Ancient Roman Pottery Bowl II-Earthenware-Roman Empire-100-200 AD!
ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS Artifacts. Antiques& Fine Collectables Ancient Roman Empire Pottery Earthenware Bowl II Roman Empire c. 100- 200 AD Original. Authentic, and Extremely RARE! This ancient Earthenware Bowl dates to the Roman Empire and is from my personal collection. It is a museum quality example of an ancient Roman terracotta bowl that would have been used in daily life or to hold offerings to the Gods or as ritual tomb object that would hold offerings to the Gods. This 100% original and authentic bowl dates to the Roman Empire circa 100-200 AD and was unearthened in Northern Italy. I purchased it in the late 1960s from a museum that had decommissioned it. This unglazed earthenware bowl measures approximately 3.0" in diameter x 2.5" tall(76 mm x 63 mm) and weighs just 3.2 oz. or 92 grams. The bowl has a footed base that ... morecan be best seen in photo# 6. This is a unique piece of ancient pottery that you can add to your collection. It is truely Museum quality and is Extremely RARE! It would also make a super Gift! Condition: This fired earthenware bowl is in excellent condition for its age. It is solid with no cracks or repairs. It does have one small chip on the side of the bowl that you can see best in photo# 3. It still has the original earthen deposits encrusted on its inside and outside-as would be expected for an item that was buried for 2.000 years. This natural process does not affect the solid integrity or beauty of the ancient bowl, in fact, they help to date this artifact as an authentic piece of fine pottery that is very, very old! I have examined this piece under 10x magnification and it shows no signs of modern tool marks-only human hands worked the clay to make this ancient bowl. I also examined it under Black Light and found no signs of modern repairs. This bowl has not been Oxford Thermoluminescenece(TL) tested to determine its exact age. As that testing cost over $1,200-several times the value of this bowl. But I assure you this ancient bowl is 100% authentic and original and will

Ancient Roman Bronze Flower Ring 100-200 AD
About The Roman Jewelry Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds and sapphires found their way from the ... moresilk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. About the Roman Rings Romans liked to wear big rings which drew attention and revealed the status of the wearer. A gold ring often contained a huge gemstone or Roman glass which was generally worn by the Senators and the bureaucrats. The common people referred as the Plebeians were allowed to wear only rings made of iron. However. Some Plebeians were awarded the right to wear the golden rings for their bravery or special service to the state. But gradually such stringent rules were relaxed during the reign of Justinian I. Women of ancient Rome were more inclined to wear multiple rings of varied materials and designs on their hands without the constraints of social classes. Ancient Roman Bronze Large Tweezers – Rare! 100 - 200 AD
About The Romans The Roman Empire was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization. Characterised by an autocratic form of government and large territorial holdings around the Mediterranean in Europe, Africa, and Asia. The 500-year-old Roman Republic, which preceded it, had been destabilized through a series of civil wars. Several events marked the transition from Republic to Empire, including Julius Caesar's appointment as perpetual dictator(44 BC) the Battle of Actium and the granting of the honorific Augustus to Octavian by the Roman Senate. The first two centuries of the Empire were a period of unprecedented stability and prosperity known as the Pax Romana(Roman Peace" It reached its greatest expanse during the reign of Trajan(98–117 AD) In the 3rd century. The Empire underwent a crisis that threatened its existence, ... morebut was reunified and stabilized under the emperors Aurelian and Diocletian. Christians rose to power in the 4th century, during which time a system of dual rule was developed in the Latin West and Greek East. After the collapse of central government in the West in the 5th century, the eastern half of the Roman Empire continued as what would later be known as the Byzantine Empire. Because of the Empire's vast extent and long endurance. The institutions and culture of Rome had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, religion, architecture, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, particularly Europe, and by means of European expansionism throughout the modern world. The surface of its large, almond-shaped bezel is engraved deeply with the most well-preserved knot-like pattern which the ancient Greeks(and in turn the Romans) used to symbolize the ancient continuum hypothesis of“infinity” This ring has remained absolutely captivating from its decorative carvings as clear as the day it was made, to the rich historical symbolism it holds. It makes for a very comfortable fit, and is bound to spark the interest and curiosity of its admirers when worn today. In Ancient Greece. We find a society struggling to develop the ability to introduce and communicate ideas.

