I am offering this very rare and sacred religious item to the general public. This hat was featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer's July 6. 2013 edition. The history behind this baseball cap is as follows. In 1979, former Pope John Paul II came to Philadelphia to hold mass and visit with local Catholics here. One hundred Catholic men, of the highest order(Knights of Columbus)were requested to protect the Pope during his out door, center city mass, in October of 1979. One of those one hundred religious men, was my late grandfather. Only one hundred of these caps were created by the DuPont Corporation in Delaware, for this extremely rare event. All of the the caps were blessed by the the Pope personally. The hat was blessed as my grandfather was wearing it during the Pope's blessing of the one hundred security men.
