SKA751) from the Van Camp Hardware& Iron Co. in Indianapolis. Indiana. This complete unused antique set comes with the 2 clear glass door knobs and spindle. Strike plate, Mortise Lock, Escutcheons covers, skeleton key, screws(had to even take them out of the paper wrapper to take this picture) and the original box they were in when purchased decades ago. Some of the measurements are. Clear Glass Knobs are 2" wide across(in fantastic condition) Escutcheon plate covers are 7" long(screw holes are almost 4 1/2" apart) 4 screws are 3/4" and other 4 are 5/8" long lock ... moreplate is 3 3/4" long(screw holes almost 3" apart) Mortise lock case is 3 3/8" deep. 3 3/4" high and front thin plate on lock case is 5 3/8" long(screw holes are about 4 3/4" apart) Skeleton Key measures about 2 13/16" long(works great when put in the key hole) This antique unused set is in great never been on a door condition and been in its original box for all this time and the only things that doesn't look new is the box(storage wear and writing on top) and the skeleton key has very minor rust from age and storage sitting in the box. 2 VINTAGE 1900-1920 Victorian Schoolhouse Brass Door Knob Back Plate Escutcheons
You are bidding on 2 VINTAGE Victorian/ Schoolhouse Style Brass Rectangular Doorknob Backplate Escutcheon seen in pix. They were caked in so many layers of lead paint they literally became part of the door. Carefully removed to prevent any damage to the edges. They were stripped to the original brass which was discolored, so they was media blasted with fine grit and are now ready for you to polish to a high shine, paint OR plate with copper, nickel or chrome. As the pix show both are in excellent condition with NO scratches or pits in the metal. Made by Corbin in the 1890's-1900's they were removed from a house built in 1901. Measures 7" long X 2-1/2" wide. Pix show the BOTH actual plates you are bidding on. These two are the only ones in this style that I have but I am listing dozens of different style backplates I have ... morebeen collecting for 25 years. Although they are not shown in the pix. I will include the VINTAGE slotted head screws used to attach it to the door. The top left is cast and not stamped it is about a 1/4" bigger than the bottom ones. The top center is the steel escutcheon its a little rusty. Pair of lock plate screw escutcheons from a gunsmith who specialized in repairing and restoring Kentucky Rifles and Pennsylvania Rifles in the late 1940's. One of the escutcheons is from a 1850's Kentucky rifle( the darker one) the other is a vintage cast brass copy from the 1940's or 50's. Both are about the same size and shape. Nice Lock Plate screw escutcheons for any Kentucky Rifle. Pennsylvania Rifle or Plains rifle project gun you may have.
