On whose behalf the letter is acknowledging receipt of a previous letter from Watt, and further stating that the undiscolsed matter would be addressed"as he may consider proper" William Graham Watt(1776-1866) was a Commissioner of Supply for the County. And an advocate of modern farming techniques. He abolished the runrig system and enclosed commonland. Watt is best known as the 7th Laird, or landowner, of Skail House, part of the Breckness Estate. Old Bamboo Wood Zinc Lined Tea Box Iron Trim Red Wax Seal on Bottom 5" Asian
Another Interesting yard sale find. I believe this may be an old Asian tea box. I can't tell if it ever had a lid. It measures 5" square and 3" tall, it has triple wrought iron bands around it and nice handles on each side. It is lined with what looks like zinc to me. It weighs two pounds and has a red Asian, perhaps Chinese, wax seal on the bottom which I know means it was approved for export, I just don't know when. The wood looks like bamboo and it has a definite aged look to it. It shows normal use wear like it has been around for awhile. I got this and another piece I'm selling this week, from an older guy who had been in the service in Europe and liked to visit flea markets looking for unusual items while he was there. Possibly medieval seal, and one unusual spoke shaped multi seal sealer with 8 different images to choose from. I believe one of the spokes has been glued in. Images include a heart, a rose, a hand, chicken, some portraits, and another flower.

Vintage ALFRED SCHLADERER 4/5 PINT Bottle Blackforest Germany Deer Red Wax Seal
This is a unique bottle. It has a pommel mark on the bottom as shown in photo. Some people list similar empty bottles as hard to find but in reality this is the hard to find variety. The red wax seal is intact but not glued to the bottle. The cork is missing from the top. This is a Schnaps bottle. The bottom has 4/5 pint an"A" in a circle and under that is 11:48. It says it is from Blackforest Germany and is made by Alfred Schladerer. There are deer on both sides and a Coat of arms on the front. There are a man and a woman on the back. It is a lot like our Pennsylvania Dutch with hearts and such. I can't make out what is written on the bottom of the bottle between Alfred and the last line that says Blackforest Germany. Antique Chinese Ink Pot with Lid and Dragon Decoration – Signed - Red Wax Seal
This old blue-and-white porcelain Chinese ink pot is decorated with a 5-clawed dragon on the lid. The pot is hand painted. And is signed on the underside. It also bears a red was signature seal, that is somewhat chipped from age and use of the pot. The pot is 3-3/8” in diameter, and 1-5/8” tall when closed. There is a piece of medical tape on the side with writing on it, but I don’t read Chinese, so can’t give a translation. There is no corresponding break or crack on the inside of the piece, so I’m sure that the tape is for identification only. The pot is in excellent condition. With no chips, cracks, or repairs. Antique Red Wax Seal Mythical Creature Heraldic Celtic Coat of Arms Medieval
Up for your consideration is this unique. Unusual antique red wax seal or pendant done with a mythical style motif featuring a figure holding a staff with some bird like figures on both sides towards the bottom. Surrounding the piece is lettering of which could be considered Celtic or Latin in nature. We have spent countless hours researching this piece and some similar pieces we just added in our store. And have not been able to completely identify what it is. We do know it is similar to old seals that queens and people of power would use as seals on letters and documents they would send. As a way to preserve the document from being opened, hence the receiver would know if item had been tampered with because the seal would have been broken. The red color in the wax came from a mineral called cinnabar. And the black you see was from burnt ... moreashes, to make soot. This handmade item is not completely uniformly round as is the way in which it was made. Most likely using a metal stamp of some sort. This could be a coat of arms for a certain family. Or from a certain group of people. Item measures 3 3/4" diameter. Features what appears to be some form of dogs at the base as well. CIRCA 1856-1858 HANDWRITTEN GERMAN DIARY OVER 150 PAGES UNUSUAL RED WAX SEAL *
Up for auction is an unusual handwritten diary circa 1856-1858 I believe it is written in German. I understand only a few words of German. So I have not translated the diary. It is full. Over 150 pages and completely filled with writing.the author appears to be a E. Mangold, I believe his name is written inside the front cover, along with the word Taschbuch There is an interesting red wax seal on affixed the the inside front cover that looks like some sort of coat of arms. The first page has the word"Varia" written in bold script.Than it starts in the 1856 and follows through to the year 1858. E. Mangold was quite a prolific writer he filled every piece of paper in this diary what I also find interesting are the little illustrations several times he has two crossed swards in the text of his writing.
