not actually strip it. We are no longer cleaning up furniture- we are clearing out our inventory. The windows lift up and slide in and they can easily be lifted out& removed. The buyer can take this bookcase home& use it. It has a new oak frame which is painted on both sides. It measures 22.75 inches wide by 30.75 inches tall and is 1.25 inches thick. The glass only is approx. 20 by 28.25. Overall it is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There is 1 tight hairlines. The frame needs cleaned up. Late 1800's to early1900's Leaded Stained Glass Transom. Approx. 40 1/2" x 22" over all. Glass measures approx. 38 1/4" x 17" Very. Very nice and colorful. I purchase this piece about 20 yrs. ago from an antique store in Virginia. The owner said it came out of an old Victoria house in Philidelphia, Pa. Colors are magnificent with a lot of red. And 12 jewels. Very ornate. Frame is original, old white oil based paint on the inside and recent-latex paint on the outside. One flower pedal has a couple slight cracks- see photo. This does not take away from the over all beauty of the glass so I never bothered to have it repaired. However. It wouldn't cost much at all to have it fixed. Antique window was salvaged from a historic home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It has a solid, riftsawn, red oak frame and 21 pieces of clear, original, glass set within a leaded skeleton. The central leaded arch is adorned with 8 lead, floral motifs-1 is missing. You could tell that the piece was well-maintained over the years because it is in excellent condition! All of the glass is intact and in good shape; the leading is firm and tight; and the frame is strong and sturdy. With only a nicks and scratches. Restored 8'x3' Vintage Mid Century Modern Leaded Stained Textured Glass Window
Penn Antique Restoration. 8' x 3' Vintage Mid Century Leaded Stained Glass Window. What an extraordinary find! This spectacular. One-of-a-kind, vintage window was salvaged from Southeastern Pennsylvania. It's comprised of hundreds of pieces of glass; green, blue, pink, yellow, and clear. The majority of the pieces are textured. The design is of an urn flanked by 2 swags. Notice the 2 green and blue rondelles in the center-what great accents! The sash is made of solid walnut, and is finished on both sides. At the point of salvage. 99% of the glass was intact, but the leading needed some serious reinforcement(see last photo) We brought it to our local stained glass repair shop and they did a fantastic job-as usual! The job took about 2 weeks and cost about half of the current sale price. Every piece of glass was carefully removed, ... moreand every inch of leading was examined and straightened; all joints were reinforced. When we first picked up the window. I was amazed to see that there were no vertical bars to support the weight of the leaded skeleton and glass-most likely the reason why the leading sagged as bad as it did. However, as you could see from the photos; 2 vertical stress bars have been added to the interior side to ensure that the leading will remain tight and strong for decades to come. We're actually selling the window on behalf of one of our best customers. The window was purchased. Restored, but was never installed where it was meant to go(see 2nd to last photo) The home and the project were let go. Now, you have the chance to purchase this beautiful, restored piece and incorporate it into your construction or remodeling project.
