Antique Cast Iron Boot Scraper w/Pan, Signed E&T C. 617, Pre1900 w/Gate Mark
This nice cast iron book scraper came from an estate auction here in eastern Connecticut* Marked/stamped on the front of the scraper is: E&T C. 617. We could find no information on the E&T Company* The gate mark(the line on the bottom from where the hot iron entered the casting) dates it to the late 1800's. The pan measures 10-3/4" long and 8-1/4" wide at the top. The top of the pan is 2" high. The scraper measures 6" high to the top of the horns and can accomodate a boot up to 4" wide* The holes in the bottom of the pan which would allow it to be securely fastened to the step are on 6-5/8" centers. The scraper is in excellent condition and with a little more cleaning(or not) it's ready to use or display. There is NO RESERVE! There is NO HANDLING CHARGE! Antique 1890-1920 vintage Cast Iron BABY CHICK chicken Hen Garden Gate Finial NR
Hello! Thank you for joining us in order to preview an exceptionally scarce and highly distinctive. Antiquarian cast iron farm/garden hardware keepsake for the farm house decorative accent, the collection or rustic restoration project. Offered here is an original(circa 1890-1920) cast iron Baby Chick, that has apprently lost her mother hen. Not knowing the exacting history behind this wonderful piece of cast iron; the little chick may have been part of an advertising sign or display at the regional grain store or farm/livestock jobber? The antiquarian farm animal(4 1/8" height x 2 1/8" base diameter) is open at the bottom, resembling what one may find with early fence post and garden gate finials. The early cast iron hatchling could possibly be put to use as a door stop; being quite hefty for its size. The antiquarian baby chick ... moreaffords the farm collector, some very nice detailing from the top of her head to her little feet, wading through the grass. The baby chicken shows some obvious patina, predominantly at the base and collar interior/edges(see pics) There is a small hole at the toes of the baby chick as well. The antiquarian cast iron primitive presents very well as a shelf sitter or as a vintage garden accent. Offered is this primitive"B& D" cast iron Scotch Bowl with wire hanging bail. This is a great looking colonial ststirring pot with round bottom and outer base ring to keep the pot upright when sitting on a flat surface. The tipping handle on the upper rim is marked with a highly embossed"4" 4 quarts) The underside has the old production gate mark that is found on early cast iron. The makers logo"BD" is also embossed on the base. There is a single crack that measures 2 3/4 inches long. Shown in detail on the bottom. Because of this, it will not make a good cooking pot. It does however make an awesome historical display piece. This has a black iron finish with no rust and has been seasoned to prevent oxidation.

Antique Blacksmith Forged Iron Primitive Farm Barn Door / Gate Hinges Massive!
These hinges are really big. Really heavy, really old, and really NEAT looking. Both together weigh 31 pounds. You can tell these were forged. I like how the outside edges were given a bevel. These hinges have spent most of their 100 plus years outside so there is rust and pitting. With proper care, they could last another 100 years. Use them inside or out or just hang them as they are for decoration.

Talk about an unusual Charleston estate auction find. here is an incredible heavy carved polychrome solid wood Chinese door or heavy gate with a cross beam and side beam frame as well as the heavy raised panel doors with all their original iron fittings. This is an old Chinese door and is extremely heavy as well as somewhat primitive on the unfinished sides of the beams. The polychrome paint is quite worn but is still quite evident and adds so much character to an already gorgeous detailed yet functional heavy door. I have included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design. Quality, condition and overall beauty of this delightful antique door. Unfotunately I do not know any additional provenance on the door or have any definitive explanation as to how it arrived in our fair city, though with it being a port ... morecity and with the sheer size and weight, my guess is whenever it came to the US, it was most assuredly by boat long ago. The standing door frame itself is 78 inches tall by 68 inches wide at it's widest points. At beams which extend and is constructed of huge beams 4 1/2 inches wide.The inside doorway entrance(inside the standing frame) is 63 1/2 inches tall and 39 1/4 inches wide, with a bottom crossbeam one would have to step over to enter. In addition there is a large crossbeam I believe goes overhead, hooking into the corbels, 68 inches long by 8 inches wide by 4 1/4 inches thick. There are also two side beams each 73 1/4 inches long by 6 1/2 inches wide by 3 inches thick and the two corbels, carved from blocks roughly 21 1/2 inches by 12 inches by 8 inches. The two raised panels doors, which shut from behind the door frame, are 74 1/2 inches tall and very heavy, ready for locking out the enemy. Crafted of solid Maple in the New England States during the mid-to-late 18th Century, probably 1750-1770. The shapely top opens over ruled joints for a clean and broad surface- excellent dimensions for use as a functional card table or breakfast table, folding up as a wonderful hall table or dining room server. In 18th century homes, it was important that dining and entertaining furniture could be used flexibly for multiple uses, both functionally as a useful piece when hosting company, but also aesthetically to enhance the beauty of a given room. This table, with it's wonderful dimensions and ... morefine lines, clearly would have been a desirable piece in most households of the period. Originally this table would have been painted. Evidence still in the corners and crevices of a white paint that may have been the original color. One leaf is a solid plank of solid maple, the top and one other leaf crafted of two pieces of broad maple, all hanging over entirely original hand forged iron hinges- several of the original screws are still preserved in these. The table rests over a primarily pine frame, one leg gating outward on each side to reveal the dovetailed construction of the frame, the legs joined to the gate with double pinned tenon-mortise joints and swinging on a thick and heavy knuckle joint. The legs are perfect turned works, each perfectly tapering into a tiny ankle before flowing into the soft padded foot. A wonderful antique French sprung door/ gate bell with quaint rural charm! The bell itself is bronze and is riveted to the rustiquely rusted iron spring. through which is threaded a bar with a spiked end. The spike is for driving into the stonework. to hang the bell. At the top of the spring is a triangular piece of iron actually folded) with a hole. to hang the string to ding the bell. It still possesses its original clapper. Embossed on the bell is" DUBOIS ROBERT AU PUY"The French bell foundry which operated throughout the 18th century. The bell plus iron part measures 32.5 cm top to bottom. the spike measuring 12 cm. The bell is 6cm with a diametre at the base of 8cm. This is a totally charming. Ancient little bell and still strong after 200 years of use. Only many many years of weathering could produce the lightly roughened ... morerusty patina on the iron and the delightful age darkened bronze and verdigris on the bell. The lettering is also beautifully worn and a little"off kilter" All adding up to a unique appearance which absolutely could not be replicated on a modern piece. I have given the iron parts a light polish with a little beeswax to protect and give a gentle sheen but I have not polished the bell atall. Will give a truly rustique French charm to any entrance gate or door. and a nice ding of welcome!
