Antique P L Limoges France Salt Pepper Shakers Hand Painted Artist Signed Porcelain Description ~ this is a lovely set of Limoges porcelain salt& pepper shakers with their original cork stoppers. They are hand painted and signed by an amateur artist in pastel blue flowers that are outlined with green foliage and offset with small touches of yellow and red. The tops are painted in a full clean gold and the shape is of a simple and elegant rectangle. Both are marked with a green underglaze P L Limoges France. This is a La Porcelaine Limousine mark. Condition ~ is excellent to mint. This set is extremely clean. The decoration is full and bright. I have not removed the cork stoppers and do not know if they still hold any salt or pepper. The artist signature is on the edge of one shaker and the only possible faults would be a couple of tiny ... morepits from manufacturing in a couple of discrete areas. Mark ~ the mark on both shakers was the first factory mark used by La Porcelaine Limousine from 1905 into the 1930’s. This company was formed by P. Antique Ceramic Salt & Pepper Shakers Handpainted Limoges Style possibly Japan?
A charming set of very old salt and pepper shakers that measure 2.5" x 2" They are still functioning. But the holes are larger than modern shakers so need to use coarse salt and pepper rather than the boxed. This pair is not pristine. It shows its age and wear. The base of one is slightly cracked and there are aging spots throughout. The corks are not original and not interchangeable as the openings are different sizes. Each shaker has a chip under the rim. I've included many untouched photos. The condition is very visible in these. I am guessing these are from the early part of the last century based on others I've seen. 2 1/2" high an 2 1/2" wide. there are three chips onthe top of one. 1 major, 1 small& 1 tiny. Missing one cork, other than that they are in great condition. No makers mark. Made of very white porcelain(identified by the bottom. the top is ivory color with gold accents and beading around the edge. Background is a deep moss green and dark reddish-brown(sienna? maybe airbrushed on. The roses are deep pink variations with brush marks and teal gree-blue leaves fade to white tips. We feel these are Limoges porcelain shakers. Very beautiful with hand painted pink flowers and green leaves on a soft multi pastel background. The shaker tops are painted in gold. They each have old cork stopers. They measure 2.5 inches tall and are in excellent condition for their great age. Handpainted Porcelain Limoges? Muffineer Violets Sugar Shaker Germany France?
Hand painted muffineer or sugar shaker. Painting is very well done. Has a cork that wont come out. I do see what looks like sugar residue around the edge of it, leading me to believe it was used. Even the top is painted with the violet design. There is an embossed pattern around the top and bottom of the porcelain. Ruffled fan on top and a floral bottom. There are no chips or cracks. Only problem I see is the cork and it will come out if you force it. I just didn't want to do that. No marks, blank probably marked where the hole for the cork is. No signature as to artist. Antique Art Nouveau 1891-96 Hand-Made M. Redon Limoges Porcelain Salt Shaker. This beautiful salt shaker was made by the M. Redon Porcelain Co of Limoges. France. The mark used on the bottom of this salt shaker indicates it was made sometime between 1891 and 1896. It is hand-painted green, and has a light iridescent glaze, with an Art Nouveau-style pattern. The shape of the piece is very similar to that of a hatpin holder. However the holes are too small and too numerous for it to be a hatpin holder. There is a small piece on the rim that has been broken off at one point, but has been glued back, and is nearly seamless; it's only noticeable if you're really looking for it.
