C. 1st-2nd Century A.D. An elaborate Roman bronze zoomorphic snake bracelet with oval cross section. Both ends terminating in finely detailed snake heads, beautifully decorated with punched dots, chain dot motifs and incised lines to indicate the eyes, nostrils and the scales of the serpent. Due to the widespread believe in its apotropaic powers snake bracelets were worn as good luck charms. For protection against the evil eye or to ensure fertility.
