Vtg., German, Handpainted, Porcelain, Tiger, Salt and Pepper Shakers, Pre-War
These belonged to my grandma and have been packed away in a trunk since her passing 25+ years ago. She was from Germany and may have brought these with her when she came or she got them because they say Germany on the bottom. The research that I did says that they are Pre-war. They are handpainted and they have the painter mark on the bottom. They are 3" tall and 2" wide. They are cute tigers in suits. These lived in her china cabinet and I do not know if they were used for salt and pepper or not. There is a cork inside one of them and no cork for the other. I will try to get the cork out. But I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I may not beable to do it. So it is an as is sale. I am hoping that a collector will want this unique pair for their collection. 6 Vtg Carl Thieme Dresden Saxony Salt Dips / Cellars W Applied Flowers Bavaria
These 6 beautiful 2 1/2" long x 3/4" tall porcelain salt dips/ cellars were made in Potschappel. Germany by Carl Thieme between 1918 and 1936. The Dresden Saxony pattern features the hand applied and painted raised floral work that the Thieme artisans were noted for. There is some damage to the applied flowers& leaves in the allied bouquets. 5 bear the appropriate Carl Thieme mark. We will combine shipping when possible. Vtg Hand Painted Porcelain Condiment Set with Open Salt, Pepper, Mustard & Spoon
Vintage Porcelain Condiment Set This lovely vintage condiment set has an open salt well. A pepper shaker. A mustard compartment with a slotted lid and a mustard spoon. It is hand painted with lots of tiny blue flowers and is gold trimmed. The set has a ring handle. The pepper shaker is missing it's cork. On the bottom are the numbers"68/2938" written in gold. By the way the numbers are written. I believe the set was made in Germany. It measures 4 1/2" x 4" x 2 1/2" high. This vintage condiment set is in excellent condition. There are no chips. Hand painted and signed matching salt and pepper shakers and a cool 3-handle toothpick holder. The shakers are marked O. E.G. Royal Austria for Oscar and Edgar Gutherz and have gold gilt tops. One shaker is embossed the the number 2954. There are no corks, but little folded pieces of vintage newspaper inside that may have been used as corks. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or breaks and gold gilt tops. The toothpick holder has 3 gold gilt handles and gold accented rim. This piece is from the same artist and is painted to match-it's marked R. S. Germany. All the pieces are signed by the artist"E. Ross" The toothpick holder is 2.25" tall and the shakers are 3" The ... morepainted flowers are all accented with raised white paint dots. The toothpick holder is also in excellent condition. I purchased these at an estate auction and am uncertain of their age but believe them to be many decades old. Hand-painted a light sage green with an almond shaped spot that was left white on 2 sides. And that sage green is then dotted with turquoise blue all over it. Just the dots would have been so cute, but they hand-painted a nosegay of multi-colored flowers and then outlined the almond shape in a shimmery vanilla paint and used that same paint to dot around the top of each shaker. The green corn shucks are often mistaken for having lots of missing paint. But i assure you, this is the way they are made, glossed over, with exception of the bottoms of each not glossed. Both shakers still have their original stoppers. One of the shakers have a very small chip on the tip end, right side of the shuck. Otherwise, they are in great shape with great hand paint work on the eyes, nose, eyelashes, and mouth. The Napkin Holder measures 5 1/8" tall, 3" wide, and approximately 3" in width. I only measured 1 shaker, and it's 2 7/8" tall, 1 3/4" wide, and 1 1/2" depth. These Anthropomorphic style art work are not usually marked, highly collectible, ... moreand HARD TO FIND.
