Two Laminated Religious cards to this lot. Roman Catholic Saint Catherine of Siena Patroness of Italy and one of six Patron Saints of Europe. She is also ... morethe Patron Saint of the sick. Those with illness, and firefighters. Information on Relics: Relic card reads"Ex Induments" which is Latin for"from the clothing" This phrase was originally designated for 2nd Class Relics ONLY as they were from the clothing of the Saints or Blessed individuals; however. Contemporary relic manufacturers have been using the phrase as a way to identify 3rd Class Relics as well. Making it difficult to identify the correct class of Relics. 3rd Class Relics are pieces of cloth. Canvas, or any item that has touched the to a First or Second Class Relic of the Saint the intent that it be a Third Class Relic. In the case of a 3rd Class Relic. The Catholic Church states may be given to individuals and may be sold; unlike the 1st Class Relic which the Catholic Church does not allow the sale of. In the case of the 4th Class Relic, they are are virtually the same as Third Class Relics. The Third Class Relics on the Medals: These are typically what you purchase on a Pilgrimage to a Shrine of a Saint. When you look at the back of a medal and see a small piece of cloth set in red that small piece of cloth is the relic. The outer edge will either have raised lettering or engraving that reads“EX INDUMENTIS” Latin for"touched cloth" You will notice that all of these medals are made in Italy as they are sanctioned by the Vatican. When properly reverenced. Relics are considered to be powerful Sacramentals, in order for this to occur, the Church recommends ALL Relics to be blessed by a Deacon or Priest of the Roman Catholic Church. Relics are NOT to be taken lightly! These are considered precious gifts from our Holy Saints and to be treated with reverence and respect. You are bidding on a nice vintage Catholic reliquary medal containing a relic of St. Francis of Assisi. The medal is cross-shaped. On one side is the ... moreimage of St. Francis. Encircled by the Italian words"Polvere della tomba di S. Francesco Assisi" Literally translated this means"powder of the tomb of St. Francis of Assisi" On the other side is a chamber containing the relic- a pale tan granular material on a red fabric background. The relic covers an area that measures 3/8 of an inch by 2/8 of an inch in size. The sealed tomb of St. Francis beneath the main altar of the lower basilica in Assisi was excavated in 1818. The saint's remains were exhumed and placed in a new crypt underneath the lower basilica. This tomb was reopened in 1978 so a scientific study of the saint's remains could be done. The powder appears as if it could be rock dust from the tomb. The entire medal measures 7/8 of an inch by 3/4 of an inch. Including a loop at the top for hanging. This reliquary medal of the beloved patron saint of animals is in very nice pre-owned condition. The image of St. Francis is still crisp and the reliquary chamber is intact and undamaged. Saint Patrick was born around 400 AD. He may have been born in Scotland or Britain; to an esteemed family. His father a Christian Deacon. There is speculation ... moreon whether a Christian Deacon would be more a political honor than a religious one. At 16. Patrick was abducted by Irish raiders and sold into slavery. He spent 6 years in Ireland as a slave; ironically, this is where he became faithful to Christianity and Catholicism. He escaped. Supposedly to France; where he was educated. He became ordained as a Priest; and experienced visions from God. One vision in particular is recounted; in this vision he saw the hands and arms of Irish babies and children reaching for him from their Mothers' wombs. He knew that he was being directed back to Ireland rescue the innocents; to do mission work and conversion. Ireland at the time was largely Pagan. E.g. Druids. And they weren't accommodating to the stubborn, stubborn Priest. And he was a stubborn, stubborn Priest. Yep. Saint Patrick was created for Ireland. Through his fearlessness and determination. He prevailed. He set up diocese throughout Ireland. He became beloved. Though there are such things as myths and legends attributed to Saint Patrick; I like thinking he really did save Ireland from unruly snakes. Saint Patrick is so beloved; that no other Saint can claim such an honored. Noisy, green Feast Day; Saint Patrick's Day, 17 March. Corned beef and cabbage. Green beer. Saint Patrick.