Diamonds, ... moreemeralds and sapphires found their way from the silk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. This elegant piece of ancient jewellery is from the Greco-Roman world. And boasts the most beautifully carved Greek key pattern upon its surface. The Greek key pattern is a highly desirable and sought after motif in ancient jewellery and you will often find yourself paying more for such items of adornment where the ancient Greek design appears. Its band is broad with a slight decorative mould at the middle of its base, and expands as it reaches the formation of its bezel. This lovely ring retains a beautiful dark, natural patina all over and light earthen encrustations that have settled in areas. The Greco-Roman world refers to those geographical regions and countries that culturally(and so historically) were directly. Protractedly and intimately influenced by the language, culture, government and religion of the ancient Greeks and Romans. In exact terms the area refers to the"Mediterranean world" the"swimming-pool and spa" of the Greeks and Romans, i.e. one wherein the cultural perceptions, ideas and sensitivities of these people

Although this ring bears a very unusual shape to its band. It was not uncommon for rings from the Greco-Roman period to be fashioned as such. Its broad band expands greatly at the shoulders, and into the formation of its large oval-shaped bezel. This bronze bezel would have once held within it, a lozenge intaglio which has been lost in antiquity from frequent use by its ancient owner. Each side of its shoulders and on four corners of its bezels frame are adorned with very deep linear carvings made in decoration. Regardless, the beauty and classic craftsmanship of its time remains as astounding as it was the day it was first made for its ancient owner. A dark, natural patina is retained all over with earthen encrustations that have settled in areas around the ring. The term Greco-Roman world describes those regions which were for many generations subjected to the government of the Greeks and then the Romans and thus accepted or at length were forced to embrace them as their masters and teachers. This process was aided by the seemingly universal adoption of Greek as the language

LARGE ROMAN TERRACOTTA TRANSPORT AMPHORA, 100 - 200 AD
A large Roman buff/gray-ware terracotta two handled amphora. Ca. 100- 200 AD. The amphora has a plain neck, two strap handles with embossed ridges on the surface, also has an embossed symbol of a down-facing triangle with a semi-circular top at the base of each strap handle, perhaps a mark showing ancient ownership. There is a series of wavy and straight incised lines encircling the amphora in five locations along the surface of the main body. The bottom surface is somewhat flattened to allow the amphora to sit upright in soft sand. The surface has earthen debris in most of the crevices from almost two thousand years beneath the earth. Amphorae such as this were used to transport oil, wine and other foodstuffs around the Roman Empire. 19-1/2" 49.5cm) tall, 15" 38.1cm) maximum diameter, furnished with the metal tripod stand shown ... morein the photos. I will furnish a color photocopy(laminated in clear plastic) of an almost identical attributed amphora for complete. Permanent dating and culture documentation. A superb, most impressive ancient Roman artifact, displays very well, intact with no repairs or restoration, has a number of small dings and scratches as befits a utilitarian object this old. Roman Bronze RING with HANDSHAKE, dextrarum iunctio, circa 100-200 AD. ROME VF
For sale is Roman Bronze RING with HANDSHAKE/ two hands shaking, circa 100-200 AD. The'handshakes' depicted on funerary reliefs or coins in Roman imperial times. The dextrarum iunctio(joining of the right hands) Were mainly ceremonial in function, though, expressing the strong bond, mainly between man and woman, sometimes between patrons and freedmen, not a gesture of greeting; just as the joined hands on the reverse of the coin you posted expressed the concordia exercituum, the unity of the armies, a propagandistic term of later imperial times drawing here a strong parallel to the ceremonial joining of hands in marriage I would say. The joined right hands were also more generally used as a sign of friendship, hospitality and community, though, so it wouldn't be too far fetched to say that people greeted each other the same way. ... moreNice and interesting.