Could be slightly larger) relic(around 1890ies we recently bought a huge lot of relics this is one of them. very faintly written on the back is ex veste. Sealed with wax closing the enveloppe. St. Catherine of Bologna. Virgin(Patroness of Artists) Feast- March 9th Born in 1413, Catherine de Vigri was the daughter of a diplomatic agent of the Marquis of Ferrara. At the age of eleven, she was appointed maid of honor to the daughter of the Marquis and shared her training and education. When the daughter eventually married, she wanted Catherine to remain in her service, but Catherine left the court and became a Franciscan Tertiary at the age of fourteen. Catherine had determined to live a life of perfection. And was admired ... moreby her companions for her holiness. Eventually her Community became part of the Poor Clares. She soon began to experience visions of Christ and Satan, and wrote of her experiences, one of which occurred one Christmas. Through her efforts with Pope Nicholas V, the Poor Clare convent at Ferrara erected an enclosure, and Catherine was appointed Superioress. The reputation of the Community for its holiness and austerity became widespread. She then was appointed Superioress of a new convent in Bologna. In Lent of 1463. Catherine became seriously ill, and she died on March 9th. Buried without a coffin, her body was exhumed eighteen days later because of cures attributed to her and also because of the sweet scent coming from her grave. Her body was found to be incorrupt and remains so today in the Church of the Poor Clare convent in Bologna. She was canonized in 1712. Despite the opportunity to live a noble life at court. St. Catherine eagerly responded to her call to lead the religious life. Her piety, charity, and kindness attracted many to follow her along the road to perfection. The beauty of her life and death encourages us to resolve to live in perfect charity as a Len
Saint Anne RELIC - Patron of Housewives, Women in labor, Grandmothers, Miners
Wonderful 1st class Relic of Saint Anna The auction is for the beautiful old silver case who used to be owned by a nun; The relic is free. Saint Anne(also known as Ann or Anna. From Hebrew Hannah חַנָּה, meaning"favor" or"grace" of David's house and line, was the mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus Christ, according to Christian and Islamic tradition. Mary's mother is not named in the canonical gospels, nor in the Qur'an. Anne's name and that of her husband Joachim come only from New Testament apocrypha, of which the Protoevangelium of James(written perhaps around 150) seems to be the earliest that mentions them. RELICS The supposed relics of St. Anne were brought from the Holy Land to Constantinople in 710 and were kept there in the church of St. Sophia as late as 1333. During the twelfth ... moreand thirteenth centuries returning crusaders and pilgrims from the East brought relics of Anne to a number of churches. Including most famously those at Apt, in Provence, Ghent, and Chartres. St. Anne's relics have been traditionally preserved and venerated in the many cathedrals and monasteries dedicated to her name, for example in Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, and Greece in Holy Mount and the city of Katerini. Medieval and baroque craftsmanship is evidenced in the striking metalwork of the life-size reliquaries containing the bones of her forearm for example. Examples employing folk art techniques are also known. Düren has been the main place of pilgrimage for Anne since 1506. When Pope Julius II decreed that her relics should be kept there. PATRONAGE St. Anne is patroness of unmarried women. Housewives, women in labor, grandmothers, horseback riders, cabinet-makers, and the Mi'kmaq people of Canada. As the Mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the devotion to St Anne as the patron of miners arises from the medieval comparison between the Virgin Mary and Christ and precious metals- silver and gold. Anne's womb was considered the source from which these precio

But for the sake of Christ he became a poor Franciscan Priest. When the remains of Saint Berard and his companions. The first Franciscan martyrs, were brought to be buried in his church, Anthony was moved to leave his order, enter the Friars Minor, and go to Morocco to evangelize. Shipwrecked at Sicily, he joined some other brothers who were going to the church in Portiuncula. Lived in a cave at San Paolo ... moreleaving only to attend Mass and sweep the nearby monastery. One day when a scheduled speaker failed to appear, the brothers pressed him into speaking. He impressed them so that he was thereafter constantly travelling, evangelizing, preaching, and teaching theology through Italy and France. A gifted speaker. He attracted crowds everywhere he went, speaking in multiple tongues; legend says that even the fish loved to listen. Miracle worker. One of the most beloved of saints, his images and statues are found everywhere– though none of them portray him as a heavy-set man, which some reports claim he was. Proclaimed a Doctor of the Church on 16 January 1946. One source of the well-known patronage for the recovery of lost objects comes from a legend that. Long after Anthony’s death, his old prayer book was kept as a treasured relic, and one day it disappeared. People prayed for help in finding the lost item, a novice found it and returned it; he later admitted that he had“borrowed” the book and returned it after receiving a vision of an angry Anthony. Born 1195 at Lisbon. Portugal Died 13 June 1231 of natural causes Canonized 30 May 1232 by Pope Gregory IX at Spoleto. Italy Patrona

St Patrick Patron Saint of Ireland Seals and Treads Intact Rare Priest Find
Beautiful Old Relic of St Patrick Patron of Ireland. Seal and Treads Intact Synopsis Born in England arguably in the late 4th century A.D. St. Patrick was captured by pirates as a child and brought to Ireland. During his enslavement, he was called to Christianity and escaped his captors after six years. He returned to Ireland as a missionary, and in his teachings, combined Irish pagan beliefs with Christian sacrament, devising the Celtic Cross. He is annually honored on March 17. Early Life St. Patrick. Apostle of Ireland, was born in England circa 385. His father, Calphurnius, was a deacon from a Roman family of high social standing. His mother, Conchessa, was a close relative of the great patron St. Martin of Tours. St. Patrick's grandfather, Pontius, was also a member of the clergy. Surprisingly, St. Patrick himself was not raised ... morewith a strong emphasis on religion. Education was not particularly stressed during his childhood either. Later in life, this would become a source of embarrassment for St. Patrick, who in the early 440s, would write in his Confessio, I blush and fear exceedingly to reveal my lack of education. When St. Patrick was 16 years old. He was captured by Irish pirates. They brought him to Ireland where he was sold into slavery in Dalriada. There, his job was to tend sheep. Saint Patrick's master, Milchu, was a high priest of Druidism, a Pagan sect that ruled religious influence over Ireland at the time. St. Patrick came to view his enslavement as God's test of his faith. During his six years of captivity. He became deeply devoted to Christianity through constant prayer. In a vision, he saw the children of Pagan Ireland reaching out their hands to him. With this, he grew increasingly determined to free the Irish from Druidism by converting them to Christianity. Missionary Work Circa 408. The idea of escaping enslavement came to St. Patrick in a dream. In the dream, a voice promised him he would find his way home to England. Eager to see the dream materialize, St. Patrick convinced

At that time, Forli was governed by the Pope as part of the Papal States, and Peregrine grew up in a family that was actively involved in the ... moreopposition, or anti-papal party. Because of anti-papal activity, the city was under the church penalty of interdict, meaning that Mass and the Sacraments could not be celebrated there. St. Philip Benizi, Prior General of the Servants of Mary, went to Forli to preach reconciliation. Young Peregrine, very intense in his political fervor, not only heckled Philip during his preaching, but, in fact, struck him. Philip, instead of responding with anger and violence to the attack, turned and forgave Peregrine. This encounter with Philip is said to have dramatically changed Peregrine. He began channeling his energy into good works and eventually joined the Servants of Mary in Siena. Italy. He returned to Forli, where he spent the rest of his life, dedicating himself to the sick, the poor, and those on the fringes of society. He also imposed on himself the penance of standing whenever it was not necessary to sit. Wax seal and threads are intact. You are bidding on the theca. The relic is a gift to the highest bidder. Feast Day 22 January. Eastern Orthodox Church; 26 January, Roman Catholic; 23 January in Australia; 9 May(translation of relics) Biography Saint Timothy is mentioned in the Bible at the time of Paul's second visit to Lystra in Anatolia. Where Timothy is mentioned as a"disciple" Paul calls Timothy his"own son in the faith" Timothy often traveled with Paul. Timothy's mother was Jewish and his father was Greek. He was ordained and went with Paul ... moreon his journeys through Phrygia, Galatia, Mysia, Troas, Philippi, Veria, and Corinth. His mother, Eunice, and his grandmother, Lois, are noted as eminent for their piety and faith, which indicates that they may have also been Christians. Timothy is praised by Paul for his knowledge of the Scriptures, and is said to have been acquainted with the Scriptures since childhood. That Timothy was jailed at least once during the period of the writing of the New Testament is implied by the writer of Hebrews mentioning Timothy's release at the end of the epistle. It is also apparent that Timothy had some type of stomach malady. Owing to Paul's advice in 1 Timothy 5:23, counseling Timothy to"No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments. Paul commanded Timothy to remain in Ephesus(1 Timothy 1) I command you to stay there in Ephesus" to prevent heresy from infecting the church in Ephesus. Paul also gave Timothy instructions for establishing Elders and Deacons there. These very guidelines have become the commonly used guidelines among churches across the world to this day. According to later tradition. Paul

The daughter of a Dr Richard Bayley; Elizabeth was raised in the New York high society of the late 18th century. Her mother died when Elizabeth was three years old, her baby sister a year later. In 1794 at age 19 she married the wealthy businessman William Magee Seton, and was the mother of five. For years Elizabeth had felt drawn to Catholicism, ... morebelieving in the Real Presence in the Eucharist and in the lineage of the Church going back to Christ and the Apostles. She converted to Catholicism, entering the Church on 14 March 1805, alienating many of her strict Episcopalian family in the process. To support her family, and insure the proper education of her children, she opened a school in Boston. Though a private and secular institution, from the beginning she ran it along the lines of a religious community. At the invitation of the archbishop, she established a Catholic girl‘s school in Baltimore, Maryland which initiated the parochial school system in America. To run the system she founded the Sisters of Charity in 1809, the first native American religious community for women. There is a loop on top to put chain through if preferred.
